LOVE MY POD SERVICE!!! These guys are great. Had an issue with the permit and the delivery gentleman waiting and helped me resolve the issue WITH THE CITY (no issue with the POD service). He dropped the POD exactly as requested and pick up was a breeze.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING PODS FOR YOUR MOVE!

We never had an issue with this service until we tried to cancel it, so that tells you something right there. We had the pod sitting in front of our house for three months, without any question of permits. Then it was moved to the storage facility while we were abroad for two years. Now, we want it delivered to us to put in the exact same spot it sat on for three months, then removed and to cancel service at the end of the week. The initial plan was to have it delivered on Saturday, but instead, we got four phone calls and two+ hours of wasting our time. We were asked if we had a permit, and we said no, we never needed one and we were only going to have the pod for two days anyway. Then we were told we needed to sign a waiver in case the city came and towed it away, over a holiday weekend. Then AFTER we were finally told by the driver that he would be out to our house soon, when it was almost dark anyway, he called about 20 minutes later and said he wasn’t coming bc his manager wanted us to get a permit. They rescheduled our delivery for Tuesday without talking to us. I was so mad, I complained to the chat agent Chris and asked him to waive our delivery fee, which he refused. I got the permit in literally an hour, and if these clowns had told us from the start that we had to have one, we could have gotten the pod delivered at the time it was scheduled. Now it’s Tuesday and our delivery window according to the email was 7 – 10. It’s 11:25 and nothing. I used the chat to ask when it would be delivered and «Chris» said that his system said it was scheduled for 12:45 — 3:45. He would not ask the driver to come sooner, he would not waive our delivery fee even when I pressed him about it several times. He would not do ANYTHING. My husband doesn’t even live here, he is visiting from Brazil and wanted to help me empty this pod and cancel service. Pods is wasting DAYS of our time, and they won’t even waive the delivery fee. They also don’t prorate, so we will have to pay the entire fee of $ 185 for this joke of a service, even though our plan was to have it cancelled by the 4^th. Their customer service is totally useless and shouldn’t even exist, and will do absolutely nothing to make an issue right. I do not recommend them, and will never use them again.

I was delighted with my PODS experience. When I was looking into it, I called to see how secure the unit would be sitting at an unoccupied house. It turned out they had a special where they would store the unit, deliver it and pick it up at no charge if I rented for three months. I ended up renting for five.
The delivery both times (to load and unload) was promptly when they said it would be, the women who drove were competent, friendly and efficient, and I was very happy with the service.

Great service! PODS provided the flexibility that I really needed in this move from a owning a house to renting a house. Timely delivery, clean units, helpful staff, lots of communication, friendly service… the list goes on!

Everything was easy. Thankfully, the driver gave me information on how to get the important city permits. Very reliable, billing was accurate. Worked out great!

We had a great experience with PODs. Having this option made our move go so slick and it was super convenient! The POD was delivered and moved on time. We did not have any complaints about the payment system. They were worth every penny for the convenience factor alone… plus it was cool seeing how they load and unload those things-​mechanical brilliance!

We used PODS to move a local non-​profit. We had a super-​limited budget and the local folks were really great about working with us. We needed the POD stored for 3 weeks in between locations, so this was ideal for us — we didn’t have to pay for 2 moving trucks plus a storage unit (which was the alternative). We had good luck with national service as well as the local office. One snafu with the drop-​off at our new location — brand new driver was really nervous and gave up so we had to reschedule delivery for the next day. But they were great about rescheduling and the 2^nd delivery attempt was super smooth. Of all the vendors we dealt with for the move — disconnecting/​reconnecting utilities, former landlord/​new landlord, contractors, etc. — PODS staff were the most pleasant and understanding.

OMG! The initial dropoff and storage went smoothly. Aug1 I had planned for POD retrieval and booked it to be delivered 2 weeks in advance. Aug 1 came and went, NO CALL, no communication from PODs at all. Called Sunday morning and the best they could do was Wednesday drop off. Lost a whole weekend of unloading. The POD delivery smuck managed to block all 3 garage doors with a 12′ long POD. He could not have placed it more perfectly to render my driveway useless. Now, trying to get rid of this monstrosity is like parting the seas. Nothing like dealing with Tampa, FL to get a POD removed from my Portland, OR driveway 3462 miles away! Will see what tomorrow brings…

I am not even a PODS customer and I have to review. PODS placed a container fully on my property, partially blocking my driveway. I have called every day since and gotten the same BS answer of not being able to help me without an account pin. I don’t have an account — I’m not a customer — GET IT OUT OF MY YARD! They logged my ‘incident number’ and said they would call in 48 – 72 hours, which is completely unacceptable — it shouldn’t be in my yard for ten minutes much less 3 days! Well Day 4 and today’s fresh hell of an excuse was they have been unable to review it since they can’t get a hold of an account holder –NO SH! T I DON’T HAVE AN ACCOUNT!!! The dummy they have on phones, same as all the other telephone headset wearing idiots they hire and torture, tells me she can’t transfer me to anyone with a title, can’t give me information without and account pin, and that it will take another 48 – 72 hours to review. I don’t want it reviewed I WANT IT GONE. My next call is to the Fire Department to see if they want to do a practice exercise on a flaming POD. Have at it boys!

