Stavros Pizzeria & Deli

Ordered food from Stavros last night for the first time. Huge foodie… was absolutely delighted with my order! Ordered the teriyaki steak tips dinner wich comes with fries, bread & butter and a salad! Everything was fresh and on point! Couldn’t be a happier customer!

My husband swears by the steak bomb. He does a happy food dance when he eats it. I always get the chicken tenders and this is our quick to Windham Sunday stop. Easy to call and make your take out order from home and it’s done when we are there. Great place for take out easy to find and parking.
I wouldn’t sit in just because that isn’t me in as I consider a take out stop.

I tied Stavros for the first time today. I was looking for just a quick sub at lunch time. I got the steak and cheese. It was good, but nothing special about it. It could use some more cheese to be honest. The bread they use is great though. Nice and soft like a steak and cheese bread should be.
The staff were friendly and there was no line when I arrived. My sub was done in about 3 minutes. Though the sub was not as I expected I will definitely return to try something else, maybe the pizza next time.

I come to this place once or twice a week but today my ham sub had 4 strands of hair in it, how disgusting. Who ever made the large ham sub with no cheese at 11:45am today you should clean up your act. And also what happened to the friendly counter people.

I just ordered delivery here for the first time. I usually do pizza from Leonardo’s which is right down the street from Stavros. Unfortunately Leonardos was closed early tonight for some equipment maintenance. My wife and I were feeling lazy and really wanted some delivery pizza so we decided to take a gamble and try this place out.
I’m sorry to report that there was really nothing special about our food experience. We ordered a large cheese pizza, some buffalo wings, and some fried mushrooms. the wings and mushrooms were clearly the kind that come out of a big plastic bag in the freezer and they cooked the wings way too long so they were dry and way to crunchy. The wings are also the breaded frozen type which I don’t personally like. the pizza also appeared to be on a pre-​made frozen crust (although I can not confirm this just yet) they put way to much cheese on it and when I tried to pull out a slice all the cheese slid right off the whole slice.
Perhaps this Greasy pre-​made «greek-​pizza» joint appeals to a certain clientele but in a foodie town like Portland with pizza joints like Otto’s, Slab, and Leonardo’s to name a few, Stavros will have to try a little harder to win my business. I’m pretty sure if you served this junk in Greece they would spit it back in your face even with their economy in the tank

We received a flier in the mail offering some coupons so we decided to give this place a try. Having no transportation, and with a family member being homebound we’re always on the lookout for good delivery places that are not just pizza.
We ordered Bacon Cheeseburger Baskets that were exactly as we wanted them — one w/​no ketchup and one without all the veggies. The Bacon Cheeseburgers were excellent.
The only reason we are not giving 5 stars is that each Burger Basket comes with a half an order of french fries and onion rings and those were so overcooked we were unable to eat them. We would have been better off just ordering the burgers alone.
The onion rings were more breading than onion so those and the crisp to blackened french fries went into the trash.
Deli sandwiches were ordered as well:
Roast Beef 10″ and a Turkey Club 10″ and they were very good. Just the right portions of everything and nice fresh rolls.
A chocolate chip cookie split for 2, topped off everything. It was better than some we’ve had, was wrapped in tin foil, and though we forgot about it until late Sunday afternoon, was still fresh.
I don’t know what else they offer for dessert as that was all that was offered when I placed the order.
A real plus was that everything was marked so you didn’t have to go through all the different packages to find what was yours. A lot of places could learn from this and take the few extra minutes to so this.
The female who took the order was very efficient and did get all the special requests correct, though she did sound as if I was more of a bother than I really wanted to feel. If this is the norm, then it would be really nice to be able to order on the web and bypass calling in.

I found Stavros Pizzeria and Deli as a result of wondering around Portland. I am new to the area, moved here from Boston back in September and I was trying to find a neighborhood place that served an excellent pizza. The building caught my attention first: it is very clean and white, I decided to give it a try and was glad I did! I have never had a bad experience there no matter what I ordered but my personal favorites are Hawaiian and Greek pizzas, Steak Bomb sub, Grilled chicken salad, and Reuben sandwich. I keep coming back fro more and they also deliver which is very convenient during the winter months will all that snow! :) Highly recommend it!!!

You have one of the best pizza’s around so I HAD to drive the 30 miles and give you one more shot yesterday.
Glad that I did… Because you totally redeemed yourselves! (And truth be told… I wasn’t sure I’d be able to resist your pizza & fries much longer anyway… so I’m really, really happy that you did). ;)
Thank you for not just ignoring the issue (as many businesses would typically do). It really makes a world of difference when your customers know you actually care about their issues/​concerns and take action to correct them. So again, I thank you!

I tried Stavros during a business trip because their steak bomb caught my eye due to its uniqueness… normally you get peppers, onions and mushrooms on your sandwich, but Stavros goes a step further and added ham to the mix. It doesn’t sound like much, but let me tell you… excellent. If you are passing through Portland, I highly recommend you give it a try.

A friendly neighborhood place. A great stop for when you want a salad, pizza, sandwiches or some traditional Greek style foods or treats.

Wish I had found this place sooner during my graduate schooling!
PROS:
— Plenty of parking, tables, and specials/​choices!
— Friendly customer service
— Right across the street from USM. Can walk from USM Glickman’s library ~5minutes).
CONS:
— Don’t expect to get your food right away. It takes awhile for your order to be ready but it’s worth the wait!
TIPS:
— USM and UNE students can get discounts with their student ID card
RECOMMENDATIONS:
— Hawaiian Pizza (I recommend getting a side of marinara sauce as dipping sauce for the crust)
— Mozzarella sticks (comes with a side of marinara)

We had a terrible experience here. We ordered chicken gyros that were big chunks of chicken and smothered in so much tzatziki sauce that they were inedible. The large fry was very small, soggy and also inedible. After reviewing the receipt to see if the gyros had been ordered incorrectly we discovered that we had been over charged a significant amount. We had to go back to get our money refunded. We will not be going back, and would not recommend this. To anyone.

I’ve enjoyed take out from here. lots of choices and the y deliver quickly as well.
