Ok service, great location-would I go here if Bard was open – probably not. Great holiday decorations and bathrooms are located(if you’re looking at the registers) down the hall on left.

I’m always going to have a soft spot in my heart for this particular Starbucks — it’s where I fell in love with the Old Port at when I was a teenager. I was on the cusp of adulthood, and my mom bought me both a stuffed duck from Treehouse Toys and a Frappuccino® from Starbucks to capture that moment of emotional juxtaposition. I stood on those cobblestoned streets and got overwhelmingly emotional as I realized: I loved this city more than anywhere else and someday I was going to live here. Maybe corny, maybe irrelevant, but it’s the very clear, very beautiful memory I have of my first time at this Starbucks. Sure, Starbucks is a massive corporation. Sure, the drinks are expensive. Sure, the coffee itself isn’t amazing. But it’s consistent. Especially this location. Over the course of many, many years the staff always seems to be the same(even though they’re not). They are no nonsense bots who have one task: to get you your coffee as quickly as possible considering this is one of the highest volumes ‘Bux in Maine(I assume). Every now and then — on an especially slow day, a snowy day, or late at night before they close, you’ll see the staffs personality(and usually it’s very charming). But don’t expect more from your interaction otherwise. The location is distinct — it’s on the corner of Exchange and Middle Street — making it positively ideal for those walking, but terrible for people looking to park to grab a coffee real quick. The space inside is also unique — it’s got this moody, long hall feel to it, with only a handful of seats against the enormous windows looking out onto Exchange, and a few pods of chairs around the corner when you first enter. For me, this has never been a meeting space, somewhere to work out of the home office from, or a place you linger with friends. It’s a grab-n-go locale — which is fine, because there’s plenty of Portland to be wandered through while you’re sipping your beverage!

This is a fine Starbucks with not a lot of Tables for seating. The folks who work there were accommodating and the location is perfect for people watching.

Can’t go wrong with Starbucks to caffeinate the body for another long drive road trip! But the question is, is it worth it? Nope, not at all. I can survive without Starbucks overpriced drinks for small sizes. I rather go to Dunkin Donuts but I didn’t spot one nearby. Why is a small called a Tall? And a medium called a Grande?

Bf and I stopped by this Starbucks briefly during our Main trip to caffeinate before we started our long drive back. Typical Starbucks, nothing stand out or particularly problematic about the place… not sure why the reviews were so negative? We got in right as they were closing and were the only ones there. I found service to be quite friendly and efficient.

I had to repeat my order three times and they still got it wrong. Ordering a medium roast with a shot of peppermint should not be this hard to do.

Writing this while looking at filthy windows inside and out, but with smears from someone’s half assed effort at cleaning them. Sticky counters littered with used sugar packets etc. Three employees standing around doing nothing between customers. Looks and feels like a dump. Beyond that, it’s a Starbucks.

There are plenty of coffee shops in Portland. This is one of the things I noticed on my recent trip. We tried several of them and they were good. However, you know what your getting with the Bux. They were close to our hotel within walking distance and in the middle of everything that’s going on in Old Port so it was convenient for us to pick up some Joe in the morning or after a meal. Friendly staff, good seating and your typical coffee. Can’t go wrong with the Bux !!! Even in Maine when your from Miami.

Consistent Starbucks. Friendly, efficient and good espresso. 5 shot Americano following a fresh seafood lunch.

All of the coffee wonderful with consistent, efficient service. This location deserves a good review. It occupies prime corner real estate and provides commanding views of sidewalk foot traffic and the post office plaza park. On street parking is free until 9 am. Expansive windows and long single seating counter provide a perfect perch for a morning pick me up. There are also three four top tables and a couple of cushioned chairs. Skip them. Seated high on a chair at the counter you’ll be like a great caffinated owl, presiding over the comings and goings of the good people of Portland. One would think chain coffee stores are a cookie cutter experience however this one isn’t. Somewhow music, location and staff have come together to make this store stand out. Enjoy a consistent cup of coffee without the ‘cooler than thou’ hipster attitude percolating in a few independent shops.

Nice Starbucks, friendly and fast staff, good coffee in a great location. Plus, it was cold and snowy outside, and this was a nice, warm oasis to spend some time in.

Best Starbucks I’ve ever been to! I came here on a trip from my native California and was needing a place to kill some time so I stopped in for a coffee. I was having a really bad day; totally bummed out. I guess the woman at the cash register noticed because she completely cheered me up! She was so sweet and talkative! Even wrote a heart on my cup next to my name! If I ever come back to the east coast, I’m making a special trip here. This girl made my day. :’)

I’m anti-Starbucks, but this location deserves a good review. When my friend got an undrinkable, disgusting iced coffee right across the street at Bard Coffee, she came here for another one. When she explained to the cashier/barista what had happened, the employee got her a large iced coffee and said that it was complimentary because she felt bad about my friend’s negative experience at Bard. Needless to say, my friend was very happy about this and really appreciated the great service. I’m not sure if this kind of thing would ever happen at a NYC Starbucks.

It’s a starbucks, you pretty much know what to expect. They do need to clean up more frequently, especially the restroom. And seriously, why is it so cold in there? :(

This is one of the *good* Starbucks. The staff are courteous and efficient. The place is pretty clean, though it could be cleaner, which is why only four stars.(They need to zip around and clean the table tops and give the floor a quick sweep more often.) It’s in a very good location to do some people watching and having walking access to a key shopping area in Portland. It’s also right by the movie theater so it’s good for a quick coffee before the movie(especially if you like having to pee before the movie is over), and it’s also good for a post-movie discussion. If there are no seats when you walk in, wait a couple of minutes and a table for two or bar seat will open up.
