QFC Quality Food Center

Woohoo! Great deal! That’s what I always look for when I go to the QFC store on E Burnside near my house. I like to look for food items that are approaching their shelf life expiration date that have the yellow Woohoo! sticker on them. Those items are often marked down by as much as half off the regular price, and they’re still good.. .they haven’t expired yet, and I’m going to eat them before they do anyway. When I go there in the evening, I can often find some good Woohoo! stuff in the bakery section as well as deli meat section. It’s actually kind of fun looking around because I never know what I might find. I know that Fred Meyer also has Woohoo! items because they both belong to Kroger, but this QFC seems to usually have the items I like. Well, now that I’ve let out this «secret», I hope there’ll still be enough stuff for me to pick from.

It’s my neighborhood grocery store (and I know it’s owned by Freddie’s but who cares?) The 55^th and East Burnside QFC has the greatest bunch of people working there ever! When I stagger in for the coffee I forgot to get the day before, looking bedraggled and sleepy-​eyed, they politely allow me to be invisible. When I want to converse, they are totally charming. If I need assistance, they gladly oblige. When they have something on sale, you really do save money (not just a few cents – their sale items are remarkable). If you have any requests or issues they deal with it right away. No hectic atmosphere here, it’s too well-​managed and well-​staffed. I love this place.

So, image a large store, filled with all the kinds of foods and items that you could ever imagine! Think about a place where you can buy fruits, vegetables, bread, Redbox movies, beer, lottery tickets, wine, cheese, gift cards to Red Lobster, donuts, pasta, eggs, rice, nuts, almond milk, batteries, ice cream, tampons, and pickles. Do you ever wish you could get all of those things in the same place?! WELL NOW YOU CAN!!! This magical place is called QFC! They even invite you to join their exclusive rewards club, and if you do, when you do self-​check out (yes, that’s a thing!!!) they say, «welcome valued customer» when you begin. WHAT A PLACE!!! You MUST go check it out!

The best «corner store» I’ve ever had! This QFC really has it all — friendly employees, competitive prices (especially weekly sales and manager specials), clean store with quality fresh produce, great selection of wine and beers for the size of the store, decent selection of specialty products (gluten-​free, international, etc.), and for those that can’t walk here there is an ample amount of parking while also being on the bus line. There is also a Starbucks inside and the staff there is equally as friendly as the cashiers, deli counter, and pharmacy department. I also love that this place is never too crowded and I can do my shopping without the anxiety of dodging a million carts. Also great for those of us who have strange work hours and/​or random needs, as it is open 24 hours.

Nice store. I prefer the one on the west side though.

QFC is a medium sized grocery store that is a great benefit to this fast trending neighborhood. It’s not a discount store, it’s owned by Fred Meyer so the prices on most items are on par with FM.
The store layout is convenient and parking is easy-​peasy because there are two entrances and one has a stoplight.
The store is right on the bus line for added convenience, so the location is really ideal.
The store has a good grocery selection considering its size, and the bakery and deli also have great selections. They have hot foods, gluten free, fresh donuts and pastries, and there is even a starbucks.
There is a self-​check area, and a pharmacy in the back. They also have a small but nice selection of gifty flowers and stuff.

This QFC is okay. It has lots of systematic similarities with Fred Meyer since their Simple Truth and Kroger products, along with the same checkout machines are to be found here. It is however vastly inferior. Prices are higher and the selection is smaller. The parking lot is medium. The Burnside location does have a interesting mix at this medium size store, including some sushi.
It has been my plan for awhile to check this place out. Things can really get crowded here. Some items are interesting, such as their cheese selection, which includes raclette. The charm of Whole Foods is lacking, making the quality declaration a bit sinister if meant to elevate this store above the competition. It is a selection with lots of organic offerings.
Move along folks.

Ugh. We come here because it’s in walking distance, but once again they’re understaffed to the point that we’ve gone to self checkout. I hate self checkout. It’s so picky that on every item we bag, it pauses with «ATTENDANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED TO ASSIST YOU». There is no attendant, and we didn’t need one. We need a machine that isn’t garbage.

Wow! This is a great store!
We have these is California, but they are no where near as great as this one. The ones back home are kind of ugly and gross. This one is super nice on the inside!
They have great produce, meats, etc. Large selection and great prices! They also have quite a bit of garden supplies and things both in the store and outside (most likely a seasonal thing).
The staff are really great, friendly, and helpful.
Check out their weekly ads, there are lots of great deals in there! They also have them at the store for you, but sometimes it’s nice to know what you’re going to get before you get there.
I will definitely be back.

We are visiting from California and staying in the area. Had no clue what a QFC or Fred Meyers was but this was perfect. The cashier was nice enough to swipe his members card for us. And it’s open ²⁴⁄₇!

Not as big as the larger grocery stores, but they have a good selection, great produce, and they’re open 24 hrs! For those of us on an alternate schedule, that’s a godsend. Some items I buy from whomever has a sale going, but there are a few items I can only find here. Well done, QFC.

