Save On Tires

I’ve been going to Save On Tires for about 6 years for tires and service. Joe has been nothing but honest and fair the entire time and always willing to make room for me when I need quick service. I would say that the one bad review Joe has is absolutely false. I recommend these guys to anyone, it’s tough being a small business and they do a great job. My truck runs like a top thanks to Joe. Thanks again

7:30 Friday morning, on a cold wet day. I was off to work and dropping my kids off at school. All of a sudden in the middle of a two lane intersection my truck decides to die. I manage to get it off the road and up to the nearest repair shop. 8:00 they open and I inform them of my problem. They offer to fix it and inform me of my price, which as a single dad during the holidays is not the news I needed to hear. I walk outside and call my favorite shop/​mechanic. Joe and Rick at Sav on tires. They understood my situation and came through just like they have before. Being that my truck was dead and I had no way to tow it, Joe informed me that he would take care of it and get me a much better price. In less than two hours, they sent there mechanic out to my truck and fixed it on the side of the road. This kind of honest and loyal service did not exist at the unnamed shop on boones ferry road in Lake Oswego. But at Sav on tires in Tigard its the only way that Joe and Rick and all there staff do business. I can’t thank you enough and want to commend you all on your outstanding efforts. This people did it again for us! We’ve been going to Save on Tires for many years and every time we have problem on any of our cars our friends try to advertise the shops they go to claiming we can save money, but every single time the result is the same. Not only Save on Tires beats them on pricing, they also do the best job and give you the best product. Joe and his crew are very reliable and knowledgeable, and we thank them to be the local business we can always trust!

Horrible customer service! The owner Joe is absolutely a liar! Just a talker to get you to bring your car in and then they do not even do the work talked about. Make sure when they are changing parts for your car they are new and not used. Joe totally lied about the work done and parts used. DO NOT TRUST HIM!

These guys are the absolute best! Rick and Joe and the entire team are the most accommodating and compassionate when it come is to their service. I don’t trust anyone else with my car except them. They are honest and hard working and full of so much knowledge. Love love them!

Went there a while ago and had no issues with having tires stretched and the guy charged me hardly anything but I think it must be under new management now… Prices seemed a little higher and I got an ear full when I wanted stretch.
Still a good place to go (better than schuab) but bring the wheels in OFF the car if you want them stretched.

Rick and Joe have always been great to me and my old 97’Acura. From going the extra mile and getting my car through DEQ, fixing stereo codes to finding great tires for a very fair price. I’ve run my car into the ground but these guys can fix anything and for a really fair, honest and reasonable price. They are my go-​to for everything because I know they don’t gouge like other mechanics and tire shops. Service, cost, speed, no over selling, they cover it all when it comes to being treated the way you deserve. Highly recommended!

I would recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. Joe & Rick were super friendly, honest, and SO helpful!
The office is clean and comfortable, and Joe even gave my daughter some snacks & water. They didn’t try to upsell me, or take advantage of the situation, which unfortunately happens with many mechanic shops, giving the whole industry a bad name. These guys truly have character and integrity because I believe they want lifetime customers.
I am also so glad this is a full-​service shop because I will definitely be returning for maintenance. Joe mentioned about working on Porches and Audi’s for several years — so it’s extra assurance for me to have him working on my euro!
I don’t think you could be in better hands when it comes to taking care of your car.

Joe did all he could to remediate what had happened and cares about keeping a clean record. I guess we are all human and allowed to make mistakes.

I would recommend this place to anyone! They know what they are doing, don’t try to scam you, and are very friendly! Absolutely quality service at great prices! The mechanics here work very hard and get the job done right, THE FIRST TIME! I’ve been to shops where they tell you one thing is wrong, way over charge you to fix that, then your initial problem is still happening! You go back in and either this happens three or more times again till the problem is fixed or they just end up screwing your car completely and it never gets fixed! NOT HERE! If you want trustworthy, reliable, amazing service at a great price GO HERE!

