The remarkable neurological precision of the Feldenkrais Method reduces or eliminates pain and joint constrictions. Additionally, many of Cynthia’s clients and students have found that working with her has been the catalyst for healing on the emotional level as well as the physical level. They credit Cynthia with setting strong foundational support from which they could heal deeply in both body and mind.

Who can benefit? Just about anyone willing to change old habits for more vital, pain free movement. This can be you!

History

Established in 2002.

Cynthia Birney’s work in the Feldenkrais (FEL den krice) Method® allows a remarkable muscular-skeletal reeducation that reduces or eliminates pain while creating a vibrant awareness of effective, pleasurable movement, sensing and thinking in our everyday lives. The method uses gentle, highly precise movement explorations to cultivate this awareness, evoking these beneficial changes by accessing and harnessing the extraordinary repatterning power of the human central nervous system. Cynthia’s skilled use of the method’s neurologically meaningful processes allows pain and stiffness to recede as optimal movement emerges and self awareness expands.

Cynthia Birney is a movement specialist with an extensive background in movement education. Her earliest passion, riding horses, led her to England in 1972 where she studied with Robert Hall, one of Britain’s Olympic equestrian coaches. Her years of teaching riding were exceptional preparation for a 4 year study of human movement and learning she undertook through a Feldenkrais Method® teacher training.

Since graduating in 2002, Cynthia has combined a deep appreciation of movement patterns with her understanding of how our experiences, our work and home environments, as well as our emotions can manifest in our bodies. Her practice has included helping people in chronic and acute pain, trauma survivors, individuals suffering from neurological impairments as well as with students simply wanting more fluidity in their bodies and peacefulness their lives.
