The sushi here is beautiful and delicious. The service was excellent as well. Décor was really cool, like make you feel smart kinda cool. The thing is, its soo nice that I wouldn’t bring any young children in, doesn’t seem child friendly if your children are loud, active or throwers! I didn’t like the prices or that it took a really long time for our food even though the restaurant was nearly empty…

Great vegetarian rolls! This place has a lot to offer and is more affordable than a lot of other sushi restaurants in the Portland area. Super good!

Eureka ! No not the Vacuum or the City but like EUREKA !!! The Greek word kinda of thingy. That’s what went through my mind when I started to dig into the creative food here. My sushi bar is pretty high and this place delivered big time. I’m usually not a fan of «designer sushi» for the most part, and have found it difficult to buy in, until now. I was getting my hair cut across the street and I’m like, I need to eat a little healthier due to my pizza fascination the previous week (see reviews) so, I am like sushi ! it’s healthy. My Eureka Experience; * Mango Tango Roll, and like the tango it’s complex and seductive. It consists of blue crab(what real crab), avocado, tempura shrimp, mango, balsamic reduction and coconut flakes. with one drop of hot sauce on top. The combination of the sweet from the mango and the richness from the crab with a hit of heat at the end. So so good. It would probably taste better when mango’s are in their peak, but it’s still good. * Chance Of Rain, salmon, cream cheese, avocado, sundried tomato, basil, balsamic teriyaki sauce on the bottom of the plate. This was like if a philly roll and a Italian pasta dish had a baby. it works, I don’t fully understand why but it does. kudos to the sushi chef. Service was great ! she was personable, funny, helpful, engaged and pleasant. All and All, I really loved this place and I know you will as well.

We came in with no expectations and found this place to be delightful! The service, good and not too solicitous. The food was the best part, though. It was a revelation! We had the ramen. so amazing! The two rolls we had were great too. It was a party in my mouth. Yup.

The happy hour is great. Chavellie was great food was fast and everything went smoothly. Saki was the proper temp and the brothless Ramen was supurb. I will be coming back here often. Best broth for miso I have had in a minute and the sushi was soft and of unique fishy weirdness including the salmon that’s hard to achive.

I came in for ramen which looked amazing from previous photos but they changed their menu and don’t have it anymore. They were on happy hour so I got some snacks to tide me over to continue my ramen search but the portions were much larger and better tasting than I expected. My server, Chavellie(coolest name ever), was super sweet and really genuine. Only negative is that I wish they had ramen on their menu, at least for winter. They had a brothless ramen that sounded great but it’s freezing out, I need broth!

I went here for happy hour and had the nigiri sampler & a Cali roll. I suspect that they serve their older fish for happy hour, but that is still not acceptable. When the sushi arrived at the table, it was visibly wilted and dry. Every piece of nigiri was tough, chewy and tasted fishy. The quality of the rice was bad as well. The roll was bland and tasted old too. Couldn’t finish any of it. This was bare minimum sushi that I would expect to find at a grocery store. I’ve had much better & fresher sushi at conveyor belt and chain joints. I really don’t like giving bad reviews like this, but my experience was exceptionally bad.

Worst service I’ve ever had. ***CELIACSBEWARE*** The server who took my order made a mistake in putting in the order. Understandable, as it was her first day on the job. It would have been totally forgivable if she had just come back to the table and apologized. Instead, the manager/lead server came over to lecture me about how to order properly(even though it wasn’t my mistake). She never apologized either, but instead told me that I should probably go to the hospital if I was really allergic to gluten because the first roll we had already eaten was not made gluten-free as ordered. Clearly, she was ignorant of gluten allergies. I don’t know how one becomes a manager of a restaurant that clearly states right on the menu what is gluten free, what can be modified to be gluten free, and what can’t, without knowing what a gluten allergy is. The chef did try to offer a special dessert as a gesture, but at that point what we wanted to do was leave, not stick around for dessert. My date kindly offered to eat it so I wouldn’t have to. I spent the next two days in bed thanks to this experience. I won’t be back, and I strongly caution others with a gluten allergy to avoid this place. Clearly, the staff is ignorant and careless which will not make for a pleasant dining experience.

Found this cute place with great sushi. A quite little place for lunch. The service is great and the fish is fresh. They even have a lunch special menu at reasonable prices. I asked for hot tea and they recommended their Yuzu Basil hot tea. It was wonderful and better than green tea! Even their water is flavored with cucumbers I believe, a nice touch. Glad I found this little gem. Looks like great prices for happy hour too.

Real review, real displeased. The greeting was dull as dishwater. Our order was incorrect, we accepted anyway, but no apologies and charged the more expensive dish? Twice we had to get up and ask the kitchen for more drink and ginger. Sashimi standard if you like Mio. Tipped the minimum respect to the Stassi wannabe :(

I’ve been back at least twenty times since my first review, and it’s become one of my favorite places in town. Now that I’ve explored the menu a bit more, I would highly recommend the following: Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, the Hot Eggplant dish(it’s miso cooked eggplant topped with an egg), and the Hot Night roll. They just started doing a maki roll lunch special as well, with several rolls included. The staff is always extremely friendly as well.

Went here a few nights ago and was very happy to have stopped in. I had a craving for sushi and ordered the ahi poke, geisha roll, and fire in the hole. All three were very good. The fish tasted absolutely so fresh. Definitely worth the prices to get fresh fish. The ahi poke tasted super authentic too(I buy this all the time in Hawaii, it costs less there but it tasted right here!) The staff was friendly, definitely looking forward to coming back here again.