This is a great place. All the guys are genuinely kind and understanding. They actually seem to enjoy their work! I have trusted them and they have never let me down. Highly recommend for auto fixes and tires.

Absolutely the BEST place you could go to fix your car. We had an ac that nobody had been able to fix all summer. We had at least 10 different places look at it and try to fix it and paid tons of money. Then, we blew a gasket in our 94 landcruiser and just happened to meet the owner right before it blew. So we thought we would give him a try. They went above and beyond in fixing what we thought would just be the gasket. They fixed the mission impossible AC as well as other things going wrong and was reasonablly priced. Took one week and they lent a loaner car. When picked it up drove better than ever. They detailed the truck and it was pristine clean — inside, outside and under the hood. Nice touch. The michanic is a genius at finding those problems no one else can figure out. And Joe, is one of those very special people and gave us outstanding customer service.

I always go to America’s Tire for tires… But my whole family and I go here for everything else that has to do with cars. Always the best prices and quality work. I believe the owner and main mechanic is certified to the highest level of mechanic certification or something of the like and is the only one in Oregon who is? Something along those lines. Either way, they will beat any other car shops prices and are the only mechanic my whole family has ever trusted. We may spend too much money here but with 5 cars they know us by name.

They try… but give up way too easily.
NO PARKING, NO STOPPING without blocking someone. Lot is full of cars and trucks that never move so there is NO ROOM to pull in to get an estimate.
Luckily I had no emergency, but it took several trips to get everything right… almost.
And there is a McMenamins within walking distance. It’s likely you’ll need it.

These guys are great. I can’t give them 5 stars only because I didn’t end up getting my car repaired by them. Here is the shortened story…
I went in on Friday after work to see if they could tell me what was wrong with my 2000 Ford Focus Wagon and what the engine light was on for. They did that and more. I was mainly working with Rick, he explained what the repairs were going to be and how much things were going to cost.
I not only needed my motor mounts replaced but also my catalytic converter. There was a leak with my coolant that we didn’t have time to find. We mostly focused on the larger repairs since they were helping me determine if I even wanted to keep the car.
The repairs with labor and parts with all new Ford parts was going to cost me over $ 2k but the guys at the shop were all very understanding with my financial situation. They suggested I get quotes at other shops and that they would call me the next day after they spent some time finding a cheaper catalytic converter.
They kept their word and the very next day they were able to call me and everything total was going to be around $ 900-​something, forgot the exact number, with all the labor and parts.
Unfortunately that morning when I was headed to the auto store to get new windshield wipers, my car started making shrill noises with some other indescribable noises. Not wanting to risk being stuck on the side of the road and having to call a tow truck I was forced to scramble to find a mechanic in my area.
I would have gone to get my car fixed up here if my car wasn’t in danger of breaking down while heading down there. Rick understood my situation when I explained to him what was going on.
Thank you everyone here, you guys are wonderful! I have no doubt in my mind all the repairs done by you guys was going to be top notch. I was treated well, both in person and on the phone, I wasn’t talked down to and I actually left there with a smile on my face.

Needed new winter tires and winter rims for my Prius. I usually go to Schwab but there’s always a long wait which I’m tired of, and I read here that Save-​On will take appointments. Also Joe @ Save-​On quoted a better price for winter tires than Schwab, so I went for set of Continental Winter Extremes on new steel wheels. Even so I grumbled a bit about cheaper prices I saw on the internet and Joe said yeah but that’s minus shipping, etc. but he’d throw in an alighment so I said what the heck.
When I got there they had the tires already on the rims ready to go. They found that the lug nuts from my alloy wheels wouldn’t work with the steel rims, so they put on new lug nuts (20) for no extra charge, and threw in the alignment as promised.
Upshot is they bent over backwards and gave great service. They’ll also do swaps for free for the life of the tires. I even got an interesting story about how a dragonfly wing in the oxygen sensor rendered Rick’s Prius non-​operational.

