Portland Community College – Rock Creek Campus

School focuses on money rather than teaching their students. Students complaints are not properly handled and fault is pushed on the students. Unfortunately I will have to attend at a school farther away. Thats ok, they will not see my tuition money.

They should have planned some of the construction for before school started. The place is torn apart. Temp fences everywhere. No way to drop off/​pick up students near transit or the majority of the buildings and parking lot. Parking lot entrances are very hard to find, especially at night. Buildings are not well marked. The building/​parking map has no light at all so if you need to know how to get to an event at night, you are completely out of luck.

Used to be better, still okay.

I took an Economics class here in 2014 and was incredibly impressed with the beauty of the campus. The library is stunning, it looks like a Barnes and Noble with huge vaulted ceilings and nice fancy wood work. There is art everywhere too, definitely the nicest community college campus I have ever seen.

This is my favorite campus for PCC! The layout is really convenient, the instructors here are very friendly, and the entire place seems very clean and functional. That, and there is a good spread of classes here; I can take my computer science pre-​reqs and any other classes that I might need (at other campuses some courses aren’t available so you would have to go to two different campuses).
All around great, and the parking is perfect — never have to worry about finding a spot.

They’re Parking Nazis, I live far from campus and drive. I pay $ 50 for a parking permit and still don’t get a parking spot. If you park within 4 blocks of the Cascade campus you get a ticket. I think it’s the only place that gets away with selling you a parking permit that doesn’t guarantee you a parking spot. As if tuition wasn’t high enough now they’re scamming you out of parking money or ticketing you. It’s a bullshit scam that needs to be addressed.

I spent my winter term of 2014 here for Anatomy & Physiology as a pre requisite for my further studies. The campus itself is under construction and it looks like they are doing a good job. I was stuck in one building and split between two rooms. The classroom was good, the seats were fine and the tables were sturdy. The lab room was a little iffy. I hate the chairs. I wish they were rolling chairs and that disinfectant was more readily available.
Now to my main issue with the Rock Creek Campus. The parking. Wow. I had to get here an hour early just to find a space. If I’m paying $ 50 a quarter for parking I better be getting a space. Until the parking is fixed, I will keep you at ³⁄₅ stars.

PCC has put me in the fast track! Anyone who is looking for an affordable education will find it here! A lot of the teachers here at part time, because they work at PSU (Portland State University). So you are basically paying half the cost at PCC for the SAME EDUCATION! What I love the most about PCC is the community. Students are friendly and teachers are helpful.
This college deserves at least four stars! Anyone who gives this school a bad rating is probably upset that they got a bad grade! Seriously, the teachers are great! If a student has a question, ASK! Your teacher will answer! Students are responsible for their grades, not your parents, not your teachers. Teachers are only there to HELP YOU! Its not their problem that you failed or you only got a «C». PCC deserves good students and they want to help you with your future!

Huge campus, facilites have new equiptment and libraries have all the new books and lots of computers and resources. Professors are very accessible and willing to help.
Love the place is very clean and buildings aren’t run down.

The staff at this school really needs some extra customer service training or something along those lines… the financial aid office especially. Everytime that I have had to contact them with a question regarding my financial aid they have been really rude and very unhelpful. They act as is you are wasting their time by asking a few questions. Even though it is their job to answer financial aid questions and help students with financial aid concerns. They act like it is beyond them to explain things or answer questions… not to mention the prices to take classes are outrageous! Its like come on this is a community college not a freaking university. I have decided to go elsewhere for classes because I can’t afford their tuition costs and when trying to figure out a way to pay for classes, they were of no help and couldn’t even explain anything that I asked of them… the people that I have spoken to are also some of the rudest people I have ever had to deal with… just by having to deal with the staff that j have dealt with it is enough to make me totally change my mind about attending this school.

This is a cool campus to visit and walk around. Backs up to an outdoor park and rec center with tennis courts, baseball field, cement walking path throughout the park and a really cool AstroTurf soccer field.
I love to go out and do a work out there because of the ability to cross train. The area is very scenic and if you want you can also visit a small museum right on campus about that area. Just remember when you park, park in rec center parking, otherwise you can get ticketed if you park in student parking!

When I graduated high school in 2004, I had intentions of working my summer job at Albertson’s and then returning to school in the fall of that year at PCC — Rock Creek. I looked forward to gaining my associate’s degree as efficiently as I could. My optimism quickly diminished as I ran out of money, got tired of doing busy work for what I think of as non-​core classes, and began getting D’s in math (my downfall in school) after a somewhat promising start.
So I didn’t return for winter term that year. I went back to my summer job, which turned into a regular job for a calendar year, until a relative opened the door for me to work in the freight business. I worked that for a while, but as accounts flopped and hours grew thin, so did my checking account and I was forced to find other work in a warehouse this past summer. It sucked. And as I lifted a heavy box and tweaked my back just a little bit, «I should go back to school so I don’t have to do this shit right now» ran across my mind.
Later that week I enrolled in classes nearly two and a half years after I stopped going.
After another optimistic start, I’ve grown tired of PCC yet again. What I’m realizing is the university-​inspired workload doesn’t match up to their wanna-​be university atmosphere. Personally, I’m not in the business of busting my balls for a reading class (yes, they can’t intermix reading and writing courses) that’s only the second of four courses. Oh, while we’re on the whole «intermix» thing, Reading and Writing courses have to be on the same level. Now I’m sure there is an underlying benefit to doing this, but it bums me out I’m stuck at Writing 90 when I initially tested into Writing 115.
Also, one thing lacking from the atmosphere is intramural sports. Granted, I’m a sports nut and I’m biased, but I think for being as big as the whole PCC system is, they could humor some of the student body and give us basketball, softball, or flag football, as PCC — Rock Creek has facilities for all three and more.
One «plus» I’ve noticed is I’ve had professors who I’ve liked, and professors who I’ve ranked as «neutral,» but I’ve yet to come across one I don’t like. Also, some of the buildings and equipment at Rock Creek are only three or four years old, which is definately a benefit.
Although personal opinion spoils the rating, 1 star is what comes to mind when I think of PCC — Rock Creek.
