$ 5.50($ 6 if you pay with card) for a «fresh fruit» smoothie which turned out to be a disappointment. The tapioca balls were too hard, which is the worst thing to have in a «bubble tea», and the smoothie itself didn’t taste all that fresh. They may or may not advertise the«fresh fruit» part solely based on the pieces of fresh they put on top of the large amount of whipped cream. I wouldn’t consider this to be bubble tea OR a smoothie. I don’t even know what to call it. it’s like a mixture of Italian soda with tapioca balls topped with the top of a Chinese fruit cake. There is only one person taking orders and making these smoothies(which was a very lovely lady btw) so the wait is sort of long depending on the line. You can definitely find better smoothies elsewhere.

I wanted to like this place! The people working there are so nice and it smelled so good. So when I got home and started to eat my chicken curry I was so disappointed. The rice was ok and the spices were tasty but the chicken was really poor quality. It had the texture of octopus. Octopus is great but chicken is supposed to be tender and juicy not greasy and rubbery. I think I’ll avoid this cart next time.

I came here with a friend the other day and I can honestly say, I was slightly disappointed in the quality of it. It wasn’t even an actual bubble tea. When we were drinking it, we could tell that they add carbonated soda along with the so called«real fruits.» The bubble tea started separating and it started to get extremely unappealing and also slightly gross. The price of the bubble tea was also expensive and it wasn’t even worth it. Needless to say, we only drank probably around $ 2 worth out of the $ 6.00 we paid.

On a hot summer day, I was in search of a lovely smoothie or bubble tea. I was lured in by the Taste of Fiji’s smoothie photos and decided to order one. Good. 1. Loaded with flavor and topped with a pile of fresh fruit 2. The drink comes in a satisfying size Bad 1. You will wait for your smoothie, you will wait and wait and wait 2. You will pay for that smoothie, you will pay upwards of $ 6.00 3. There is a pile of whipped cream on the top(could be a good or bad, depends on your preference). Overall, if you have $ 6 and 15 minutes to burn, order one of their fruit loaded smoothies(no whipped cream).

Their smoothies are not really, real fruit smoothies! It’s a bubble tea with loads of sugar and whipped cream topped with some fruits for decoration! Do yourself and your body a favor and not drink it. I asked the lady if I could have it with no sugar added and she said it would be tasteless. I said that’s fine and she replied we premake the purée and it has sugar!

The rating only reflects their bubble tea smoothies. I have yet to try anything else, but it looked like it was probably very good. The smoothie was quite sweet, but that was exactly what I was expecting. Unlike many places, the bubbles were actually cooked all the way through and weren’t hard. It also came with a nice arrangement of fruit and whipped cream on top. Though it wasn’t the cheapest drink I could find(It was about $ 4.50 if I recall), I think it was worth it. Price-wise it’s about on par with the same sort of drink from Starbucks, so it’s not a huge deal.

I’ve been meaning to check this place out for awhile, and tonight, with a 20±minute wait for the streetcar, was the night. For $ 6 I got a HUGE portion of curry, twice as much as I expected, so it was like two meals! The service was also very friendly. I had the fresh fish curry, which did taste very fresh. The sauce was abundant and delicious. I can’t wait to try more of this cart’s offerings!

I don’t know if it was just because I ordered around closing or if the food is always so slopped together, but my vegetarian meal was a gigantic clamshell of white rice and more white rice, with a little tiny clump of mixed vegetables on top. The soup served with the veggie meal was very watered down and pretty tasteless. Nothing was very good. I expected so much more than a meal that was 90% rice for $ 6

The tuna fish curry is the best! This woman pours love in to her food and is very generous, I never mind waiting a few extra minutes for the roti.

Excellent Food!!! It reminds me of South Indian curries I’ve had in India. Even a little more complex flavors and more fresh tasting than I’m used to. Having spent about two years in India and Southeast Asia, I highly recommend this food cart!

This is one of my favorite food carts in all of Portland. The food is authentic, the service is friendly and warm and you get your 5th meal free with punch card that they offer. I always get paneer! Many places around the world have strong long going Indian influences due to diasporas. British bringing people from India to places such as Fiji, Guyana, Trinidad, etc. during the 1800’s to work on their plantations, etc.

Fantastic curry, great attitude and free cookies! I usually get the shrimp curry, extra spicy, and they always give it the perfect level of heat with fresh chilies.

It’s possible, albeit a little unusual, esp. in these parts, to partake of traditional Fijian cuisine w/o much trace of the Indian influence. It’s certainly possible to have Indian food w/o any trace whatsoever of Fiji. I say, why limit yourself, I love Fijian, and love it that much more w/the curry, etc! I tried their spicy lamb curry over a bed of rice w/a lovely medley of tangy veggies suspended in some sort of vinagerette broth. Lovely. The lamb was a very generous portion of tender dainties — but have a care! There are numerous bone chips and frags strewn in the mix. A tasty meal, a good value($ 7 less the tip) served up fast. The portions are decidedly larger and spicier around the corner @ New Taste of India, and so that was the difference between 4 and 5 stars for me…

I decided to walk around downtown Portland, and stopped when I saw«Fiji» on her signboard. OK, I’ve seen Filipino, Cambodian, Guamanian, Indonesian… and now Fijian? Seriously, I never thought I’d see any of these cuisines in Oregon when I first moved here nearly five years ago. Upon closer inspection, the food I had was not really Fijian, but Indian. Until I came to this cart, I didn’t realize that Indian cuisine heavily influences Fiji’s cuisine. Yet, the first food I sampled from the cart was a chicken sandwich infused with Italian seasonings. Apparently, this was Rens’ way of incorporating more of the menu implied from her business card: espresso and sandwiches. The sandwich was quite good; a subtle Italian spice jab to the mouth never hurt anyone. Now what about these curries? Fish? Lamb? Chicken? Yeah, she’s got all of those. Fish is probably among the most popular choices, but since that would take a while to prepare, I opted to sample the lamb curry. Initially, Rens showed slight concern, noting it had some spice. I quickly assured her it wouldn’t be a problem, as long as 50 ghost peppers didn’t lay inside to dissect my digestive system. The lamb was tender, juicy, and delicious. The meat cooked in a blend of spices and a comforting sauce for about 45 minutes. I oped for the lamb curry here($ 7). More tender lamb and perfectly softened potatoes. An idea blend of curry seasonings blanket the palate. On the side, I got a sampling of the vegetarian long bean curry. The beans were perfectly cooked, again with enough soul-satisfying curry spices. The yogurt sauce here(combining plain yogurt, chiles, and cucumber) provides that refreshing contrast against the curries. Oh, I even got a cookie as a parting gift. Yes, pandas love cookies. Pandas love chocolate chips. Pandas will dance when eating chocolate chip cookies. Try out Taste of Fiji. The Indian flavors that you get are soul-satisfying!
