Sunshine on Glisan Laundry & Cleaners

I started thinking that the laundromat business was dead in the water, then I came here. All the the machines worked, the onsite worker was friendly and helpful, the place was clean, all in all a pleasant experience.

Overpriced. Rude. I took my wet clothes and dried them somewhere else. Not going to spend money on a place that treats their customers with impoliteness.

This is my first time doing laundry here in a couple of years.

All front loading machines (which I love). They gently and thoroughly clean without tearing up clothes, or in my case tonight; small rugs and blankets.
And, besides taking quarters, all the machines also take credit cards. How nice to not have to deal with all those quarters.
Their new hours are till 11pm every day.

I come from the east coast where everyone gets their dry cleaning done and it is cheap and is done next-​day. I paid $ 2 per item back east for dry cleaning. Here I paid $ 18 for a coat to be dry cleaned. And it wasn’t ready for a week. I also got an entry mat washed/​dried and it came back falling apart. I guess it is okay because it is close to my house. But that is the only reason I would go there.

I retract my previous good review. Don’t use your card on the machines here. I used one washer priced at 4.75, swiped my card ONCE, and am being charged $ 10.00. Shame on you.

By far the worst laundrymat I’ve ever used. Its also by far the closest laundrymat to my current place, but today will be the last time. Many of their dryers don’t actually get hot. Today, as on other occasions, I had the misfortune of opening my dryer after 47 minutes of spinning to find that my clothes were cold and still damp. Last time this happened I told the tremendous grumpy lady who always works there. Without any apology or hint of manners, she asked which machine it was and walked over and added about ten quarters and started the machine, as if I wanted to sit there watching my cold clothes spin all day. On another occasion I started a large load, chose «hot water» and «extra soiled» which you pay extra for. I walked out to my van to put away the soap and then noticed a little sign on the door which said «no hot water today/​heater is being repaired». Wouldn’t you close your laundrymat temporarily if you have no hot water? Not these folks! They have a TV blaring constantly with the worst imaginable daytime drek; soap operas, etc. I just vented about with my roomate and he says he had similar experiences with Miss Bad Manners and will never go there again. In the future I will happily drive the extra mile.

Yeah well it’s not the Ritz, but really, what do you expect from a laundromat?
The machines do their job and the prices are about what all laundromats are. It does have WiFi that works… so there is that. Owners can be grumpy, just ignore them if you can. Bring your ipad, mp3 player, games on your phone, what ever it takes to distract yourself while you’re there and it will be over before you know it. :-)

I’ve been going here because it’s close to my house, both to use the machines and to bring my dry-​cleaning in… today I went in to try to use the change machine because I needed some quarters and the old man behind the counter stopped me from using the machines and ran me off because I wasn’t doing laundry at that moment. Bad call… you just lost out on years of business. And I have a lot of dry-​cleaning.
The actual place is dirty and usually unbearably hot, the washers and dryers take forever and cost a LOT compared to other laundromats, and staff is trashy (even for a laundromat). I was thinking about switching for dry-​cleaning anyway because my clothes always came back still smelling dirty. I would recommend the Belmont Eco Laundry instead, it’s a little far but it’s super clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the machines are both incredibly fast and take cards.
So the grumpy old man behind the counter probably did me a favor… so done with this place. Nice job.

Most of the other reviews here are old. This place has a brand new floor and is kept very clean. There was no lint, dust, or hair on the floors or machines when I was in. There is a good selection of washer and dryer sizes. Some are newer than others. The large ones that fit about six loads are $ 6 and the next largest that can fit about 4 loads in is around $ 4 depending on the kind of wash and water temperature. Dryers are large and cost 25 cents per 7 minutes. Most things are dry within about 21 – 28 minutes (.75−1.00). Detergent is for sale for 75 cents for a one load sized box. I came here because my washer was broken, but if I had to go to a laundromat on a regular basis I would come here.

All my clothes came out smelling like wet dog/​hamster cage. I dont even own animals. Dryers arent very good and timing on washers are off.

