Business Owner

Rose City Moving & Storage has been locally owned and operated since 1979. The same owners that started the business come to work here every day to insure that the high standards our customers have come to expect are not just met, but exceeded.

Jason K. has been around the moving industry for nearly his entire life. When Jason started at Rose City minimum wage was $ 3.35 an hour. Jason started at Rose City as a teenager sweeping the warehouse and helping with equipment upkeep. Over the years Jason moved into the field, then to sales and management. Jason is now a principal at Rose City and works every day to carry on the good name and great reputation that Rose City Moving & Storage has earned.

Very professional at all points of the process. And, the movers were very nice, flexible, and respectful. I even was allowed to save money by bringing my own boxes. They really knew how to communicate clearly and follow through with the highest standards.

We downsized from a 3800 sq foot home with MANY stairs & a steeply sloped driveway to a 1500 square foot home on almost 5 acres.
Right from the beginning when I e-​mailed Steve for a quote, the experience couldn’t have been nicer. He came out to the house, bonded with my husband over some shared philosophies about health management & gave us a fair & accurate quote.
On moving day, Curt & his crew of four were right on time. They introduced themselves & got right to work. They protected all of our furniture with padding & shrink wrap and organized everything on the truck according to where it was going to end up at the new place — house or barn. They were extremely friendly, courteous & professional and succeeded in turning what could have been a very stressful day into a pleasant experience. I never thought I’d say that about moving!
After the move, Steve went above & beyond in helping me work out a payment plan after the sale of our house fell through. I can’t express strongly enough how grateful I am for that.
I will recommend Rose City to everyone I ever meet. They are beyond wonderful.

Cannot recommend these guys highly enough! We have used them three times now and have been blown away every time. They are punctual, responsible and respectful and always do their best to make sure we are happy. Most of the crew has been working there for years… I’m guessing such a high retention rate is unique for a moving company. They have moving down to a science. Thank you Stuart! Joe! Robert and Sione! These guys went above and beyond. Literally wouldn’t have been alcohol/​beer service at 2014 MLS All-​Star events without them. On time, courteous, and they went above and beyond the initial job we requested on the fly as issues came up. Couldn’t recommend them more highly. Curt and their drivers were the heroes for us.

Let’s face it, moving sucks.
Since I moved to Portland 13 years ago, my family has undergone about 8 moves.
Don’t even get me started.
This year alone I’ve moved both my parents into care facilities.
Not fun.
We have used a variety of moving companies. Some have rocked it out. Some, well, not so much. (Did I mention that we could be on «Hoarders»? Well, we have stuff, lots of stuff).
This time I had to move stuff to storage, which is one if the reasons I chose Rose City. They offer their own storage, in a warehouse. Simplifies things in what is a complex situation. Also, I have watched them work at my office and know they’re good.
Steve, their point person, was awesome on the phone and he immediately offered to come take a look. This is important. If movers don’t do that you will learn the hard way that they should have. Trust me on this.
(Imagine if you will two tired cranky moving guys and a 600 pound black leather sofa in my dad’s tiny stairwelll… planning ahead could have made that whole thing less disastrous!)
Before he came out, Steve also sussed out my somewhat interesting personal circumstances. I think he did that with tact and humor. I bet they see everything. When he arrived he was right on time, professional, and super nice. He knows what he’s doing and has worked for Rose City for a long time. He helped me decide on three guys, which costs more per hour but goes just better. Good call I think.
On moving day the three gentlemen arrived exactly on time. This is rare. They introduced themselves and got right to work. They protected hardwood floors and shrinkwrapped my used furniture like it was precious. They were speedy and careful. Everything was inventoried to go to their storage. They were done with this leg in less than two hours.
Easiest move out ever.

Rose City did a great job packing and moving me. The thing I was most impressed by is that they initially said 2 partial days because I was living in a 2 bedroom but when I explained that I didn’t have much stuff and was moving to a smaller place, Steve from Rose City was willing to come out and see my place to give a more accurate estimate. No one else I called would do that. Plus, he had a good sense of humor, and everyone involved was prompt, polite, and efficient.
They finished in five hours including setting furniture where I wanted it and unpacking the wardrobes, and they pretty much exactly hit the estimate I was given. They also handled the lack of dedicated parking really well. Nothing got broken or went missing and everything was pretty well labeled so it was easy for me to know what boxes to unpack first. A few things did get left behind but I had to go back and clean up the old place anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal. On the whole really good and I would choose them again!

Rose City Moving moved my law office on July 31, 2012. They did not lose or damage any of our furniture or art work, and were wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend using this company.