I’d give them a ZERO if I could.
Moving locally. Arranged for 1 pod dropped at my old house. When that POD was picked up and moved to new home, asked for a second POD to be placed. Discussed a 3^rd and was told I had better book it and I could cancel later.
First delivery was great. Within 2 days however they dropped the second POD and tried to pick up the first, it wasn’t ready. I had scheduled specific dates for pick up. They came back and moved 1^st container to new home and dropped a 3^rd container. WHICH I HAD CANCELED RIGHT AFTER ORDERING. I called no less than 20 times trying to get them to pick up the 3^rd container. They actually ARGUED with me telling me that I didn’t have a 3^rd container. That one sat in my driveway for weeks. When I arranged to have the second POD delivered to my new home the idiots picked up the empty third POD and moved it to my new home even though we had SPECIFICALLY discussed the POD ID number to be moved.
I’m now fighting with them to pick up the empty PODS. They’ve missed 2 pick ups saying they couldn’t get to the POD which is a lie. Now I’ve had to change my other deliveries because I’m being held hostage by PODS.
I’ve been on the phone with them for HOURS and nothing is resolved. They are ridiculously bad at following through on their scheduling and customer service. The POD people at the main office seem competent and thorough but the whole process has been a JOKE.
Find someone who has their act together. Moving is expensive and stressful enough without incompetent people causing more stress and lost funds.

This update is to serve more as a heads-​up to long-​distance movers. Apparently their policy is to take the first payment for your POD a week before your rental date actually starts. Even though we didn’t actually load our POD until May 29^th, they charged our card on May 22^nd and were ready to charge again on June 22^nd for another month of use. Thankfully they will be picking up our empty POD beforehand, so that’s not a worry. They claimed that my card wouldn’t be charged again until June 29^th, but I’m a little skeptical. Just stay sharp.

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I will never use PODS again and I would never recommend them to anyone. Stay far away from these people!
I’ll try to keep this short. It’s worth reading though if you are considering this company! I was charged 3,500+ for a service I never received.
I called on the 17^th and asked for information on a move from Austin to Portland.
I was told that they have two container sizes, a 7 foot (7×7×8) and a 16 foot. I was told by a representative named Monique that the 7 foot was typically used for 1 to 2 bedrooms and the 16 foot for 3 to 4 bedrooms. We live in a one bedroom apartment. We got off the phone, my husband and I measured our furniture and ordered the 7 foot container to be delivered the next day.
After it was delivered my husband and I realized how small the container was. We measured the inside and it came out to 6 ½ feet, 3 inches too small for our couch. I called PODS and was told that I had been given the dimensions of the OUTSIDE of the container, not the inside.
The container is actually 6 ½×6 ½×7 ½. The customer service representative I was speaking to was apologetic, said she had no idea why I wasn’t given the dimensions of the inside of the container. I asked her how much it would cost to swap it out for a larger container, she gave me a price and set it up to be delivered the next day. I told her that I needed to talk to my husband about it first and she told me to just call back before 4 PM if I needed to cancel. I spoke to my husband and immediately called back to cancel. The 16ft was too large to safely and tightly pack our belongings. I spoke with another customer service representative named Julie. After explaining the situation she told me that all of my money would be refunded, that she felt it was not my fault, agreed but I had been misled, gave me an incident number and told me a customer service representative would be calling me within 72 hours to get more information.
Someone came and picked up the empty POD a few hours later.
The next day a customer service representative named Kimberly called me at eight in the morning. I called her back within 30 minutes and she did not answer. I then proceeded to call her every two hours that day and the next day with no answer.
PODS charged me for moving the small container and the large container to Oregon, even though the large one was never delivered and obviously neither were ever moved across the country. It has now been six days and I have seen no refund. I called today and was told there wasn’t even a note in my file stating that I had cancelled.
I talked to a supervisor who told me that my claim is in review, that they are going to listen to all of the phone conversations I had with their representatives, and that he had no idea how long it was going to take but no refund could be issued until that process was completed. Despite the fact that they had charge me for services I never received.
He then proceeded to ask me why I did not order their 12 foot container, as that was the standard for one bedroom apartments. What 12 foot container, I was told you only had two sizes? 7 and 16? No, he said, they have a middle size that I was never informed of. No one that works there seems to have a clue.
At this point I have paid over $ 3500 to have a 7 foot pod dropped off and then picked up empty.
I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.
Stay away from this company!

