Kevin Martin was an incredible mortgage broker for us — patient, kind, speedy and knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I appreciated how he talked us through the lending process and answered all of our questions thoroughly during an initial phone conversation. We were referred to Kevin by Cheri Harney, our realtor, and found them to be a fantastic team. Kevin worked with us on a tight timeline and through a tricky appraisal, which we greatly appreciated. In addition to working with a wonderful mortgage broker, we were delighted to be able to donate to a charity of our choice through Rose City Mortgage.

Our realtor found James Komro at Rose City after our initial lender (evil big bank) would not finance our condo for a dumb reason (not our fault). We were at wits end, but James had done this deal before for another homeowner in the same complex. He took us on without a hitch. He knew exactly what the issue was and how to handle it. He got the deal done lickety-​split fast, and was always available and helpful to answer our questions, keep up our spirits, and inspire confidence every step of the way. I don’t think we could have found a better broker and we ended up with our condo and a better deal than the evil big bank was offering. Being business owners and self employed, and investors, my husband and I are not the easiest people to get loans for. Kat Dunn is AWESOME! She stayed the course with our complicated case and made it feel easy. We recently closed a «for sale by owner» transaction and If it wasn’t for Kat, it probably wouldn’t have happened. Jake Planton at Rose City Mortgage was incredible. We met him a few days before Christmas in 2013 to discuss our options for our move the following summer. Jake was with us to answer any questions when we signed our paperwork. It shouldn’t be this easy to buy a house, close on it early, and get a massive loan– but it happened!

The world of mortgages and home loans is one that is confusing, frustrating, and often non-​sensical. Don’t try to figure it out for yourself, just get Ericka Heidrick on your team. She made it feel like a piece of cake!
I recently bought my first home, and I couldn’t have done it without Ericka. She was so knowledgable and helpful, and was always willing to explain every little nuance of the process I asked about, and was friendly (and quick to respond!) even under the onslaught of emails I would send her. I knew I could trust Ericka, and that she would ensure every T was crossed and I dotted so that I would end up in my new home.

My fiancé and I just bought our first home and worked with James Komro. As first-​time buyers, we had a TON of questions, and James was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the entire process. Ericka Heidrick was amazing helpful as we went through the long and somewhat eventful process of buying our first home. She was wonderfully helpful and always responded quickly and thoroughly to our questions and concerns. Rose City Mortgage was absolutely fantastic– specifically Kevin Martin, who was our broker from start to finish.
is it weird to say I miss my mortgage broker? because I do. my wife and i really can’t say enough good things about Kevin and i really don’t even know where to begin. here are a few adjectives i’d use to describe him: wonderfully patient, really damn smart, incredibly nice, extremely kind, straightforward and honest.
kevin really knows his stuff– he is definitely a pro in this business. and yet, although we obviously were not, i always felt like we were his only clients every time i called him with a question or concern because he always knew exactly who i was and where we were in the process. that was such a good feeling.
and kevin virtually always answered the phone and if for some reason he couldn’t, he always got right back to me via phone or email. his responsiveness is superb– such a great thing when you’re trying to by a house and you have a question and you’re stressed and you need an answer right away– he was always there [even when driving!].
our particular deal was a bit out of the ordinary, so any time kevin didn’t have an answer for me [which was rare] he’d research the issue at hand and get back to me right away. he also happens to have a really good sense of humor, too, which really helps, given the long, tedious process of buying a house.
this was our first home purchase– my wife and i didn’t know a whole lot about the process. luckily, kevin slowly walked us through it all, multiple times– he is ridiculously patient and kind and he has this calming nature about him that makes him perfectly suited for this job. he was always willing to meet in person, too, which my wife and i did with him multiple times. the fact that he was able to patiently and clearly explain the whole process to her [she was less involved than i] and gain her trust [she was a bit more worried than i] is a true testament to his skill.
not once did we ever get a sketchy vibe from Rose City Mortgage– like i said, they’re very straightforward and very honest. this was such a relief. they even donate a portion of their fee to local charities.
in the end, kevin worked his magic. he was not only right on schedule every step of the way, he actually helped us close two weeks early on our house and, of course, he was present at our closing. he even gave us a gift! i’ve heard and read good things about everybody at RCM, but it’s hard to imagine they come any better than kevin martin.
i chose RCM strictly based on its Unilocal reviews and, from the very first time i spoke with kevin on the phone, i knew we had made the right decision. thanks again for everything, kevin– we miss you!

We were referred to Jacob Planton at Rose City Mortgage from Scott Werner at Bridgetown Realty, and we couldn’t have been happier with Jake.
He has been simply wonderful; and by that I mean that he is the kind of person who genuinely cares and has kept that care for people alive in himself. It shows in every interaction he has had with us over the past 4 years. He is not only kind, calm, approachable, but he is perfectly professional. We know that he is going to be there through every step, and that he is going to keep a sharp eye on the details to ensure it goes as well as it could.
A few years ago, we were sold a home with a fraudulent disclosure and extensive hiding of serious problems. We had used a different mortgage company, now out of business. Without going into too much detail, the home was toxic to health, and virtually unrepairable, and the neighbor/​seller a disaster who a convicted felon alleged had tried to hire him to knock me off the ‘ol mortal coil. It was a saga, and a crucible of pain to be going through after just buying our first home and welcoming our first children into the world.
Through this process, Jake put in extensive hours trying to help us get out of that house and into another, and he didn’t get a penny for it. And now, 4 years later, he is helping us to get the exemption we need after foreclosure, to move into our own new home.
We know there are no guarantees, but we know with 100% confidence he’s going to do his very utmost to see it happen. I know he’s going to bring his best to each part of the process, not just securing the loan, but finding us the best terms, and following through AFTER that when he could move on to secure a new one, ensuring nothing is snuck into the terms, or left out. That kind of thing happens all the time, we know from experience, and you need someone in your corner who not only is at the top of their professions skillset, but has the heart to put it to work to help you.
Look, I am more of a critical reviewer than a gushing one, and this is easily the most gushing review I have ever written. But to me, damn well deserved. It is insufficient to describe the level of professionalism and care Jake Planton has shown us. I give him a 10 out of 10, and by extension Rose City Mortgage. There is a reason they have continued to prosper despite the recession and housing market — their heart is where it should be.

If you are looking to buy a house or refinance do yourself a favor and give Ericka Heidrick at Rose City Mortgage a call. I was completely clueless and pretty uncomfortable with the home buying process when I first came in to see Ericka. She has the gift of being able to explain the painful process of securing financing in a calm, accessable and non-​condescending manner. She is such a pleasure to deal with and a really great person to boot! I had a great experience working with her.
