Dr Anthony and staff at Mountainside Family dental are the best! I’ve been to other dental offices and felt like I was being charged for every little thing they could get away with. not so at Mountainside. this is a small practice, with true professionals.
The ladies at the desk recognize me, and greet me by name, and Dr Anthony always takes time to talk about non dental things. He’s very professional and clear in describing treatment plans. Instead of pulling or drilling every little thing, he’ll give the hygienist note to watch the spot for any changes before drilling/​filling. The office is clean and well cared for, and it shows through with the staff.

I have multiple crowns, and one of them still had a live root under it. The other two have already had root canals. Of course, 3 days before christmas, that one starts to hurt. My previous dentist informed me to be very responsive if that tooth ever starts hurting as it may eventually need a root canal too. So, I spent Dec. 22^rd calling around, explaining that I knew exactly what the problem was and asking if their doctors were comfortable doing a root canal through an existing porcelain crown. After trying and trying (most were closed/​booked through the holiday) Mountainside said yes! So I made the evaluation appointment for the following day, Dec. 23^rd. and hoped they could schedule the root canal sometime before the first when my annual benefits reset. They called me back a few hours later and said an earlier appointment opened up, and asked if I would like to take it and do a cleaning before the evaluation as well. I figured why not, it got me there at 9am instead of 11am and I hoped they were planning to save the 11am appointment for me if I wanted to do the root canal same day. So I get there, they do complete xrays and the doctor comes in, tells me yep, definitely needs a root canal under that crown, but they don’t do that. I would have never gone there if they would have told me that– specifically why I called and asked before hand. I’m pretty non-​confrontational and at that point I was in a chair prepped for a cleaning and there was really no arguing the point. So, they give me a referral slip for the root canal and discuss two other fillings needing to be done, which they CAN do there. Suddenly she asked if I would like to call it a day halfway through my cleaning and reschedule next week after the holiday to do the remaining scaling and polishing on the teeth and the two filings. I thought it kind of odd, since I’ve never had someone stop halfway through a cleaning and ask me to come back. Mind you, we are at about 10 am now, but for some reason it felt like they were rushing me out. I went ahead and scheduled the remainder of the cleaning and filings for the following week assuming I could get a cost estimate from their referral by then. Ironically, the specialist they referred me to was out of town through the new year adding another entire weeks wait. So, I called to cancel as financially I needed to address the root canal first and foremost, and I didn’t know where I stood there until speaking with the specialist and insurance. When I called to explain and cancel she started to complain to me about cancelling. Literally, the lady on the phone got abrupt and started clicking her tongue in annoyance, etc. Every dentist I have EVER been to in my life has followed up a few days later, checked if I got a hold of a specialist, if I was still in pain, whatever. These guys– not a peep. If you’re curious, I did finally get a a hold of their referral and had my initial consultation January 6^th. Indeed, the root canal is still needed! He is such a popular guy though that the first available appointment to actually get it done was January 29^th, a full five weeks after this started. Don’t get me wrong, this clinic itself is nice and homey and these guys had great customer service… up until the point I used the world «Cancel» and «No». They still got a total paid claim of $ 303 from my insurance for a half cleaning, xrays and referral. But they did basically nothing to alleviate the entire reason I went to them and I still have a toothache for another three weeks to remind me of them. I understand it was two days before a holiday etc. but when I initially call and specifically ask if they were comfortable doing a root canal through a crown, they could have just said «No, sorry.» like the five other dentists I called before them did. Instead, they just wanted to get me in the door so they could do as little as possible and charge my insurance as much as possible afterward. If I had the funds to fly back to Texas and have the Dr. who placed the crown do the root canal, I totally would. But now, I just get to grin and bear it for another three weeks. I was also trying to get this done before the first of the year when my annual maximum reset. Now that it has moved into a new calendar year, this single root canal basically sucks out my entire maximum for the year within the first month. This is my first Unilocal review, but I figured someone out there ought to know the way my specific situation was handled and how sheisty it felt to me.

From the moment I walked in I knew that my experience was going to be pleasant. The warm greetings and welcoming front staff of Samar and her crew set the tone for my visit. As most people, feelings of anxiety arise at the idea of visiting the dentist. As I was met by Dr. El Youssef, all anxiety subsided. A gentle, down to earth Dr. with great knowledge for the field who added humor to help me forget where I was. I am actually looking forward to having my cavities filled during my next visit. You have gained a loyal client!

