Meet the Business Owner

Richard B.

Business Owner

Richard Brown has practiced architecture in Oregon and California since 1976. After receiving his Masters in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 he worked in San Francisco for John Boles, FAIA, and for landscape architect Laurence Halprin. He moved to Oregon in 1973 on an invitation from artists Lee & Bonnie Kelly to work and live at their Oregon City studio. It was in this setting that his interests evolved in craft and the integration of art and architecture. Except for a return to Northern California from 1977 – 1982 to design and build a Buddhist Monastery, his focus has been here in Oregon. He opened his office in 1989 after being with ZGF Partnership. Much of his work has been with religious, institutional and residential clients, including;

* Congregation Kol Ami Synagogue, Vancouver WA

* The Museum of Contemporary Craft, Portland OR

* Grand Cru Estates & Solena Winery, Yamhill OR

* Catherine McAuley Chapel, Roseburg OR

* Hampton Lecture Hall, University
