Colored my hair for the very first time about two or three months ago. Literally had no idea what to ask for but went in asking for something subtle yet noticeable. Ali was ON POINT. I wake up everyday and I lovvveeee my hair! I’m a really picky person so for her to absolutely nail it definitely shows how talented she is. If you are new to color definitely go to Ali!

It’s really hard to find a good stylist who listens to you, doesn’t over charge and knows what they’re doing. I’ve lived in Portland for 3 years now and had not found a good one until now. I just started going to Salon Ninety Nine after I asked a friend of mine (who has gorgous hair by the way) where she went.
I have had my hair cut and colored twice by Summer and I love this place! Let me tell you, I have found my salon and stylist, no reason to go anywhere esle! I’ve been coloring my hair since I was in high school… a very long time ago … and I’ve never recieved so many compliments on my hair! I LOVE the color and the cut. Summer is great. She’s so sweet and personable. In fact, the last time I went I was 30 minutes late and stressing out big time… She was just patiently waiting for me WITH a glass of wine waiting when I got there! How great is that?
This is a ‘classic’ salon, not a «Portland froofroo» place that only uses organic seaweed whatever BS is popular and upsells you on crap you don’t need. They love product, big hair and know how to treat their clients right. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed too, not upity at all. (If you want an upity salon, go to the Pearl)
If you are looking for a great stylist, Summer is awesome and so is Salon NinetyNine.

I have crazy curly, thick long hair and she tames it like no other. I leave with the perfect layers, highlights, and style every time.
She’s beautiful, funny, great conversationalist, and delivers beyond her customers’ expectations. I live on the west side of town and drive to this salon just for her every other month because I love how she makes my hair look. She’s attentive, she listens, and she never lets a client leave unhappy.
I get so many compliments on my hair and I tell EVERYONE about her!
The salon in general is super clean, all the staff is professional and friendly, they offer drinks while you’re there, and they really care about your experience in their salon.

Went on the recommendation of a friend, and never again. The owner, Summer, promised me she knew exactly what I wanted because she «had been a blonde before» too. I have a blonde color weave, and all I wanted was for a touch up. She turned my hair green/​gray, because she used a toner incorrectly. I told her I didn’t like it, and I has specifically asked not to have the ash blonde, I wanted a honey blonde (I even showed her pictures). She offered to fix it and I went back the next day. She slapped the color on so fast, that some of it got on my face, and the second time my roots came out neon yellow. I have been getting my hair dyed for 10 years and never had such a bad job done. She clearly knew she had messed it up because, she gave me free product, and a used brush. She also was answering her phone well she was doing my hair. I will never ever go back. Also, they need to clean around the floors and trim of the salon too. There was hair that had been there for a while. They need to worry less about offering their clients free booze, and more about the quality of the job. On a positive, the friend that recommend has Burnett hair and really only gets cuts, so if you want a cut I would say go ahead. Oh, and it was $ 140 bucks, and I had to go get it fixed at a different salon 2 weeks later.

I have been a client of Summers (co owner) for about 3 or 4 years, I can’t remember. I started with her when she was at the old salon, and now have followed her here. As a Salon as a whole, the place is great! The location is good, the place is very cute, and all of the girls there are sweet and professional.
Summer is the only hairdresser I have stuck with for more than a year because she really knows what she is doing. She recommends great products for my hair type, and let’s me do whatever I want to my hair, but also know what looks good. She does a great job, and highly recommend this salon!
