Specialties
Lurking discreetly in a tall, red (spooky) Victorian-ish house on the *other* 12th Ave. corner half a block past one of those not-actually-Plaid convenience stores, Rimsky’s specializes in a Casually Threatening Atmosphere in which to consume Chocolate Raspberry Fools, Rasputin’s Vices, and Mocha Fudge Cakes. We hope that you leave here feeling a lot more happy and a little more nervous than when you arrived — in a good way, of course. We have live classical music almost every night, so you can have very highbrow conversations while being serenaded by guitar, violin, piano or woodwinds, depending on what night you’re here, but you can also have lowbrow conversations if you think it will sound good with the music. And don’t forget to visit our award-winning restroom –then when people say, «YOU know: I’m talking about… the SECRET», you can nod sagely, and then look around like, «what? stop lookin’ at me!»
History
Established in 1980.
Rimsky’s used to be the home of two sisters who loved to have music parties and piano recitals. When Goody Cable wanted to have music parties of her own, she opened Rimsky Korsakoffeehouse with two friends so that she could entertain every night of the week and not always have to clean up by herself.
Meet the Manager
Erik S.
Manager
Erik S. embodies the spirit of Rimsky’s, and he can be found at Rimsky’s at all hours of the evening, entertaining our guests and smiling vaguely at nothing. He has some peculiar habits, one of which is that he collects umbrellas and cultivates monotony, but he has long since given up on his erstwhile obsession of incessant bathing.
