The urgent care service here is quite good. I was seen in a timely manner, in respect to whose case is more urgent than mine. I was seen within 30 minutes anyway and the staff was friendly about the whole situation. I was given PCP recommendations, because I had only mentioned in conversation that I had no idea how to go about finding one myself. The doctor took the time to actually print out a list of all their PCP for me with contact information.

My insurance and PCP are not around the area and my immune system sucks. This Immediate Care center is my lifesaver. Yes, I know I need to establish care with a PCP here in Portland, but I just haven’t had the time. Unfortunately for me, I fell ill and required medical attention… 3 times in 2 weeks. For all three times I went to the Gateway Providence Immediate Care. I don’t know why it has such low rating. I’ve never had a bad experience here. They are quick and efficient. If you have any questions, they are more than happy to answer them for you.
There was one incident where they were unsure what was wrong with me, so they had me transferred to Providence Portland ER. You get in much quicker when they send you to the ER. Score! No score for being sickly though :(womp womp.
I definitely recommend this place if you need quick care and cannot get into your PCP. They’ve always delivered the proper care, unlike other immediate/​urgent cares I have been to.

This place SUCKS! If you happen to find yourself in the unfortunate predicament of not having a primary care physician or if your doctors office is not open on the weekend or if you have no insurance save yourself the pain and suffering of going to this shithole and go to the ER instead. I’ve had to go here 3 times. On every occasion I was treated rudely by the reception staff and the triage nurse. The minimum wait time out of my 3 visits was 3.5 hours. One of those times I got up and left after waiting 5 hours and watching several people who came in after me get seen 1^st. Also, some of the other patients waiting are inconsiderate idiots. One lady was playing music full blast on her cell phone with no headphones. I guess she thought everyone wanted to hear 50 cent while they were in pain and suffering while waiting to be seen by some rude nurse. Kids scream throughout the waiting area and people argue with their significant others loudly on their cell phones. All the medical equipment is old and outdated to. If you have access to a prescription pad and the internet you are better off than going here.

This review is for the Immediate Care Department.
First off, I don’t have health insurance. I was duped into thinking I qualified at my current job, and since I almost never get sick, I can’t justify paying hundreds of dollars per month for terrible coverage. That being said, I have been sick for the last four days, and have been trying to ignore it so I don’t have to pay to go to the doc. My husband found that Providence has a «low cost» clinic, and they offer discounts on services, etc based on your income.
To be seen, it is still $ 90, but well worth it. I walked into a packed waiting room, but unlike other free/​low cost clinics, I was treated like a real person. I was in a room within 45 minutes and being taken care of. I’ve gone to clinics before that I’ve waited 3 – 4 hours just to be seen. No fun when you are feeling like crap. The Medical Assistant that was helping me before the doctor came in was extremely professional, and very friendly. The doctor was patient, and didn’t look like he was trying to hurry and run out the door, like the care I was used to when I had Kaiser. I also learned that Providence is a not-​for-​profit medical center.
Now supposedly, their charges shouldn’t go over a certain dollar amount, so I’ll have to update this review once I receive the bill. But they do offer financial assistance.
EDIT: Received the bill, and they even gave me a discount for being uninsured. The total was only $ 180 for the doctor visit and strep and blood tests. That may seem like a lot, but then think about the cost of paying for insurance on your own (my employer doesn’t offer it). My monthly premium would be about $ 200, and I would have still had to pay that amount because of a high deductible. Do I pay $ 2400 a year and never use it? Or do I take a risk and pay $ 180 in that year when I have to get care?
