Portland By Segway

I was SO excited about this. I called and the lady on the phone seemed irritated first off. When I gave my information and told her it was «just me» she said oh, we don’t do tours with just one person. She took my CC # and info anyway, said I would be emailed with the meeting place.
I waited and didn’t receive the email, so I called and got the «meeting place» with the tour guide. About 20 minutes later, the lady called back to say the tour for the day had been cancelled (even though the site says no refunds, rain or shine they provide a poncho!)
I am single and travel ALL over, and by myself. I am disappointed that for this I would «need» a partner?
Portland and the many things I have done are AMAZING. This? No. I Won’t even attempt this when I return, what if I am, God forbid, Alone!!!

A fun way to be a tourist in Portland! Cassandra out guide was knowledgeable and fun! Great for the whole family. The Segway was surprisingly easy to drive/​ride.

Kurt was a great guide and we had so much fun. I would definitely recommend a Segway tour in downtown!

This is a must do! It’s a great way to see the city and learn a little about the city. Make sure Kurt (like Cobain) is your tour guide! He was awesome! Very knowledgable, patient and funny.
We started off learning about the Segway, how it functions and safety features. Then one by one he had us mount the Segway and helped make sure we were comfortable with the machine.
We opted for the two hour tour and it flew by! You will have so much fun exploring the city by Segway. I wish it had been longer! Kurt made stops along the way to show us landmarks and give us a history of the city. He took pictures along the way so that we had a memory of our trip.
I think you will love it as much as we did! Thank you for awesome tour!

Biz made this tour excellent! She was patient and knowledgable and really made us absolute beginners feel totally comfortable. Now if only we could afford to buy the $ 6,000 Segways for ourselves, we would do it in a heartbeat!

Just spent a wonderful two hours with Kurt having my first Segway experience. He has patience for newbies, fun facts about the area, and he is easy in the eyes. ;0)
I had way more fun that I thought I would. The area is beautiful and he is a great tour guide. Two thumbs up and my thanks!

My guy suggested a Segway tour of Portland and we had a blast! BIZ was our guide & she is great. Very professional, knowledgeable & personable. She explained the dynamics of the Segway machine well, helping me feel comfortable on it, almost like dancing. We had the option of downtown or the River. We chose downtown, it was interesting to hear about Portland ’ s rich history. A really Fun tour we recommend for all. Wish we could see all of Portland on Segways.

If you are going for a world class tour of Portland this isn’t the tour you want.
If you want some generic site seeing and to cruise around on a Segway you should definitely check it out.
Our tour guide was personable and fun. We stopped for a beer half way through and I would do this tour again.

Okay, after reading the other reviewers… I am compelled to write a little something about this company.
For starters — Segways are a bunch of fun to ride. No seriously. I’m considering buying one. BUT (and heavy on the but)…this is NOT a review about the freaking equipment. (come’on Unilocalers).
My parents were coming into Portland from out of town. They are huge fans of these types of tours, have done a tour in about 6 other major US cities (including DC). I mixed a little of their feedback with my own.
This was a very pleasant experience. Micheal was our tour guide. He started off by first trying to find us (Lovejoy fountain park isn’t the easiest one to find in the city). Then proceeded to give us a crash course on the machines. It was a little unnerving at first, but he was VERY calm and was an excellent instructor.
We carried onto the other park near Lovejoy… I forget the name. This is the first downhill part of the tour. I panicked and thought I was going to lose control of the Segway. Micheal was pretty calm and said in his quasi-​surfer tone, ‘just sit back a little’. No panic… no yelling. It was exactly what I needed to not fly over the handles!
The tour continued onto the sidewalks of downtown Portland. Learned about the Portland Building and how ugly it is… but the best part was when we got a chance to open it up on the Harrison St. bridge. My parents never got to go on a bridge before on these and never had a time to really go full speed ahead. It was a bunch of fun from then on because we were all super comfortable with the Segways.
Before the bridge, there is a stop to grab something to eat and use the restroom. Great Hawaiian food cart near the Starbucks.
There were a few thing to which I think would have made the OVERALL experience better. Again, our tour-​guide was great, he was super personable and he meshed very well with the group.
A few things felt shady and hesitant to book: the website… I was VERY hesitant to book the tour (thank goodness I went through!). I hate giving a credit card over the phone without feeling confident in doing so. As silly as it may seem, it’s the perfect shill for ripping off unsuspecting tourists.
The meeting location: it felt a bit too unprofessional to meet at a park. I was in a group of 4 people, we spent $ 260 on 2 hours of fun. It’s not a terrible amount of money, but at least give us a spot to meet. It would have alleviated worries that we had up to the tour: 1) is this a legit business… my folks said that the tours they had done were where they met at a storefront. 2) since the Segways did not have a pouch to put our stuff in, maybe provide lockers or safe storage of some sort (although Micheal did offer his) 3) A PLACE TO USE THE BATHROOM!!! We just traveled from the burbs, in traffic… we needed to go. Oh, and maybe have a better POS station. The cube was not working (those thing overall stink) and it took a good ¹⁰⁄₁₅ minutes to run our card through in the end.
Other than that, we all really enjoyed our tour and still talk about the fun things that went on. I hope that I can con my SO in looking goofy but going on one of these tours again sometime in the future!

