Ship’s Mechanical Services

I haven’t been there for a few years, because I sold my old Range Rover, but if you have an older Land Rover vehicle, be sure to swing by Ship’s. Doug and his crew are Land Rover aficionados — they know their stuff, they do great work, they’re reasonably quick and very reasonably priced. You just *know* they know they’re doing when talking with them. I started going to Ship’s based on a recommendation from another old Land Rover enthusiast. At the time, I had an estimate from the LR dealer for a needed (costly) repair. Doug charged about half the cost for parts and labor, although unlike the LR dealer, Doug and team did not great me in spotless lab coats in a spotless workshop… but I can live with that. The auto sales/​parts/​repair world is full of shady characters… but Doug is one of those gems that earns your trust by sharing his knowledge and doing great work, without costing you a mortgage payment. I’m shopping for another Rover, and as soon as I get it, I’ll go out of my way (way way across town) to have Doug and his team at Ship’s Mechanical do any needed work on it.