On October 14^th 2015 I had my 2^nd appointment with Dr. Anthony El Youssef and like my first experience everything went fantastic and it was very comfortable. Now if anyone knows me that’s really hard to say about the dentist. Dr. Anthony took the time to explain everything that I needed done. He also went into great detail on how to keep my teeth and gums healthy. Mountainside Family Dentistry has been the first Dentist office that I’ve felt comfortable as soon as I step foot through the door. I was greeted by a nice young lady at the front desk with a smile and everything from that point was just pleasant. I highly recommend Dr. Anthony El Youssef.

Dr. El Youssef and his staff are the utmost professionals at this practice! They make you feel extremely welcome and comfortable from the second you walk in to the second you leave. You can tell they care about their patients in all aspects of their business. Definitely a dental office for all ages. I would recommend them to anyone in the greater Portland area!

Worst dentist ever unless you have good insurance, if your on ohp they could care less. Went into the office and was treated like less then a person all bc my insurance. Front office girl is dumb and the dentist didn’t really listen to me or seem to care what my concerns were. I sat in the room for over 30 mins then to have some «Dr» come in for 2 mins and tell me nothing was wrong then when I went to schedule back they shoved me out 2 months right after I heard the girl schedule someone next week for the same thing. Apparently these pee don’t believe in equality only people with lucrative insurance plans they can suck off.

Dr. Anthony El Youssef is honestly the best dentist I’ve ever been to. Saying I’m terrified of the dentist is an under statement and he makes me feel so safe and comfortable. He always explains exactly what’s going on and let’s me know everything is okay! The team is awesome as well. All the girls are such sweethearts and are great at easing my mind! If your looking for a dentist I highly highly recommend him!

I have always delayed going to the dentist, but was way past due for a check up! I was referred to this clinic and was very nervous at the beginning. As I entered I was greeted warmly and was told to fill out information and I will be called soon. I then entered the dentist office and got started with the checkup. Overall the dentist made me feel very comfortable and his attitude was very positive, he was patient with me and made me feel very welcome and calm even though I was nervous. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for a great dentist, such great customer service and a warm, friendly environment. Keep up the great work!

I would definitely recommend Mountainside Family Dentistry, Dr. Anthony and his staff to anyone needing a dentist. When my family visits the dentist it is quite the event with two adults and two children under the age of six (plus a newborn that someone has to be watching at all times). However, the staff and doctors were very patient with us and didn’t rush us along or try to reschedule because we had gone over of our allotted time. They took their time and made sure my kids were comfortable with their treatments, even going as far as to allow his aunt to sit in the chair and hold my child while he was being worked on. Dr. Anthony answered all of my questions and didn’t pressure me into any unnecessary work as I have had others do in the past. I also appreciated him telling me that they would be working to make the office more comfortable and asking if I had any suggestions. We will be visiting them again as soon as needed!

This is by far the best dentist I have found, Dr anthony is completely honest about the care you need and the office staff is so friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival your greated by such friendly ladies that make understanding insurance easy. I was given a treatment plan before any work was started so i wasnt suprised by an additional charges like most dentists pop you with. I went in for a same day emergency and was seen right away and although dr ANthony couldn’t do a retreat of my root canal he helped me find a specialist that was able to see me the next day! I would highly recommend Mountainside family dentistry to anyone looking for a honest trustworthy dentist! Dr Anthony even called me the day after my root canal to make sure i was okay! Awesome dentist awesome care. And the folks here go above and beyond to make you feel right at home! A+

First off, let me say that I’m not a huge fan of dental offices, there’s so much to dislike! After moving to Oregon, I took 2 years before visiting a dental office. THIS dental office. I was warmly greeted and seated for my appointment. The waiting room was homely with magazines and a fireplace. I then had my Xrays taken, which then led to my teeth being checked. The last time that I had this done, all I heard from the dentist were numbers. This time, after getting them checked, the dentist, Dr. El Youssef took time to explain to me exactly what those numbers mean, he showed me my Xrays and explained to me what I was seeing, he answered all my questions. I’ve never had this from a dentist before, someone who cares that I understand my dental status and counseled me on simple things that I can do to improve my dental care (instead of my blind daily routines). I’ve been following my dental plan thus far and am definitely looking forward to my next dental visit! I’d definitely recommend this place to all those who really want to improve their dental health! I have been coming here for the past 2 years (so four visits) & my cleaning always went great. The hygienist I get does a through job everytime and did x-​rays twice when things look concerning. Im glad she took the initiative! It was all covered by my insurance. I wasn’t hassled. And my dentist is a nice guy. Straight forward and let me know what I needed to do to keep my mouth happy. He referred me to have my wisdom teeth pulled and the relief it gave me was awesome. I will continue to be a long term patient.