Great experience! Website easy to use. I was using the POD for additional space while I sorted belongings from a second home. The POD was delivered to my home, on time and was clean and ready for use. The charges were fair, however the rent is by monthly only and is not prorated for less time used. Also charges for drop off and pick up. All of which at stated on the website.
Pickup and delivery was done within the 2hour window I was given. for short term use it was easier than a storage unit.

Jury is still out.
I moved an elderly relative’s stuff from Medford, OR to Georgia using a POD.
Everything arrived intact. I highly recommend wrapping fragile things WELL, using lots of furniture blankets, packing things high and tight, using multiple ratchet straps. Hire experienced movers to load and pack the pod because they can get more in the pod than you will be able to.
Beware. PODS’s invoicing is crazy.
All in all, I had a positive experience using them and will use them again.

WATCH OUT FOR ALL THE FEES. I had a POD delivered to the house costing me 78.00 to drop off and 145.00 for one months rent. When I called for them to pick it up they charged me 227.00 to move from one town to another (approx 40 miles). Then they charged another 78.00 to pick it up once it was unloaded. I paid rent for one month starting on the 14^th and had the POD picked up on the 25^th. The charged me the full month and won’t reimbuse me for the remainder of the month. The POD cost me over 500.00 for one month. Hire a moving truck with a couple guys, you will come out way cheaper. The only reason I gave them two stars was that the drivers were great and on time.

I had a fantastic experience with PODs. I moved from Florida to Boston. I got the smaller size pod for my minimally furnished 1 bedroom apartment and all my stuff fit in it and then some. After looking at all my boxes and factoring in a mattress and a few other pieces of furniture, I had serious doubts, but I had room left. Word of advice: stack up to the ceiling!
Delivery drivers were great, delivery was always in the window they said it would be. Overall the experience was great. A long distance move is SO SO SO stressful, it was great to have one less thing to worry about!

Could possibly be the worst customer service experience I have ever had. They were supposed to deliver a POD between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. They never delivered it. The customer service rep in Florida said they were on there way twice, but they never showed. And never called. They won’t give you the local number, so you can’t talk to them. The local owner was on his way home at 4:00 in the afternoon, and refused to talk to us. DON’T USE THESE PEOPLE, THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU!

Pretty darned happy with the whole experience.

As a previous poster stated this company takes absolutely no accountability.
I would not let them near my house ever again.
When the driver came to pick up our empty pod he slammed it into the corner of our house causing about $ 12,000 damage. These things happen, right? Well… can you believe he drove away without knocking on our door to let us know what happened?
Calling the customer service line is a nightmare, they are rude and inconsiderate. They refused to give me any contact information for my local pods office and said someone would contact me next week???
WTF?
I’m waiting for the police to show up as I write this review.

PODS seems like such a great idea, especially for a cross-​country move: like putting all of your stuff in a moving van, but then not having to drive the van yourself. It just shows up on the other end, all ready for you. Right?
That… sort of happened. PODS was due to deliver our unit on a Saturday morning, and we didn’t see it until the following Tuesday. Frustrating. But more infuriating was the hours spent on hold (as cross-​country moves can’t be managed online) and the days spent waiting for a unit that would be coming «any time now”– so we had to be home to receive it.
So, all that earns two stars. The unit did arrive, after all, and with only minor damage to the stuff inside. But what really seals the deal with these guys is the execrable service we received, both in trying to *find* the POD (they didn’t know where it was between Friday and Monday), and in trying to get compensation for the delay. *Hours* spent on hold. Outright lies from customer service agents («I don’t have a supervisor» followed by «My supervisor won’t permit me to do that,» among others). Profound incompetence.
These guys may be ok when everything goes fine. But when problems crop up, expect to be bogged down in bureaucracy for weeks. Oh. And don’t expect a compensatory discount for your trouble, either.

So, we ordered a POD last year when we moved. we needed to store the POD at their storage facility for a few weeks until our new place was ready. When they delivered our POD to the new place, we realized we couldn’t open our lock… turns out they delivered somebody elses POD. It was a bit of an ordeal but these things happen.
Currently, we have a POD for our new move and this time they charged us for the same service twice. A seemingly simple mistake which they were apologetic about. however, it has now been two weeks since I noticed they over charged us, and still no refund. I have spoken with three employees & emailed them once, and have gotten no response.
They kept telling me that someone from accounting would contact me, but nobody has. It’s really frustrating!
I love the convenience of the POD, but after this experience I don’t think I would rent one again.
