Bertha has made all of the costumes for my band! I really don’t think we’d be as successful without her fierce custom designed looks that match the sound of the music perfectly. I constantly get complements on my custom singlets, hot shorts, and majestic patch work lace cape. She is so easy to work with, completes projects on schedule, and magically gets my vision. I would recommend anyone looking for unique plus size clothing to get something from Size Queen. You will feel sexy, fun, and empowered!

Bertha has made me some fabulous custom pieces over the years such as one of a kind swimsuits, short shorts and the like. However this year was the first she has ever made me more «regular» (is there such a thing with Bertha?) custom clothes. I am so used to trying to make clothes work for my body and squeeze into this-​or-​that and it often leaves me disappointed and uncomfortable and well, without anything good to wear. Yesterday was the first time I have ever put on clothes that fit me perfectly. They looked amazing AND they were comfortable. One shirt she made me was just slightly off and before I could even say it she could tell in my body language and was like «what if we do xyz» and bam, just like that it was perfect with a two second alteration. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF.
My only challenge has been trying to open my mind and think about the clothes that I want because the options are endless and I am only used to one option that only maybe-​sorta-​works. She will make you feel comfortable in whatever your gender is and with everyBODY.
Bertha is amazing and I feel so grateful to have her here in PDX making me and so many others such treasures. I am over buying clothes that make my body have to work for them — I would so much rather save my pennies and support Bertha who makes me feel so good in my body and makes me the custom clothes of my dreams (for what I feel is an amazing price for what you’re getting.)

Bertha is ABSOLUTELY just the VERY BEST! Where do I start? She has custom made me clothes over the years. Clothes that fit me and are the length that I want and need. Clothes that I have not been able to find in any store or online. She is a very colorful woman and this shows in her taste in clothes that are for sale in her shop, but, she will make you basic stuff like black pants, shorts, or tops if that is what you want. AND they fit perfectly. She is very reasonable in her prices too.
Today I picked up a few more tops and also some clothes for my big boy =) To have him burst into tears as we left her shop says so much. He was always so frustrated (as we fatties all are) in going shopping and either the clothes do not fit at all or we just buy them anyway and make do… you know what I mean! So today he got clothes that fit and are stylish too. That was a precious moment!

I sing in the band Kittenhead and Bertha does custom fabulous pieces for me that I could never find anywhere! I think all people are frustrated trying to find clothes that fit off the rack but when you are on stage you really need to feel fabulous and comfortable. Bertha make this possible and she is just so creative and helpful!

I haven’t visited the shop, but I’ve seen many of Bertha’s gorgeous, fun creations over the years on people of many sizes, shapes, ages, and identities. She is a bodhisattva of body love and works tirelessly for her communities. I commissioned an item from her, found her a joy to work with, and love what she made for me.

I love the exuberance and excitement of Bertha Pearl’s designs– Size Queen Clothing makes beautiful, custom, *wearable art*. Walking into the studio I literally gasped out loud; the profusion of clothes that I could actually fit into and the wealth of color, texture, sparkle made my heart sing. When you arrive, you are welcomed by Bertha into her beautiful space which is full of magic — sparkles, glitter, gold and rainbows. Do you want gold hot pants that fit your big booty? She’s got them! Do you want a vintage-​style, striped bathing costume that looks like you stepped out of the 1930’s and fits your 6’9″, 400 lb. frame? She’s got one! I really can’t say enough how magical this place is. All your fantasy clothing is here and if it’s not, Bertha can make it for you. Go there as soon as possible, because it WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Bertha Pearl spews out these crazy designs and truly original creations, from eclectic vintage fabrics to silky soft bamboo. Skirts, dresses, boxers, robes, bloomers, whimsical aprons… you just have to check it out. She also does custom work, and I’ve seen her do everything from bear costumes to wedding dresses.
