And we serve them all day long. We also have hot pressed paninis, lunch sandwiches, seasonal soups, salads and specials. Looking for something to drink? Not only do we serve Portland Roasting coffee, we also have specialty martinis and mixed drinks along with beer and wine. Our Bloody Mary’s are the best! We have our own bakery below us that makes the best pot pies and desserts. And we can’t go a day without someone saying our cheesecake is the best they have ever had. Come try a piece with an Espresso Mocha Martini. You will swear by it too!

History

Established in 2004.

Stark Street Station is located in a beautiful 100 year old building that was once a horse and buggy firehouse. The historical Station 19. Our floors are the original brick and have never been altered; You can see where the fireman’s pole once was. We pay homage and take great pride in our history. Thanks to the Historic Belmont Firehouse and the P.F.D. for their generous donations of historical pieces to our building! We feel so privileged to be a part of such an awesome community. There aren’t many places like this anymore.

I’m so sick of this place messing up my order. I’ve been coming here for 6 years. Within the past couple years EVERY TIME they mess something up. The quality of food has gone down (i.e. Used to have fresh guacamole, now it’s packaged. Used to make eggs fresh for breakfast sandwiches, now they are made before and microwaved to order) I never write reviews and could have openly complained about this place a million times but I keep hoping it will get better and it NEVER DOES. Just today I ordered cheddar cheese and got Swiss. It’s ALWAYS SOMETHING. My business here has dropped dramatically as has the business of my friends that live in the neighborhood. We only patron the place now because it’s pretty much the only option in the nearby hood. Who’s running this place? Why don’t you care about your product? Get it together, Coopers (Stark Street) whatever you want to be called nowadays… You’re slowly weeding out all regular customers with poor service. Except the coffee group, and I doubt they pay your bills with a $ 1 cup of joe…

Overpriced and in unattentive staff. I ordered a «homemade» vegetarian lasagna, and waited forever to get it. The girl behind the counter carried on two separate conversations before she realized she forgot my order. She then told me «you could have said something…» I didn’t know how long the «homemade» lasagna took, I had never been there before. The lasagna was finally served, and it was strangely familiar… Yeah it was totally frozen Stouferr’s lasagna. I guess melting frozen cheese is considered homemade at Stark Street Station. Had I known I could have bought an entire family size box for the same price, I probably could have gone to the store, went home and heated it up in the same amount of time I waited for it there.

What we have here is a pretty old-​school, neighborhood, straightforward coffee shop. How un-​hip is this place? Inside, there was an old man, whittling. Unironically. If that’s not positively Mayberry, then I don’t know what is.
Thing is, I dig it. They serve good coffee, and I built my own tasty-​as-​heck breakfast bagel sandwich, each of which was served by an incredibly friendly barista/​sandwich maker. I had no problem finding a table, complete with electric outlet and complimentary wifi.
If you just want to buckle down and get some work done (or have a small meeting, as I ended up doing), then this is a pretty solid choice. Just make sure you clean up your whittlin’ scraps.

Doubt I will try this place again.
It’s one thing to complain about your customers when you’re off the clock and not at work, everyone does from time to time.
It’s another thing to talk about previous patrons in front of current customers. I always feel so awkward and wonder what might be said about me when I walk out the door. Especially when it is as minor as people asking about your menu.
Also, You serve food, I purchased your food. Why allow your friend to bring their dog inside?

I used to love this place when it was Coopers! I’ve tried over and over to go here because its in my hood and serves gluten-​free but the owner (I think) is such a jerk! I’ve given him probably 5 tries but the ruling’s in he’s an ass on all days. I refuse to go there anymore because of him. I’ll drive across town for gluten-​free bagels to boycott that guy.

3 stars because a guy that works there was an ASSHOLE more than once. Our coffee and chai was good but unfortunately just can’t go anymore because of him. Having someone serve you with horrible customer service just ruins the experience. Bummer.

Great little coffee shop for the North Tabor area. I popped in on a sunny Saturday morning very pleased to find that they had almond milk. I ordered a simple almond milk latte, which was served in a big mug. The woman who helped me was very nice and friendly, and the barista was equally kind. The coffee was a great non-​Stumptown option and the atmosphere was quiet and modern. I enjoyed reading my book in the café without any interruptions, even on a Saturday morning!

Everyone is friendly and attentive. Coffee is really good. Nice mix of patrons. Ice net some very interesting folks here. Relaxed ambience for chatting, reading, studying. Check out the creative wood work the guy across the street did on his house.

