We specialize in pro audio recording in numerous genre’s, including rap, hip-hop, rock, acoustic, and electronic music. We also offer voice-over services for television, commercials, and audiobooks. We can also mix/master your old home recordings, and bring them up to professional level!
We also offer practice space at very affordable rates (hourly)!
History
Established in 2011.
Cory Vanagas, owner and lead engineer, formed the business in 2011 after having spent 5 years prior playing music and touring throughout the Western United States. His music experience, entrepreneurial spirit computer know-how, he decided to create SoundLab.
Despite the fact that had no professional training when it came to audio engineering, in 2011, he threw himself into the deep end and can gladly say that the tones he evokes within the Lab rival some of the million-dollar studios in town!
Today, SoundLab is the best overall value in the Portland area for pro audio engineering! He currently has two network television shows that are doing post-production work in the Lab, as well as several hip hop, singer-songwriter, and rock clients! He’s worked with a multitude of artists in the Northwest, and has worked with clients from as far as Brazil!

Business Owner
Cory Vanags began playing music at a very young age, but did not begin playing heavily until his 17th birthday. Four years later, he was already touring the Western US, having played every major city from Seattle to Vegas. Wanting to find a solid buffer-gig to employ in conjunction with his music career, he decided to take up engineering!
Since then, he’s worked with a multitude of clients, and has recorded everything from hip hop and rock, to music as far reached as African Gospel!
Today, Cory continues to play in two bands (one of which being Mangled Bohemians), and run the studio regularly. Despite having no formal education or training as an audio engineer, the recordings he produces rival many from the million-dollar studios across town!
Cory is a very laid back guy. He’s the kind of engineer who will send you a mix at 2am if its an emergency. He listens intently, and genuinely cares about his clients, the art process, and the end result.
