Specialties
Overlook Collaborative Preschool is a Reggio Emilia inspired, vegan/vegetarian and eco-friendly school located in the Overlook neighborhood of North Portland.
Preschool provides the fundamentals for a desire to learn throughout the rest of life. With the Reggio philosophy we invite the children, teachers and parents to become co-learners and co-researchers investigating questions together. Research is supported by time for free play and exploration of the classroom, group meetings and class projects.
Some of our favorite activities include music, telling and reading stories, clay, dramatic play, building, painting, planting and gardening. Through play we learn and explore emergent reading, math concepts and science.

Meet the Business Owner
Erin S.
Business Owner
Erin’s interest in teaching and helping children grow goes back further than she can remember. She has been teaching since she was a teenager, with the majority of her time focused on preschool. Erin has been teaching in the Reggio style since 2005, and her passion for this approach to teaching motivated her to create her own preschool. Erin feels that the flow of education in the form of «play» speaks to her own style of learning, and has seen this echoed in the educational growth of children in the classroom.
Continuing education has always been a focus for Erin through her entire teaching career, including studying Early Childhood Education at Western Oregon University. She currently takes continuing education courses in Child Development offered by Multnomah County Childcare Resource and Referral, Mount Hood Community College and Portland Community College.
