Smiles on Sandy offers all types of dentistry, including cosmetic, family, and sedation dentistry. We understand people are apprehensive about the dentist. They want someone they can trust to gently and carefully care for their oral health needs. Our goal is to make the experience as comfortable and calming as possible, while promoting a beautiful, healthy smile. We offer nearly all types of dental treatment here in the office, including white cosmetic restorations, extractions, children’s dentistry, root canals, periodontal treatment, sedation, in addition to nearly all other types of dentistry. Only rarely is it necessary to refer a patient to another office. Dr. Daby’s has taken extensive continuing education courses and routinely offers treatments other offices need to refer to additional offices. Patients appreciate the friendly, familiar staff and the relationships that are built between office and patient over many years. We look forward to meeting you!

History

Established in 2005.

The office was originally started in in the 1950’s by Dr. Herbert Marshack. His son, Dr. Kenneth Marshack continued the practice until 2005 when he sold the practice to Dr. Jon Daby. Dr. Daby has owned and operated the business with much of the same, wonderful staff that supported Dr. Marshack. We focus on building long lasting relationships with our patients and their families.

Business Owner

Jon M. Daby D.D.S. graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2003. He received further advanced training by completing a one-​year residency in Syracuse, NY at the Upstate Medical University Hospital. Dr. Daby has continued to receive advanced post-​doc training in implants, root canal treatment, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry, among other specialties through many hours of continuing education.

Dr. Daby enjoys spending time with his son. His hobbies include skiing, mountaineering, biking, and camping. As a native of North Dakota, he enjoys year-​round outdoor activities in the beautiful Northwest.

Just had a great first visit this morning. Two years ago, my former dentist told me I had a small cavity that needed filling — I had to beg to put my tooth on a «watch» list instead. After avoiding dentists ever since, I went in today expecting the worst. Dr. Daby took a look and said my tooth didn’t even rise to the level of official «watching» and I walked out with a clean bill of health! Dr. Daby is kind and knowledgeable, and most importantly, he takes a conservative approach to dental issues — hooray! Also, my hygienist was not only gentle and informative, she was also wickedly funny and put me quickly at ease. I’m used to feeling a little guilty at the dentist, but today I was complimented on the good care I’m taking of my teeth. I’ll definitely be back in 6 months — I trust these people and you will too.

Our family had our first visit today at Smiles on Sandy thanks to referrals of friends. We were not disappointed with Dr. Darby and his staff. They got us all in with back to back appointments and were very informative and thorough. The office is clean and they use up to date technology. Olivia was great with having the paperwork ready when we were done, explaining our dental benefits and made sure we didn’t have any more questions. My teenage daughters had nothing but good things to say as we left and didn’t mind that they have to come back for fillings.

Came in for an initial visit. everyone was nice as can be. Very professional! I put off going to the dentist for a very long time, but I think I’ve found a good team I can work with here.

I, like a majority of people, have a healthy fear of dentists. This is due to hack jobs done at discount clinics when I was young and uninsured. This fear led to 15 years of dental avoidance. I knew it was high time to suck it up and get a prognosis. I found that a handful of my colleagues see Dr. Daby and they all recommended him knowing I had a phobia. The hardest part for me was calling for an appointment.
The staff took it from there. They squeezed me in at the end if the year so I could make good use of my unused benefits, took X-​rays and gave an evaluation without an ounce of guilt!
My gums were bad enough to be referred to a specialist but we were able to get some fillings out of the way in the meanwhile. His numbing technique is amazing! Just a couple pokes and some massage and I was completely numb for hours. He didn’t work on teeth that may possibly be pulled depending on the specialists evail AND he discounted the one filling that was an easier job than planned. The people here are fantastic at what they do and I really appreciated the no guilt approach. I HIGHLY recommend them to all, especially the phobic!

My sister has gone to Smiles on Sandy for at least thirty years and referred me to Dr. Daby for a consultation on possibly a full set of upper dentures. Every dentist that I have gone too has treated me in a sub-​human way because, unfortunately I was not blessed with the greatest of teeth, and was treated as if I didn’t care about them so they didn’t care what they did to them.
This is THE place to go to be treated with kindness, compassion, non– judgment and complete professionalism.
Dr. Daby did not do what every other Dentist has done to me like just saying «your teeth and gums are beyond repair so when you are ready I’ll pull them all out for you when you get dentures.» Instead, he did a through exam and found teeth that could stay and recommended a partial.
All the preparation before getting the actual partial was completely painless and all of his staff were so kind and considerate. Not «condescendingly kind,» but «truly» kind.
When the day came for the actual «pulling» of my teeth (I only lost six!) I was very nervous and anxious. My sister came with me to hold my hand and support me through it and it went very well, after it was all finished and I saw myself in the mirror it made me cry. All of my worst fears were for not and I am SO happy with the results.
Thank you Dr. Daby and all the staff at Smiles on Sandy I am grinning from ear to ear again!

My family has been using this office for 10 years. Yesterday I had the work done to put a crown on one of my back teeth. The whole process was pleasant as usual. Mary helped me make a quick switch of my appointment time because of my scheduling needs. Janine, very upbeat and positive, noticed I was chilly during the procedure and produced a lavender filled pillow and blanket, WARMED, to make me more comfortable. Dr. Daby made sure I understood the process and I was never in any pain. He is personable and professional. I left honestly feeling grateful to have been in such good hands at Smiles on Sandy.

Our family has been seeing Dr Daby and the awesome ladies at Smiles on Sandy for several years. Dr Daby is great with kids (and my husband who is afraid of the dentist.) He is calm and relaxed. He seems to truly care about the comfort of his patients. Our daughter had 2 cavities filled last summer. Dr. Daby and Cameo took such good care of her I don’t think she would mind having another cavity. She has no idea that anyone would be afraid of the dentist since she has never had a reason to be. Dr. Daby takes time to listen to and answer my endless questions about my kiddo’s baby teeth and works hard to get my husband the dental work he needs but is nervous about. The hygienists are fantastic. My daughter is in love with Jeri. She makes visiting the dentist a treat! She also knows how to really talk to kids. We love the receptionist too. She remembers us every time we visit and always says something sweet about our kids. We have an easy time scheduling appointments and getting questions answered. We highly recommend Smiles on Sandy!
