I was impressed with their selection and variety of frames on display.

I had a great visit to this store. It’s great value for money. I love the choice of frames and the staff there was incredibly helpful. I like to get a wide range of opinions to find something new and they really helped me find that. I would recommend stopping in — I even took my mom for new glasses when she was visiting from out of town.

Dr. Goldberg is a total sweetheart! And the guys at the store are great too. My visit was incredibly efficient. The guy that handles appointments had called my insurance in advance, so I didn’t need to bother figuring that out.
The visual exam was very thorough, Dr. Goldberg has such a great personality. I had a ball. Possibly the best eye exam I’ve had in my life, and I’ve been wearing glasses for over 20 years, so that’s saying a lot!

I have waited over a month for a frame repair; someone in this office did not send the needed prescription for repair. I still do not have the glasses!

I went to the discount location in the Hollywood district and when I got my glasses I went to the downtown location to get them fitted, they broke them. It took over two month to get my originals back and since it has taken so long they ordered me a second pair but this process has taken over 4 months now. The worst customer service I have ever received from any business. Every time I call to see the status no body knows. SO FRUSTRATING! I would refer people to a different optical business because of how horrible the customer service is there.

I purchased a $ 400 pair of glasses from them one year ago. At the time, they were all smiles and full of reassurance – «come in any time to have them re-​adjusted!» I finally took them up on their offer yesterday but was met with some serious attitude and incompetence. The salesperson treated me like a nuisance, and on top of that acted like she had never adjusted a pair of glasses in her life. The manager tried to help guide her through the process, but he gave up before they were successfully fitted, and I walked out with no improvement. This is pretty basic stuff, people. Its sad to think I would have received better service having bought a $ 79 pair from lenscrafters.

Came in to have two pairs of glasses adjusted, neither of which were from here originally. Very friendly, very helpful and didn’t charge me to boot!

Ordered my glasses on Monday and on Saturday they called to tell me they were ready. Super quick turn around. Also, cheers to the management for selecting some genuine, helpful employees. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. My whole experience was a great example of quality customer service.

My first time in Oregon included a few days in Portland, with my wife showing me around her previous home city. I’ve always like Mykita frames, but they’re hard to find, so when we saw them in the window at Reynolds, we stopped in. The staff suggested a style different than my usual safe, conventional look but it was a great recommendation. After a night to think it over, we returned and bought the glasses, which Reynolds shipped to our home in Phoenix. The staff was friendly and fun and helpful but not pushy. No better souvenir for our weekend in Portland.

I need glasses and I needed them quick as mine were lost in an auto accident. I got great service and 2 pair of glasses. Both look great.
Everything went as I would expect. I appreciate the fact that they are conveniently located downtown and have a nice selection of glasses.

I didn’t want to shop online because when it comes the face altering decision of glasses I need attentive customer service. It was only by chance that I went to Reynolds but I am so freaking glad I did! No pressure sales people who are always ready for questions AND GIVE HONEST OPINIONS!!! Once I got my glasses, they were carefully adjusted and I was encouraged to come back in if they ever need to be readjusted, which I have now taken them up on that offer three times. Reynolds is exactly what the internet can’t give me: Confidence that if I need anything from readjustment to more polishing rags I can (and do) go into the store and get it for free for the rest of the life of my glasses. And a big shout out to Joel for his great cleaning tips and all around helpfulness, although I have not met anyone who works there that isn’t pretty great.
Yes, they are kind of expensive. But quality glasses are expensive. They change what your face looks like and should last for years; spending a little extra is worth it. And the service I continue to receive from Reynolds makes me know it was worth it

If you are looking for a one liner… DO NOT GO HERE, THE SALESPEOPLE ARE DECEPTIVE AND THE SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS. In retrospect, we should have looked at the reviews before we went…
My fiancée and I went here because they had a good selection of frames. It turned out to be a total mistake. The person who helped us spent 20 minutes extolling the virtues of having nose pads put into a pair of frames that would not have fit my fiancée otherwise, even explaining the method used to grind off the original bridge and replace it with the new adjustable one. We asked for the bridge, paid, and left. Then, when she went to pick up the glasses, she was told that it was going to be an additional $ 60 to have the adjustable bridge placed, and it would take an additional 3 – 4 weeks to have it done. When she complained about what the saleswoman had done she was accused by the salesperson and her manager of either not listening during the original sale or trying to wrangle some sort of freebie out of the situation. The salespeople we dealt with at this store were at best lazy and unwilling to take responsibility for mistakes they had made, and at worst they were deceptive and lied to us in order to try and force us into a situation where we would have to pay extra. Instead, we are going to our normal optometrist (Eye Health Northwest) and having them fix the glasses for us. We will never set foot in this store again, and I would warn anyone else against dealing with this establishment.

The manufacturer Swissflex gave me their name to purchase a pair of glasses from them using my insurance. I called them, they said they don’t have my coverage. I asked the snooty person over the phone to kindly call the manufacturer back so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. The response «unfortunately this is out of my abilities, anything else?» My answer was NOPE!

