I called around for an appraisal shop that I could trust, after much research I landed on this wonderful place! Mark was very professional and helpful when I called to ask questions and make an appointment. Brad helped me and performed my appraisal of my new engagement ring. He let me look at my diamond with the microscope and he told me all about my ring and diamond. I left learning so much great information and was excited that I learned so much. I also was very glad to know I could stay there while they did the appraisal and it was very quick. They also validate parking at the Smart Park. Highly recommended!

What a great experience. With all the worries of the wedding and stress that goes with such a special event, it was nice to not have to sorry about the important details of the rings. Mona and crew were professional and on top of every detail. Showing me several stones, explaining the difference between the grades and colors and why one is differently priced then another, After choosing the stone and setting, the delivery of the final ring was on time and when promised. I’ve gone to Pacific Gem Labs twice to get some appraisal done. The first time was for my engagement ring and the second time was for another ring.
On both pieces, I worked with Mark. He’s knowledgeable and friendly. He also took the time to answer any questions that I had about the jewelry and the appraisal.
They estimate the appraisal takes about 90 minutes but I’ve been able to pick up my jewelry after about an hour. You can also drop off your item and pick it up later in the day.
There’s a coffee shop on the first floor of the building (Lotus & Bean Espresso Bar), a Starbucks about two blocks away, and plenty of malls around if you’re looking to stay and kill time. While there is a small waiting area stocked with magazines in their office, I preferred to get out and let them do their work.
Both my items were appraised a tad bit higher than I was expecting but still within range. The difference, in my opinion, didn’t warrant a second appraisal elsewhere. They’ll also clean your jewelry for you.
Their jewelry appraisal prices went up a bit between my 2 visits, which was 3 months apart. When I first went, the appraisal was $ 100 with a hard copy of the written appraisal. The second time, it was $ 100 with a PDF of the appraisal and $ 110 with a hard copy of the appraisal. Their written appraisal is detailed though and is what jewelry insurers typically want.

Sometimes a girl needs an appraisal. Yes, that’s right there’s judging involved but this time only for insurance purposes.
I called a friend and told her I needed a good appraiser for some jewelry I had. I thought, since I was recently engaged, I should have the ring checked out and I had some earrings that I had been promising myself that I would get appraised.
I called and made an appointment. They made it for a couple days out and they said I could drop off my pieces or simply wait for them. I thought since I was already driving downtown, I would just wait. They told me of coffee shops downstairs, etc. However, I was content to catch up on my reading.
They had a couple of chairs out of the way for you to wait while the gemologist worked with your items.
They told me to allow two hours but I was back on the road after about an hour and a half.
They validate your parking. Which is good because there is a smart park right across the street. I thought they covered the entire thing but they only gave me an hour, so I ended up paying for the additional hour. It seems like they could pay for the entire parking duration as you are spending a couple of hundred dollars to have items appraised. Perhaps an oversight.
The values came out about where I figured they would, which was good and they cleaned up my gems for me. The gemologist did make some suggestions about my earrings and perhaps getting new backs for the earrings. I will probably consider it in the future but I couldn’t be troubled at the time today.
It’s $ 90 for your first item and the second item is $ 70 and I believe it gets considerably less per item as you add items. I’m sure I’ll be back if I need anything else appraised. Quick service, while you wait.
