Tamale Factory

Had a chicken tamale plate today. Tamales were meh, too dry and didnt have much flavor. The rice and beans again were just meh. The salsa included was nice but didnt have an intense flavor either. Would have liked to see some guacmole or a spicy salsa… something to give this plate more interest. Honestly the frozen tamales at trader joes are just as good… which is dissapointing. Hopefully this place can make some adjustments and be great

This cart is new to the area, conveniently located right across from my workplace.
The first time I tried it was their first day open, and things were a little hectic, as expected on a first day open. The tamales were quite good, though the pork one was a little dry.
Since then I have eaten their quite a few times, and it’s one of my favorite places to lunch for the folowing reasons:
* The food is tastey. I love the Jalapeño and Cheese tamales. They are very cheesy and perfectly cooked. The pork ones have been great since the first day as well, not dry at all.
* It’s lightning quick. I know that is expected from a tamale cart, but having waited 20 minutes sometimes for food from the other carts in their pod, nearly my whole lunchtime, the importance of this feature to me cannot be overstated.
* The workers are friendly, service-​oriented, and aim to please. Another competitive advantage in their pod over some other carts.
* The rice and beans are excellent. As another reviewer said, they’re not greasy or overcooked, and the cilantro flavor is miild but adds nicely to them.
I’m glad to have this great little cart so close!

My boyfriend brought home the sweet potato tamales today, and they are TOTALLY MIND BOGGLING.
It’s like pumpkin pie filling, remixed. And in a tamale.
Get them.

Cart opened about 2 months ago I believe, and I’ve been eating there about 2 – 3 times per week. My wife likes it as well. We’re vegetarians so we order either the jalapeño tamales or the spinach and mushroom, both are excellent. We also like the flavorful cilantro rice and beans — tasty but not greasy or overcooked. The area this cart is in is very food challenged, there’s not much else nearby, so that makes Tamale Factory even more appealing. Give ‘em a try. :)
