Skewed Concoctions

Katay’s concoctions are simply to die for. Skewed is one of my favorite lunch spots in all of downtown Portland. From the perfectly seasoned meat, to the unique slaw, to the ability to PHONE IN OR TEXT your order ahead of time (a serious time-​saver during Portland’s busy lunch cart hour) this place has it all. The proprietor is always friendly, seems to somehow always be in a great mood (even when she’s busy), and simply makes my lunch experience as close to perfect as possible every time. When people ask me where to go for lunch within a couple blocks of the river, I send ‘em to Skewed.
Personal favorite: Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken, off-​skewer, with egg-​rolls and orange chili sweet and sour sauce on the side.

The lady who worked here was very nice and the meal I had was really delicious. I forgot what my meals name was but it was broccoli, chicken and carrots over rice covered in peanut sauce. it was yummy and satisfying

Awesome, awesome food. I ordered the Tofu and Pineapple fried rice. She made it Vegan for me (took out the fish oil) I have been talking about this dish almost non stop! I will absolutely be back! She was so nice to me, had a great chat, cute too!

Located on SW 3^rd, between Stark and Washington. The cart operators were Asian Americans who were friendly, cordial and friendly in helping me decided what I should order. I’m glad I chose the right ones because I’ll becoming here more often during lunch break! xD

This is one of my favorite lunch spots. My favorites are the chicken noodle soup (it’s completely unlike the American variety), and the Hawaiian bento (pineapple and pork: yum!).

I got the special: Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken over rice.
The chicken was a little dry and the mild spice had a strange flavor.
Don’t get me wrong… it wasn’t terrible, but I’ve definitely had better.
I’m sure I could put my $ 5 to better use next time I visit the carts for lunch.

Pineapple skewer and turkey cranberry chipotle was grilled right for my liking, and it was tender. Solo skews $ 2ea, and reasonably sized. They’re a good value.

Chicken Satay is the best around! Friendly, good prices & hours and yummy yummy food!

This cart is on SW 3^rd, between Stark and Washington. As one would imagine, the cart operators serve up various meats on skewers.
I bypassed the sides, opting for two of the cranberry chipotle glazed turkey skewers ($ 2 per skewer). The meats were grilled up to order, with the cranberry chipotle glaze on top, then wrapped in foil. This was some of the moistest turkey I’ve ever had. Extremely juicy here. Unfortunately, the meat lacked sufficient seasoning, putting a significant damper on the experience. The cranberry chipotle «glaze» this time around did not possess any concentrated flavor or sticky, molasses-​like traits. Instead, a runny, mostly bland sauce showed up at the party. While I detected faint tones of fruity cranberry, the chipotle must have hitchhiked out of Portland and into Washington state.
As a note, the combo meals are around $ 7 to $ 8. Two meat skewers, rice, salad, and choice of egg roll. or wonton (pork or veggie option). They also have Pad Thai (meat is $ 7 and vegetarian is $ 6) and Papaya Salad ($ 5). I’ll consider giving them another go.
