BEWARE !!! I hired Dee on thumbtack back in feburary 2014. I purchased the $ 500.00
Package. It was neither least or most expensive package she offered. It says I will get photos and shoot. I believe it says 5 body shots and 3 head shots. Dee was on higher end of places who contacted me. She sounded knowledgable so unfortunately I hired her. She is never forthfront when I ask about what is included in package. I have asked a few times because she know says photos are $ 20.00 a piece extra. Her thumbtack contract does not match to what she will try to charge you later. She mostly photographs girls. I was having photos of my son done. She told me she would go to very high end shops for a fee and get loaner clothes for his shoot. When we met her at stores this what not what she did at all. She just was showing us what she thought we should buy for his shoot. I could have shopped on my own without her. She also had option for fee to have professional hair/​makeup. Of course we picked that. What a mistake! No professional did his hair.
Dee did his hair and it looked poorly. I have stylist who was more than happy to do his hair and when she did it looked good, she also was much cheaper. So she also said he needs a photo with girl or two. She had some in mind and would arrange. Since she was not good at following through i told my son to bring his friend. Luckily he did because once again Dee didnt do what she said. To this point I have paid her $ 700.00. The photo shoots took from may to august to complete. Some of that was due to our schedule and some due to her. Now I have been trying to get her to give us our photos that were in package that I agreed to on thumbtack. She stated they are $ 20.00 each. I told her i purchased the $ 500.00 and have paid $ 700.00. I won’t pay more. She said she charged for my sons friend in pictures. Ok i guess even though she is one who didnt follow through and we were lucky enough to have the girl there for shoot i can accept that. So now I have paid this money to her and not only do we have no pictures ever since I let her know through emails (several now) and many texts that we are not investing any more money into this photo shoot and we do want our pictures (which she last stated only digital included now) she is not responding to me at all.
SCAMMER …BEWARE OF DEE… BEWARE or her studio, her life coaching BRWARE of anything she is offering. Dee is a scammer!!!

I had a great experience with D and her assistant. i would go back to her anytime!

I signed up to take a make up class. Three people showed for the class. Dee was not one of them. She had contacted none of us to tell us she would be late or needed to reschedule. I called and left a message that we were waiting for the class. We all stuck around for about 20 minutes and eventually gave up and left. Dee never called me back to explain why she no showed for a class that was booked over a month ago.

I will state only the facts since Dee of Studio D has threatened me with litigation for «lible and slander» I posted in my previous Unilocal review. I had my photo shoot in March 2013 and have yet to see my prints in the mail, and at this point, I have given up. I even reported to the Better Business Bureau but Dee did not respond. Her communication was such that I had to continue to track her down to get information on if the photos were done.
It’s not a coincidence that so many people are unhappy with their experience. In short, DO NOT do business with Studio D.

I wish I had read reviews of studio D prior to purchasing the groupon. The photo shoot itself was fun — Dee makes you feel very relaxed and has some good ideas for poses — then you wait, and wait, and wait. She almost never answers emails or phone calls and IF you get a response she always has an excuse as to why your product isn’t ready (it’s always the printers fault). I feel as if I would have purchased her outrageously priced photo albums ($ 400 — $ 800!!!) instead of just wanting what was included with the groupon MAYBE I would have received better service? I had my photo shoot in July and I still have not received any of the actual pictures. I did get my digital prints (not easily 2 months later, I might add) which are so obviously horribly photoshopped I will never use. When I purchased this groupon I purchased a bunch of frustration not a product. I kept putting off writing this review thinking she couldn’t possibly be this bad all of the time but I’m fed up. If I can save one person from the amount of frustration working with Dee causes it is worth it. My advice — STAY FAR AWAY from this business!

I purchased a groupon for a boudoir shoot with Studio D. You definitely need to schedule way in advance to try in get in. I had problems where I was rescheduled by Dee, but was able to get in right before my groupon expired.
As far as the shoot went it was an enjoyable experience. I wish I could break down the actual shoot versus customer service as though would be two different ratings. I got my to preview my photos about 2.5 weeks after my photo shoot. I decided to go with ordering a photo book as a gift. It was about 3 weeks before the date I needed the book. Dee reassured me that if I paid the $ 30 for expedited shipping that the book would be done in time. The photo book was $ 250, so I paid close to $ 300 for this book.
Every week or so I would check in with Dee via email. Sometimes she would email me back and other times I wouldn’t hear anything. About a week before I was expecting the book, I contacted her via email and she said the printer was slow. A few days prior the expected date, I was informed it would not make it in time, but Dee would provide me with 3 digital prints that I could then print off myself to give as a gift on my anniversary date. I sent her my options and then never heard anything back. So my anniversary date came and went.
I at this point was so frustrated on the lack on communication and poor business practices that I just wanted to get my book. So I patiently waited and would send an email every 4 – 5 days about the status on my book. One email response was, «I got notice of a package, your book is probably in there, I will let you know.» Then I heard nothing, to which I then had to email again. I think I got a response a few days later that my photo book was in. So essentially I got the photo book 2 weeks after I ordered, which was 5 weeks after the original order.
I just wish that Dee would be a little more respectful of people’s time and would be better about improving communication. If something is running late, just let me know and I will not be upset, however the lack of communication is aggravating.
I do not recommend people got to Studio D until her views on customer service change.