I hate how convenient this place is located, because it’s the only reason I’ll bother to go there. It’s not that it’s expensive. It’s dirty and the bathroom is just as filthy with only cold running water. I especially can’t stand coming because of the older lady that hounds you every time you come and repeatedly gives instructions to only fill the washer half way just in case you didn’t see the big sticker on each washer. I only come here when I’m desperate…

My boss’s company has an account with this place, so when I got a large amount of blood on the front of my shirt, I figured he could pay for the dry cleaning instead of me throwing it away. Honestly, I expected a small spot to appear somewhere on my shirt that was too stubborn for them to remove. They made the shirt look brand new. I’ve been there once before last summer to wash some military uniforms and equipment in one of their industrial washers, it worked great. The washers ended up being more in cost than I thought they would be, but I don’t use laundry mats often, and for the convenience of not have to wash multiple loads and saving time, it was great. The large dryers worked fast. I some how end up always walking into that place when «Let’s make a deal» is on TV at that place.

My favorite laundromat. Free wi-​fi is secure & works great. Only 1 outlet to plug in but its always been available. Upgraded and new washers for multiple loads. Dryers are the best in town. New, clean, and hot.

I picked up my dry cleaning a week ago and Penny was my miracle worker – AGAIN! First of all, she called me a day before my dry cleaning was scheduled to be done to tell me that she wanted to work on one of my favorite white tops with a splash of lace and tiny pearls in the front. I always get complimented on this shirt as it’s a very feminine and delicate shirt. The sad part is that I had gotten a stain on it that I had resorted to accepting as permanent as I had been unsuccessful in getting that stain out by other dry cleaners. Penny was so sweet, she left me a message telling me she wanted an extra day to work on this stain although I forgot to point it out to her and request some extra care on it. Although she wasn’t scheduled to come in that next day, she was going to come in just to work on the stain so that I can have my clothes back the day after. As considerate and thoughtful of an offer it was, I called and left a message for her to not worry about coming in her day off to work on it and I can wait until whenever it was done. This is what you call SUPERB quality customer service and dedication! When I came in that weekend to pick up my dry cleaning, Penny wasn’t there but my favorite white shirt was done and the forever stain on there was gone! Seriously… if you’re looking for good dry cleaning with dedicated service and excellent care, you don’t need to look further than this place. Thank you Penny for your awesome care and attention!

I’d like to consider myself none too picky about my laundry, as long as the washers and dryers do their job. Maybe it’s because of its proximity to 82^nd, but dang, this place was sub-​par by far. Children running around unattended, folks yelling across the laundromat, dirty floors and a clerk who seemed she would rather be getting a root canal than be working. The dirty floors was particularly tough for me because inevitably there is a sock that subjects itself to the laws of gravity.
It was a Monday night and I’m not sure if that’s the hip night to be doing laundry but it was quite busy and I had a difficult time getting some space to claim as my own. However, there were plenty of machines available to use which is a plus. It had WI-​FI which is cool and the connection was good but unfortunately there was no place to set my computer to actually be productive.
Now, I haven’t had to use a laundromat in quite a few years and maybe I’ve become spoiled but if this is how all laundromats are, I may just have to buy some extra underroos.

The machines and dryers tend to work well here.
Unfortunately, there are always drunken tweakers here doing laundry. They pull their shopping carts up to the place, drink beer in the parking lot, and haul garbage bags full of clothes into the business. Management seems not to mind. After having my vehicle vandalized in the parking lot, I think I’ll be going somewhere else.
This is not to say everyone who is there is a tweaker, but one bad apple…

As my very first laundromat experience, I didn’t know what to expect. The machines were nice enough; both washers and dryers are large-​capacity front-​loaders. $ 1.50/wash, save a quarter by using cold water. Only a quarter to dry? No wait, that’s for every 7 minutes (nowhere does it explain this).
Where I was mostly disappointed was the atmosphere. Okay, I wasn’t expecting it to be the hippest hangout place, but when you have to spend more than an hour somewhere, you’d like it to at least be comfortable. The chairs and tables must be from the 70s, and there isn’t a single outlet in the brick walls that keep the inside minimally warm. The one small TV in the corner is permanently stuck on a station with bad reception.
When your landlord is too lazy to fix the only washing machine in your building, take your laundry somewhere other than Glisan St Cleaners.
