Wow. This guy was amazing. I had a flat tire and he came to my house, took my tire, replaced it and brought it back and put it on all in about an hour. Spot on speedy service. Competitive prices as well. Hopefully no more flat tires in my future but if so, this is my guy.

I just had picked up a new seatbelt buckle for my 1993 Ford Explorer and, as it was 4pm on a Friday figured I would be stuck waiting until Monday to get it installed. On a whim, I stopped by Oregon Auto Service as it was on the way home since I had a great experience with them in the past. The head mechanic didn’t bat an eye when presented with the part, even though it would have been easy for him to tell me to come back on Monday. The poor guy wasn’t even dressed in his work clothing and had just had a root canal an hour before but he hopped into the back seat and began the repair. 25 minutes later it was installed. During that time, a couple people came in for quick problems and they also took care of them on the spot. When I asked how much I owed he told me to name a price and that it would be fine. Wow. I couldn’t be happier and am very grateful for their help!

Normally I would not write a negative review, but a lot of people have told me to share my experience so other people don’t have to go through anything similar. And that is why I’m writing this.
I wanted to like this shop and I wanted the mechanics there to be great. Its super close to my home and therefore very convenient. I have taken my car here for repairs at least 5 times. I’ve got a simple car to work on, an older 4 cylinder engine, nothing complicated. If all you need is a radiator hose replaced or something else super minor then go for it. However, do not take your car there for anything that requires digging in.
The guys there are very nice and act like they have an idea what they are talking about,. But they cut corners and don’t admit when they don’t have experience with something. For instance, my timing chain broke and I had a new one installed at Oregon Auto. This ‘repair’ ended up costing me a head gasket and countless hours spent by another mechanic scraping some kind of blue silicone crap off. They should have needed nothing but a stock gasket. In order to get back in there and set the timing correctly all of this blue gunk had to come off. The timing was set so poorly a head gasket blew (google it, this can and does happen with improperly set timing).The timing kit, comes with several new parts (such as a timing cover) which they didn’t even bother to install. They also elected to use cheaper parts when far better parts (like metal chain guide instead of plastic) would have only cost another buck or two. This goes for tune up parts as well which I also mistakenly had done there. Super poor plug wires, plugs and etc were installed and several other grommets/​bolts/​wire etc were either broken or left unattached. Coupled with everything else they ‘fixed’ I have ended up needing a complete engine rebuild.
For yet another prior repair I had my car in a total of 4 times, nothing complicated, but they couldn’t get it right even with repeated chances. I gave up on them and took the car to someone else that fixed the problem in 15 minutes. 15 minutes! They had my car for days at Oregon Auto.
I spent way too much paying this shop to ‘fix’ my car and instead got a destroyed engine. Now I’m out all the ‘we fixed it (not!) money PLUS the cost of a new engine and countless mechanic hours spent by another shop to undo pretty much everything they did at Oregon Auto.
I have one car and I am attached to it. Its important for me to have a good running car to be able to do my job correctly. I try to do right by my car on repairs with quality parts and like to form an alliance with one or two mechanics that I can really trust. Obviously I made a very poor choice taking my car to these guys, don’t make the same mistake yourself!