I dropped in for some sushi and drinks tonight and the experience was decidedly mixed. I tried a couple of orders from the nigiri menu(which seemed a bit limited… missing some of my normal faves like squid, surf clam, octopus) and a few rolls… all were fine, and the kraken roll in particular was a highlight in flavor, texture and presentation. The selection of sake was also quite good, and I happily settled on Demon Slayer. Also impressed that they make their own soy sauce. The service was inconsistent and the sushi seemed to take a lonnnnnggggg time to prepare, even on a pretty slow night. The two servers were very nice but not on the same page a few times… one would take an order and a minute later the other would bring a check and say«whenever you’re ready.» Other times they both vanished for pretty long stretches. The space is large and open with contemporary design and décor, but you may want to choose your table carefully if you’re there as the sun is going down… it reflects off the windows across the street right into a portion of the restaurant. I felt like an ant under a magnifying glass for about 15 searing minutes. Also, the tables and seats are kinda sticky, as if they were recently varnished. Weird and distracting and a little yucky.

Service is great. Food is awesome. Fast service. We ordered almost everything tuna. Ahi poke, hot night, fire in a hole, and rice crispy tuna. The ahi poke w mango was delish. The hot night w tempura flakes was my favorite. The ageishi tofu was also delicious.

Small and interesting Japanese sushi place in the middle of the Mississippi District. We liked the vibe and loved the waitress(very stylish and sweet girl). However, I didn’t like their ramen one bit. It was a coconut-miso based ramen, I wanted to try it out, because it was unique. I shouldn’t have. It tasted like salty, coconut milk from the cans soup! I think I prefer the normal shoyu, miso, shio, and tonkotsu better. Their sushi were good though. Fresh. A bit on the pricer side tho.

I’ve been here a few times and it didn’t blow my mind but it’s quite delicious. The only thing i haven’t enjoyed here is the Brussels sprouts. Other than that everything is quite yummy. For the Brussels sprouts if it was more like the delicious ones at Saucebox, I’d order that again. I think the sprouts here are too soggy and the bacon as well. I really loved the wakame salad. So simple but so fresh and refreshing. We ordered it at the beginning and we ordered another one at the end as well. We also ordered the white fish, salmon sashimi, tuna over sushi crispy deep fried rice, shrimp tempura tiger sushi and all of that was super divine. We will def be back! Service was quick and friendly. Now we’ve been here multiple times as it’s the bf’s fave sushi place now. I’ve been really loving the panko shrimp bowl. it’s soooo cheap and has so much packed goodness into that bowl. rice, spicy sauce, panko shrimp, avocados, tomatoes, corn, shiitake mushrooms, cucumbers, seaweed salad, etc. It is delicious if you aren’t feeling like sushi or want something in addition. I really enjoy this place. Our server is always extremely nice and friendly. She’s the tiny tiny skinny lady with brown hair and she’s soooo sweet everytime we go.

I love discovering new found treasures and delicious secrets. There is no way I could ever forget this place– it’s that good. Freely I admit, I don’t frequent North Portland or north east Portland as much as I should. There is so much I am missing out because I just don’t make it over to that area of the city. The area of N Mississippi Ave is eclectic, fun, diverse, and full of some of the most interesting people and shops that I’ve ever encountered in my 51 years of walking on this earth. We made an early reservation because we didn’t know if it was going to be SRO most places in Portland on Saturday night. We ordered cocktails and saki to begin the night along with their Salmon flight and Wakame salad(seaweed salad) — they did not disappoint. Being in the mood to try everything and be adventurous we ordered a bunch of stuff to share with the table and ate family-style: Miso, parmesan cheese, eggplant topped with a over easy fried egg. Yes I said and over easy fried egg. Brussels sprouts roasted with bacon, soffrrito and samba chili. Oooh la la. Yuzu Jack — sashimi style jack fish, Serrano pepper and yuzu ponzu — oh Yum. Ahi Poke — One of my newly found discoveries that I’m addicted to. And this he was just fresh fresh fresh and the spices were combined perfectly and it was just fantastic. Okay — so the next thing we ordered is what I shall forever refer to as «sushi crack». And on the menu it’s known as «spicy tuna crispy rice» what it is — Square rice cubes that are deep fried and served with mashed up tuna, scallions, and soy sauce — they make their’s with Serrano pepper, yuzu butter and a dab of spicy mayo mixed in with the tuna on top of the crispy rice. So you get this lovely crispy crunch along with this amazing spicy tuna and when it enters your mouth it explodes into this lovely incredible rainbow of deliciousness I’ve never tasted before! I could eat an entire meal of just this dish it’s that good. There are a few other things on the menu we tried — but I’m having a senior moment and the names of escapes me, or it’s the saki — I don’t know which. But all I know is that it was all amazing. Because I was a little on the skeptical side about trying new things I ordered my tried-and-true stuff which is tempura and shrimp. Of course it was good — but I have to admit it was pretty damn bland compared to all the other deliciousness I tasted above. The only reason this place doesn’t get five stars — and I know it’s going to be petty but it’s the damn water. The city of Portland’s water absolutely sucks. It tastes heavy and there’s a strong chlorine taste that is just gross. I would think that a restaurant that serves such amazing food especially food with a delicate flavor like sushi would invest the money and having some sort of filtration system that would make the water palatable. I’m not against buying bottled water in a restaurant — but I always try out the table water first. So I bought a bottle of Perrier and had that with dinner. This place rates right up there I think with some of the other sushi hotspots in Portland. You haven’t check them out.
