My Wonderful Dog offers in home dog training in South Portland Maine and the Boston area. With over 15 years experience, Elsa combines knowledge with an affordable price. Owner, Elsa Larsen, utilizes a holistic approach to dog obedience. Taking into consideration your lifestyle and needs, her goal is to find an attainable training solution for you and your dog. So whether you are interested in some basic skills for your dog, or fresh ideas on how to approach a behavioral problem, Elsa can help. The age of the dog does not matter — with patience and perseverance all dogs can be trained. Group dog walking services are also available in Maine.

History

Established in 2000.

Elsa Larsen moved to Maine in June 2000, to start My Wonderful Dog, whose original mission was to train dogs to assist people with disabiltities. Eight years later, due to lack of funding, the non profit had to close it’s doors. Shortly after the demise of the non profit, Elsa decided to revive the business so she could continue to devote her energies and skills to training pet dogs and their owners. In Sept. 2009, Elsa started her «follow the leader» program which allows dogs the unique opportunity to romp and play off leash outdoors in their own «pack».

Elsa Larsen has been training dogs professionally since 1997, earning her Certified Pet Dog Trainer credentials from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers in 2008. Elsa has taught classes since 2000 in the greater Portland area. She continues to stay current on the latest teaching methods studying with some of today’s top dog trainers.