Awesome ride !! Its been almost a month and we still remember. Felt to purchase my own segway soon after the ride. I would highly recommend this tour for everyone who visits Portland.

Warning! After taking this tour you will want your own Segway! This tour is AWESOME! We went around downtown and learned some fun facts, opened them up (they max out at 12.5 mph) across the Hawthorne Bridge then back down along the waterfront. Our guide, Tyler, was entertaining and informative. Segways are easy to ride and so much fun. It is soooo worth it to take this tour.

You think you know Portland… Well you don’t know Portland on a Segway unless your rich. This tour was awesome. we stop a few location I’ve been to in the passed but didn’t know the history. For the most part we just cursed around town.
From the water front, to the pearl, to downtown an back again. It’s not just single file cursing, it’s stay with in view of the group and bomb around with respect of others of chores.
Anyway, you’ve gotta do it at lest once ots really fun.

Spent 2 hours with Tyler the most uninteresting guide EVER! There was no tour, no script. It’s very disappointing since we have used Segways around the world for basic tours. Find another tour company, unless you want to ride Segways with a lazy tour guide.

OMG THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! I used to make fun of Segway tours. No longer.
First: The Segways. Super easy to ride once you get the hang of them. They’re a little scary at first, but once you lear not trust that they won’t fall over and shoot off like a rocket with you attached to them, you’re golden. They also go surprisingly fast!
Second: Tyler, the tour guide. Definitely a keeper. Stopped at the appropriate spots to give some history about Portland, but mostly just let use ride along.
Third: The tour. I’m a Portlander, I do not need a tour of Portland. Tyler understood that, and kept in the funnest part — riding the Segway!
Moral of the Story: Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!

You gotta try this! You’ll be wanting to buy your own Segway after 2 hours of riding one through Portland. The Segway is so much fun to ride, and you get a great tour of Portland. Our guide told amazing stories of Portland history. Here’s a hint (((Don’t forget to tip))) 6 in our group and we were the only ones who tipped…

If you’ve never ridden a Segway you’re in for a treat. They are so cool! I won’t be buying one anytime soon as my scooter is much faster and can carry more stuff back from the market, BUT, a Segway is a BLAST! I’ve ridden them in several cities now and Portland is one of the best for a «Tour» on them. After a short indoctrination and a tutorial on a couple of necessary tmanuevers (like STOPPING) you get the hang of it REAL quick-​like and you’re ready to go. Pretty soon, everyone on the tour is zipping around and having a ball
But don’t get TOO carried away Parnelli… The thing WILL perform a «Flying Suplex» on you if you get too big fer your britches and back up against something or think your 10 foot tall and bulletproof.
All you do is lean the direction you want to travel and it senses your lean and off you go. Got your sea legs under you? Once you learn to stop on a dime (just like snow plowing) your confidence gets better and better. Soon the bug has got you and everyone around you has an indelible grin! OK, there is always «ONE» in EVERY crowd who can’t seem to relax and go with the flow, but that ain’t gunna be YOU ‘cuz YOU are «Natural»!! Lookit ‘Cho GO Man! Every kid in town is envious of you and they are drawn to your group like a magnet. Most people smile at your antics but there is always a Grumpy Old Fart (GOF) that doesn’t like ANYONE having a good time. «IF» we ever send someone back to the Moon, I say fergit the «Moon Mobile», send a coupla Segways!

Came to Portland with the family to visit my brother and we wanted to tour the city! Found Portland By Segway and had the best time! Jerred was our tour guide and did an awesome job showing us all around the city in downtown Portland as well as getting to go across the bridge! So much fun! Geoff came along with extra tidbits of fun information! Needless to say, even my brother (who wasn’t so sure he wanted to tour his own city) had a blast!!! Best way to tour, especially with such a great Segway company! Would do it again and again!