I own/​operate the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine and was in dire need of a great mechanic. A very good friend of mine recommended this place both for their expertise and value.
I called this morning to check availability and spoke with the owner, Joe, for a few minutes about what I needed. At the end of our conversation, I had an appointment for 1:00 PM today for a tune-​up and 4 new tires.
I arrived early and by the time my appointment time came around, I heard them fire up the van and bring it into the garage. A few hours later, my van emerged with 4 great tires and a well tuned motor. I was very happy … until I received the bill. My expectations weren’t the same as theirs. I was quoted for the tires directly from Joe, however the mechanic never asked me if I needed/​wanted any extras on the tune-​up.
Long story short, Joe and I worked things out, the mechanic received some feedback on his communication skills, and I now have a new go-​to guy for the van!
Joe and his staff are true professionals deserving of your business.

I was hundreds of miles from home, stranded on the 5 with a flat tire… on Christmas Eve of all days. After AAA fixed me up (HUGE thanks to them for fast response), I found Save On Tires just 10 minutes down the road.
Joe and his team were literally the most honest, down-​to-​earth group of auto repair guys I’ve ever met. They sold me a lightly-​used tire and gave me a rotation for a grand total of $ 60. Not once did they try to upsell me anything. I wanted to buy them all a round of beers afterward!

I recently needed new tires on a couple vehicles (my own and my mother’s). SaveOnTires is a little tire/​alignment shop around the corner from our neighborhood.
I had noticed that they are always busy there, which is a good sign for a business. I also noticed that they have an email contact address.
With a busy schedule, it’s hard for me to get the time to make phone calls and check around for pricing on tires, and much easier for me to just drop them a note with all the details and then give them the time to get back to me on inventory, pricing, labor, etc.
I had already priced out new tires for both vehicles at Discount Tire (a place I have gone in the past), Costco (I’ve bought tires from there, too), and Les Schwab (the big local chain). I had seen good reviews for SaveOnTires on the web, so I thought I would see what kind of response I got in requesting a quote. A day or so later I got a reply from Jonathan at SaveOnTires. He gave me quotes on two different tire manufactures for the vehicles, and the prices were exceptional! The quote included disposal of our old tires, new valve stems, mounting, and balancing… None of this «here’s the price of the tires, but then there’s an additional disposal fee, plus mounting fee, plus valve stem fee, plus, plus, plus…» …kind of stuff, just straightforward quotes of how much it is for new tires. Period! I like that.
So, I got tires on both vehicles. Nexens on one and Duros on the other. These aren’t «big» names in tires like Michelin and Goodyear or Toyo, but if you do your homework, you’ll see these are very good quality tires. Nexen has a great line of performance tires, and Duro has been making tires for decades (mainly off-​road and motorcycle tires, but many passenger vehicle tires, too). Another important thing I look for is that I don’t get old tires, and I mean that literally. At many of the large chains, they buy and inventory their tires in volume, so they may have tires in inventory for months… even years. Tires tend to dry out over the years, and you don’t want to be buying ‘new’ tires that have already been sitting around for a year or two. On both occasions at SaveOnTires, our tires were brand new… that strong smell of ‘new tire’ and in checking the manufacture codes, they were all made this year. They were fresh tires.
After agreeing to different dates and times of when I was to get the tires installed, each time I showed up with the different vehicles, Jonathan was there with the tires all pulled down and ready to install them. He answered any questions I had, showed me the tires before install, and had the new tires installed and me on my way in no time! It was a smooth experience, and their being willing to coordinate the time/​information over email made life easy for me!
All in all, SaveOnTires gets 5 stars from me. They’ve got a clean shop, honest/​courteous staff, upfront pricing, ‘fresh’ tires, and their pricing can’t be beat. The most amazing thing is that with both new sets of tires, each vehicle drove notably smoother, quieter, and more sure-​footed. I don’t know if that is just an artifact of getting new tires, but they drove better than the last time I remember putting tires on them. The Nexen tires replaced some high-​priced Falkens on our CUV, and the Nexens drive significantly better… more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better.
I’ll definitely be coming back to SaveOnTires for all our tire related needs, and recommend them to my friends and coworkers!
