Portland, OR
Portland is enhanced by having the Stark Street Island. It is a small park in the middle of the street near East Portland Community Center, Mall 205 and multiple light rail stops. There is a water fountain, no drinking fountain, but lots of trees. Plenty of shade can be found here.
I went to this park after having seen it, but not deciding to go to it several times. The benches were dry despite the beginning of rain. The way that the water was moving about the fountain was elegant.
It is advisable to go to Stark Street Island if you are nearby.