This QFC location has been my «corner store» for close to 10 years. It has went through changes and remodels and is still the great store it has always been!
Two days ago I did some shopping, I went through Josh and Nates lane, Josh is always so nice and helpful! I really appreciate all of the long term employees, they are so nice. They have a great team at this location. The bakery, Deli, Meat department, Produce, and the Stockers! If I move away from this area, I will still do my shopping at this location!

When we first moved to the neighborhood in 2008 we’d never heard of QFC. It only has a couple of locations in Portland, and has much larger footprints north of the Columbia. We are so glad that it’s our nearest grocery store. There’s also a Fred Meyer a few blocks away, and we go there when we need a bigger selection or cheaper options.
QFC isn’t the least expensive grocery store. It’s a step above the run of the mill Safeway and Freddies. We can count on them for great meat and produce, a killer cheese selection in the deli, but the biggest reason we LOVE this QFC is their wine. They have a better wine selection than a lot of the local wine stores. In their wine cellar in the back they have some rare and special wines, and both in the cellar and on the shelves they have some great local wines.
Rob — the wine steward who works the hours I tend to shop is super knowledgable, and he remembers what I like which is great. I love a good dry rose, and I’m a sucker for good bubbly — so imagine my surprise when he showed me what would become one of my favorites, a dry rose bubbly! Over the years he’s given us some excellent recommendations. We are pretty dang loyal to them for the majority of our wine buying.
For you beer lovers they also have an excellent bottle selection… a lot of the things that I thought were exclusive to Belmont Station can also be found at QFC — who knew?
Everybody who works at this store is super friendly and helpful. They remember us which is always nice and welcoming. The pharmacy almost never has a wait which is very nice. If you’re around, do some shopping and I hope you leave with some yummy cheese and a nice bottle of something excellent!

When I first moved to this neighborhood earlier this year, I’d never heard of QFC; on driving by at first I thought it was not much more than a glorified 7 – 11. I was wrong! This is a full-​service grocery store with excellent produce, decent prices, and a great selection of faux meats (Gardein products are often $ 3.99, best price in Portland). Good specials also. Very friendly and helpful staff. I shop probably half the time here and half the time at Fred Meyer; I shop at Fred mainly for their bulk bins. Being a smaller store, QFC’s bulk bin area is not very extensive. If they could expand that area, I’d shop at QFC all the time. But truly one of my favorite stores and glad it’s close by!

Only living 2 blocks away makes this QFC is my 7 – 11. And minus the Slurpee machine, has a much better (healthier) selection of foods.
I do my big shopping at Freddy’s down on Glisan, but I love to do my «on sale» produce shopping at QFC. Their produce is the freshest I have encountered in a «super» market. They have a great deli, olive bar and their meat /​butcher shop is fantastic. Wine selection is pretty big considering the size of this store. Love the «manager special» mark downs as well. They must be pretty good to work for as I have seen the same employees there for years. They have a really nice selection of «prepared» but uncooked meat in the butcher case. When I and the hubby have a hankering for a «cooked on the grill at home hamburger», they have specialty patties that are fantastic. I have also enjoyed some of the stuffed roasts and fresh fish. They are my go to at Thanksgiving to order a fresh turkey as well. I wish they would price their Kroger brand the same as Freddy’s (it all comes from the same warehouse) cause I would buy more of my staples there

awesome place, 2 am in the morning and they were there with everything you might need. You can browse around hassle free and pay yourself with one of the machines. Very clean and organized and lots of variety.

QFC is more of a specialty grocery and this is reflected in the prices. In general I like the store. The layout is well done and I don’t have to think about where anything might be. The one thing I really hate about it though is the autochecker deal. I hate it so much that I always go to the line and let them do it. Besides and who knows, maybe it’ll contribute to saving a few jobs or at least slow things down a little bit. Their organic produce is very reasonable and I can can just about anything I want. Best part about it is the convenience of a place to run into and grab «a few things». It’s not likely I would ever do my entire shopping here.

I lived right around the corner from them and i went there for small stuff I needed. Really though, they had a great Friday wine tasting… I enjoyed that. The people who worked there were always friendly too.

Quick, Friendly, Close By? For my purposes, that’s what QFC stands for.
I’m new to the neighborhood, but I shopped at QFCs many times in my Seattle years. This QFC is a big improvement over the Wallingford QFC that was 2 blocks from my apt in Seattle.
The staff are friendly, the check-​out lines are quick, and the parking’s easy. They also have a nice mix of basic and more upscale and natural products, such as Fage greek yogurt. I wish the deli had better sandwich options, but hey, you can’t have it all.
This store’s about 15 blocks from my new place, so I predict I will be here quite often. I haven’t even had the chance to take advantage of the 24-​hour-​ness of the store yet. Once I do, I’m sure I’ll be bumping it up to that 5^th star.
