History

Established in 2005.

Sugarpuss Beauty was born in 2005. The inspiration for the name Sugarpuss Beauty came from the 1941 film entitled «Ball of Fire». In the film, Barbara Stanwyck embodies a burlesque dancer full of moxie who’s name is Sugarpuss O’Shea. As described in the movie, Sugarpuss denotes a sweetness to one’s face, the opposite of sourpuss.

Sugarpuss Beauty operated out of two popular NE Portland salons for 6 years. During this time, Stephanie honed her skills as an esthetician & when the time was right, Stephanie decided to branch out on her own. She opened her own shop on Alberta Street called Sugarpuss Beauty Petite Spa & Boutique. Stephanie maintains the level of quality she has developed in past years and displays that same quality with the products she has chosen to carry in her shoppe.

Stephanie, much like her salon, is true diamond in the rough. Her style & sense of self are comforting, & she has a unique ability to make each client feel like a princess. I suppose some of this is due to her extensive background in film working as a make-​up artist on „Twilight“, „Extraordinary Measures“, & „Restless“. She continues to work on the locally filmed TNT television series „Leverage“. Stephanie received formal training in make-​up artistry at the Make-​Up Designory in Los Angeles & she completed her aesthetics training at the International Beauty School in Portland. She is well known for her brow shaping techniques and was honored in the top ten for facial and waxing services by Citysearch in 2008 and 2009.»

This (The Beauty Queen) is easily the biggest cosmetic adventure win that I’ve ever had. Things I love about these tintings: they don’t rub off, they don’t irritate my eyes, and they have an impact without looking fake. I also appreciate Stephanie’s judgement in going dark enough to make a difference, but not too dark, and in choosing a black that would look natural on me.

I live an hour and a half away, but the great reviews convinced me to book here and I wasn’t disappointed! I had my lashes and brows tinted and brows waxed. I’m 43 and had never had any of these services. Stephanie walked me through each item and was so helpful and welcoming. I’m so pleased with the results I feel like a new woman! Stephanie is awesome. I have been going to her now for what feels like eons — probably ten years. I feel a bit like a tool for not writing this sooner. Stephanie is the best brow waxer and eyelash tinter in Portland. Her space and bed is comfortable (I have had some awful experiences being tilted back in a hair stylist’s chair) and she is a true artist. Her style is great and I have never been disappointed. Look no further for your eyebrow lady!

I went to Stephanie for eyelash tinting after reading the great reviews on Unilocal.Stephanie treated my eyes with care. She is personable and her space is very cozy. I plan on going back for a facial treatment. I feel comfortable recommending Stephanie to my friends.

Stephanie is the best! I have been going to see her for 7 years now for eyebrow tinting and waxing and for bikini waxes. I recently started having my eyelashes tinted as well and I love it! Her space is inviting and relaxing and she is very gentle — a must for someone who is removing hair from your body! I just can’t imagine going anywhere else.

Stephanie has been waxing my eyebrows for over 10 years. She is absolutely THE BEST when it comes to waxing, especially brows. I live in Eugene, and oftentimes had to resort to seeing someone local for a brow wax — always a disappointment. No one does as good a job as Stephanie — she is an absolute PRO. Recently she gave me a lash tint /​dye, and the results were amazing! My lashes sans-​mascara were thick and lush and very dark. It was nice on days I didn’t want to wear much makeup, or at night when I have no makeup on at all and I hop into bed with my husband. I’ve also had several facials from her, very relaxing and the results have always been great. I highly recommend her, she’s a rare gem.

Stephanie is the best! I’ve been going to her for facials and waxing for the past six years. Her facials are luxurious and relaxing. The products she uses are gentle but nourishing which is a good fit for my temperamental skin. She is also amazing at shaping my eyebrows. I just visited Stephanie for a brow wax, and it is perfect as always. She has also introduced me to lash tints, an amazing way to open your eyes — very glamorous, but maintenance free. And, I cannot neglect to mention the hydrating facials that I’ve enjoyed — the most relaxing facials that I’ve ever had, and my skin is soft and glowing afterwards. I first went to Stephanie years ago when she was at another salon, and I was excited when she opened her own business. It is a beautiful, cozy space with touches of Stephanie’s vintage style. I also buy some great local, organic skin care products that she carries — so much better than trying to figure out these things on my own! Stephanie is a lovely person too, very easy to talk to. I have been seeing Stephanie for several years, first for nether-​region waxing, then for eyebrows, then for facials and then she did my wedding makeup. Everything she does is fantastic and I always leave feeling amazing. Everything about a visit is warm and inviting; the music, the décor and the conversation. When waxing, she is fast, thorough and makes it as painless as possible. Facials are a splurge for me, but they are worth every cent. In addition to making my skin glow, she gives THE BEST neck, shoulder and arm massages while her products do their work on my face. I struggle to stay awake so I won’t miss any of it. As for makeup, she a very professional and highly skilled artist. I must say, I looked like a dream on my wedding day. I’m so glad she was in charge of my face! I highly recommend this business. We are lucky to have her in Portland!

Stephanie and her products are both excellent and of the highest quality/​skill. I have very sensitive skin and have hesitated to get facials because of this. Luckily I don’t have to worry anymore! Stephanie’s treatment (facial and brow wax) had my skin looking deliciously smooth and not irritated at all. The experience was very relaxing and I nearly fell asleep.