I came in looking for the spiciest latte they could make. Lacking jalapeño syrup or a spicy chai (sweet only) he got creative by adding about a teaspoon of Sriracha to my 16 oz mexi-​mocha. So tasty and just what I needed to burn away this sore throat. THANK YOU! I’ll definitely order that again!

They make a decent latte and I found the staff to be very friendly. I’ll always pick an independent shop over the chains when I can and I was satisfied with my experience at Stark Street Station.

I am all about the people that run a place. John makes this establishment great. He is super friendly and makes an awesome latte! John also knows his music and speaks on it with eloquence.
I walked in expecting an average coffee shop to kill some time. WRONG! This place looks like it has killer food that I will definitely be back to sample. They had many varieties of quiche (whoch I love)!
I expected the usual Sugar Free Vanilla or Caramel. Boy was I wrong. John read of an extensive list of options which pleases me greatly. I settled on Sugar Free White Chocolate Mocha. It was awesome. The décor was pleasant and I could see hanging out here. I love that Portland continually reveals these hidden gems all around for discovery. I can’t wait to come back and try more. AWESOME!!!

I’d probably give 4 stars but the barista (male with bad hair that he thinks is good) is rude. The coffee and atmosphere is good but you never get a smile there.
Also, they keep the high chair in the back and its a HUGE inconvenience (on their part) if you ask them to get it for you. I don’t know — I just wish they were more polite and friendly.

My youngest son and I rode down Tabor and came out on the wrong side. While riding home we stopped off at Stark Street Station for coffee and hot chocolate. They were really friendly and had pretty good local roast coffee. They also treated my 8 year old really well. This will now be a stop every time I am riding up Stark.

Great location and atmosphere but really typical café food and drinks. I got the tapioca, an overly sweet gut bomb, and my husband got a weird blended mocha that was super bitter. Customer service was not quite right either. Definitely not worth it!

The coffee? It was… coffee. Here in stumptown we’ve gotten used to a higher degree of coffee artistry and they have that, as expected.
What I didn’t care for: picked the place off of Unilocal based on location and hours. Met up w/​study group, only to be informed that the place closes at 7pm, not 8pm as noted on Unilocal.When I pointed this out to the employee on duty, the response was, «yeah, Unilocal’s all screwed up».
You DO know anyone can go onto Unilocal and edit business info (which is then QA/QI’ed by super smart monkeys or something)… doncha?
Will give it another try and revamp the stars if applicable.

I like this place for a wifi spot. It’s a comfortable place. I just don’t think the staff is all that friendly. The best barista in the place had a lot of ink and big hair. Loved her and now she’s gone :(
One morning the person who was to open just didn’t show up. The place opens super early. 6:30am. Waited until 7:30 for her to get out of bed and show up. OK, I can let this slide once. On a subsequent morning she said, I don’t have the password, do you still want your coffee. I told her no and left.
They have a good variety of morning type pastries but to my knowledge, nothing gluten-​free. We glutards have to have something to eat.
So with all that plus the fact that they, like most others now, have no drip decaf. 3 stars.

You know there are two styles of coffee-​houses. Those dedicated strictly to coffee snobbery, with some space to hang out with your laptop, and those dedicated more to the ‘coffeehouse culture’, again with a space to hang out with a laptop. Sometimes you want to deal with type one, the result being an insanely good cuppa from single-​origin hand-​roasted double-​snooted beans. Other times you simply need a place to hide with a laptop for a while, and if you’re willing to deal with less-​than desirable roast, they work fine. This second style represents the coffeehouse backbone of any city. Stark Street Station seems to be one of those.
They use Portland Roasting coffee here. There are more robust food options than your average espresso hut, including GF options from New Cascadia Traditional. Wifi is fast and free with purchase. The vibe seems chill, with a nice guy working the counter and customers that don’t bother you. Indoor area is dark, but the patio is great for basking in the sun and watching the cars on Stark go by. It’s right on the side of Tabor at 60th so it’s convenient for the folks that live over there. So if you have gluten issues or you find Portland Roasting coffee to be passable, this spot will do you just fine.
If, like me, you care a lot about your coffee, unless you’re a fan of PR’s style, you may venture elsewhere. But as a neighborhood joint, this serves. And I think the folks working here are nice, so I’m happy to support with an A-​OK.
