Shoe Repair

I’m of the camp that one should invest in quality leather shoes then have them repaired, when needed. I took 4 pair of boots to the cobbler I’ve driven past for the past year and I couldn’t be happier my spiffed up boots (resoled, polished and shined, seams repaired). I was so impressed with my all around experience at Shoe House. I showed the gentleman what work needed to be done, he punched it in his trusty calculator and we agreed on the cost before I left the shop (about haft the price that I’m accustomed to paying).The owner apologizes that he has limited English language ability, however managed we to complete our transaction without any problems. Excellent customer service, workmanship and the most affordable shoe repair I’ve found in the Portland metro area. He also cuts keys for just $ 2.50! Cash only.

I had pretty much given up on trying to find a shoe repair shop in Portland, but then Zakii from Amenity Shoes told me about the Shoe Doctor! Zakii is from Morocco, and he knows shoes. In Europe, and other countries, shoe repair is an essential part of life, and you can have your shoes for 10 – 15 years. Here, not so much. So, I gathered up my favorite shoes, which were quite trashed by this time, with their heels worn down below the leather, and made the trek from North Portland out to SE 136^th Ave. The Shoe Doctor speaks only Russian, but we had no trouble communicating whatsoever, and he told me to come back in 3 days. When I came to pick up the shoes, Tanya was there, and it turns out she speaks English so we had a good chat while I was marveling over the restored sandals and boots. I can’t believe the quality and craftsmanship of this repair shop– + reasonable prices and super friendly –I immediately brought in another pair of beloved boots, and 2 days later Tanya called to say they were ready early! When does this ever happen? Be sure to check out other things in the shop, like homeopathic remedies, soaps, cleaning products, and a line of new Klogs. All I can say is– the world is a better place because of The Shoe Doctor!