In our experience, Reynolds Optical has terrible customer service. When my lenses were manufactured with a coating that I had asked not to have applied since it could increase the likelihood of scratching, I was told that a note would be attached to my file that if the glasses scratched within a year, they would replace the lenses at no cost to me. When I went to have the lenses replaced due to scratching, there was no such note in my records and no accommodation/​consideration offered other than a full price replacement. And the employee asked me to rate their customer service at that time!

Last time I wrote, I had not received my glasses yet. Today, I have one of the two pair. The other has a tiny little scratch well out of the field of vision, but the good people at Reynolds caught it when inspecting the glasses and are having the lens replaced. You read that right. THEY caught the mistake and are fixing it.
As for the glasses that I am wearing right now… First of all, I must say that my eyes are extremely sensitive. I have had optical shops tell me that my prescription change was so tiny that I probably shouldn’t bother with new lenses — to me, the difference was unbearable. It was horrible.
Back to my new glasses. For the first time in over 20 (TWENTY) years, I put on a new pair of glasses and instantly felt the world come into perfect and beautiful focus. For 20 years, optical shops have told me, «It takes a few days to get used to a new prescription,» as I tottered out of the place feeling lopsided. And I’ve believed them. Yeah, maybe, if the new prescription has inferior lenses. My Reynold’s glasses are perfect and beautiful and I am one extremely happy girl!

Reynold’s is THE WORST place to purchase eyeglasses. I have worn glasses for twenty years and this was the most horrible experience I have ever had. They caused me more stress and more tears than any company I have ever worked with. They have absolutely no regard for their customers. The owner is disrespectful and belittling.
Once you go into any of their stores, the aggressive employees will follow you around the whole time, all the while pressuring you into making a purchase. I ended up purchasing a pair of glasses that both looked bad and were way too big for my face do to this coercion (I have a strong perscription so I couldn’t see myself properly). I strongly feel that I had been manipulated into buying a pair of glasses that was obviously wrong for me just to get comission and make a sale.
The policy is that after you buy them you cannot take them back. When I received my glasses it was obvious that they were not exceptable (especially considering paid over 600 for them). I had to go to the head store downtown where I was treated very rudely. I had started crying do the fear and frustration that they wouldn’t exchange them (I’m a poor college student and I could not afford to lose that money). The owner accused me of trying to MANIPULATE him with my tears. However, they did agree in the end that the glasses weren’t working and «made an exception».
When I did get a new pair of glasses, they came in the perscription was completely off. When I pointed this out the minute I put them on my face, the employee at NW 23^rd tried to argue with me, that I had to get «used» to them. And despite the fact that I have been wearing glasses for 20 years and have purchased countless pairs of eyeglass over the years, that SHE was apparantly the expert. I HAD to try them for 2 weeks at least to see and then they would consider that something MIGHT be wrong. I couldn’t even wear them because they made me sick to my stomach and it made everything warped and blurry. Luckily I was smart enough to ask for a copy of a perscription they used to make them. I took it to my eye doctor to compare it to the orignal perscription it turned out Renolyd’s made a HUGE error. They did fix it and then, six months after my intiial purchase, did I get a pair of eyeglasses that were acceptable.
I will never set foot in that store again. If you want retro-​style frames and save yourself the hell of working with Renoyld’s and google Warby Parker eyewear. Warby Parker is the BEST expericence I have had with purchasing eyewear. Affordable, stylish, good quality frames and the customer service is excellent.

Reynolds has a terrible reputation because of a few hipster employees and some managers who take their jobs too seriously. A few summers ago I received such terrible service at the Hawthorne location I swore never to go back. However, my mind was changed after my most recent trip to their downtown store. The optometrist, Dr. Hossini, was incredibly personable and professional and the sales staff charming and helpful. One just needs to be confident in dealing with the staff and not succumb to their desires to upsell.
If you are indecisive, have insurance and want your hand held go to Eyes On Broadway.

I had the worst retail experience ever. I recommend avoiding this place and checking out Visage or Golden Optical. I’ve had great experiences there.
I stopped in while doing some shopping Downtown. I found some glasses I liked and asked them to write down the style of the frame. I wanted to read about them on the internet and think about it before I drop $ 800-​$ 1000 on such a personal item. They informed me that their manager wouldn’t allow them to «write that down for me» so without thinking much about it I snapped a photo from my phone. The clerk yelled at me and snatched the glasses out of my hands. Shocked, I left the store…
When I called to discuss with the owner, he accused me of stealing his intellectual property. For the record, the information I was seeking was just the model of the glasses «Mykita David».

I guess they were afraid I would shop them around and choose to shop somewhere else. Their actions have removed all doubt that I will choose another store.
Shop somewhere else.

The best stocked optical store in Portland that I saw.
They even have their own private-​label designs in great, retro shapes.

I like Reynolds a lot, but they are pretty expensive. The best things about it are:
1. Multiple locations
2. Friendly eye doctors for a cheap $ 80 eye exam (without insurance)
3. Really good sales (held pretty frequently)
Bad: Generally the prices are way above my limit, but it is still fun to look around.
