The people who work here make me not want to come back. Even when they’re friendly it’s in an disingenuous, awkward, and overbearing way and the last time I was here the guy was just plain rude.

I came in tonight and the man behind the counter was so rude and made the entire occupancy of my car come in with our ids. We are all well over 18. I am 30. And regardless, I have a valid id. While going out of our way, the dog ate the leftovers and trashed the car. He needed to id everyone in the car. For a pack of smokes. For a car of 30 year olds. What a jerk. Grown up don’t by cigarettes for children. I’ve never been so insulted.

Usually had good experiences, but lost all of that today with Asst Manager Terry. Would not sell beer to me because my wife(who is over 30) left her ID at home. She had to go home to get it before he would sell it to me. In that span of time, 3 separate people purchased alcohol, none of which were IDed. When I pointed that out to Terry, he raised his voice and told me that he knew the other people were 21 years old. Not going back.

Plaid Pantry. You’re A-OK in my book. Sure you’re a chain convenience store. Sure you offer mostly junk food, beer, sodas, convenience-store sundries and some non-heart-healthy prepared foods. But you know what? You do it with a little flair. At least at this location. This Plaid has the same above-par beer selection(compared to other chain convenience stores), the same extended soda selection(compared to other chain convenience stores) and the same quality selection of snax(Kettle Chips FTW!). But the folks who work here bring a little extra added something in to the mix. One fine Sunday it’s disco music blasting from the little cashier’s boombox, initiating a small impromptu dance party in the aisles while snack shopping. Another time it’s a friendly smile and some witty banter. It’s not always from one specific clerk either. Everyone I’ve encountered working here has been pretty entertaining. At least as entertaining as a convenience store cashier can be. This location is directly on the path between my house and a buddy who lives in Woodstock, so it’s a natural stop for me when I’m in need of supplies along the way. Beers for a Blazer game? Check. Chips for the BBQ? Yup. Ice? You bet. It’s a Plaid. You know what they have. Well, maybe you do. Take your impression of what a good convenience store has and introduce an even better beer selection. BOOM!