How dare you Studio D lie to me and say you never heard back from me? You sent me a email apologizing for not getting back to me and that your person who answers your phone you were getting rid of don’t blast me like that cause I will put the damn email post on here. You are very rude anyway to wanna post a comment 8 months later? Once again shows how you are. Get your life you and your sucky studio.

Dee’s response to my review is another example of why I would not recommend ANYONE to this business, what she posted is a flat out lie. Dee absolutely DID NOT offer compensation for the inconvenience. In addition it was not an online booking calendar failure. I personally spoke with Dee on the phone/​and email to set our appointments. Dee offered dates that she had available, booking was done this way. I still have all of the email correspondence saved that proves this.
I don’t feel that this is a Groupon restriction issue as Dee claims. It is simply horrible business practice. After the 3^rd appointment that Dee had set, then claimed we weren’t on her calendar I called groupon to request a refund. I figured that after 3 times is wasn’t just an honest mistake, but a common occurrence for Dee and her business.

The worst business I have ever dealt with. Still waiting to receive my photographs after waiting four months. Rude, unprofessional and unresponsive. Avoid this business and person at all costs. There are plenty of people who would love to have your business and will treat you with respect and professionalism. Receiving money for services not delivered is just fraud.

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience at studio d. I had my photoshoot August 2012, and didn’t receive my photos until mid January 2013, even though she assured me they would be done in time for my anniversary in November 2012. My photoshoot experience could have been worse, as she did a decent job styling my hair, and had lots of good ideas for how I should pose, and made me feel very comfortable, but the makeup didn’t turn out great in the pictures, and she didn’t show me what it looked like before we got started, and there are no mirrors in the studio, which made it hard to get dressed in my sassy boudoir attire. Her assistant was very sweet, and made up for Dee’s lack of customer service.
My biggest issues with Dee didn’t surface until I e-​mailed her the first time (about a month before my anniversary in Nov) asking if my photos would be done by then. I had not heard from Dee since my photoshoot, and I was curious if the photos could atleast be viewed yet. Her email back was impossible to understand, had no punctuation and almost everything was misspelled. It was bizarre and unprofessional, and she made several excuses as to why the photos were taking so long. November rolls around, and still no word, so I emailed again, and got almost the exact bizzare email I had gotten the first time. This basically continued until I finally got word from her in January of 2013 saying that my photos were ready to be picked up at her studio. I had warned her that I would be out of town in January in a previous email, but she obviously didn’t remember, so I told her I would pick them up when I got back into town in a week, but she said that wouldn’t work because they were switching studios or something weird. At this point I was so furious with her I said that I refused to wait any longer for the damn photos and if she could ship/​drop them off at my house, or work that’d be great. She of course said no, that wasn’t part of the deal, so which I basically said neither is waiting 5 months for 2 prints and 3 digital images… After that she finally agreed to drop them off at my job.
I got back into town, viewed my mediocre images and realized she still hadn’t sent my digital images, so I emailed her yet again, asking if I could get those, as well. She replied «oh, have I not given those to you yet?»… Incredible. There is a lot more to this story, but I feel this covered most of my frustrations with studio d, and Dee in particular.

Rude, unprofessional and awful to deal with from start to finish. The owner made me feel like she was doing me a favour simply by taking my business. Rarely returned phone calls, consistently «lost» emails and never offered explanations or apologies. In addition to the complete lack of basic customer service, the photography was sub-​par. Dealing with Studio D was a huge frustration and complete fail.

I had my photo shoot yesterday, and I can’t say enough nice things about Dee and her makeup artist. They put me at ease, were very professional, and made me look so beautiful! The few shots I saw during the shoot were great, but I can’t wait to see the full finished package! This entire experience was a positive one, and I would recommend doing it if you’ve ever even considered it!
