Monticello Antique Marketplace

This is an awesome antique mall — they have a huge selection of really interesting things that turn over fast. We are always finding something new when we come here, and the prices are great. We’ll definitely be back!

Lots to look at! It’s nice they have a little café too so you can take a lil’ break if you want. Prices aren’t too bad either, defiantly coming back.

Fantastic place to spend an afternoon… I always unwind and feel good when I shop here. Go for the booth after booth of vintage and antiques. The vendors here are creative and really do a great job of displaying their wares. It’s vintage but not all «Granny Chic»…there’s plenty of fun (albeit used) merchandise for the creative in you to mix with newer pieces you may own and still feel fresh. Don’t overlook the space tucked in near the restrooms full of quality leftover estate sale items from the folks at Peerless Estate Sales.
Get lost in the vintage garden/​outdoor room – it’s a magical place full of crusty, rusty, chippy paint wonders. Even better when it’s dressed up and packed out for their special events!
Check out their book sections (one in the furniture space, and packed shelves in their café). Also the BIG space in the back room full of vintage and antique furniture is fun to explore.
BONUS — Monticello’s hosts annual special events for Spring, Fall and at Christmastime.
Pros:
*Everything I mentioned above.
*Good food in the café with outdoor seating and free wifi.
*Clean restrooms.
*Relaxing music appropriate for the style of venue (vintage).
Cons:
*Store staff (not café staff) we have encountered have never been too friendly. They’re not rude, just not that warm or engaging. Sure, I like to shop in peace and not be hovered on but a smile and hello would be nice, too.
*Parking can be tricky as their lot is very small; plenty on-​street but it’s busy so be careful, especially if you’ve got kiddos in tow.
*Transit nearby — check TriMet for routes and times.

Our favorite hobby is going to antique shops, and Monticello is been my favorite antique shop in Portland for a long time, I can always find something here, prices are always very reasonable, I love that they have the café inside, we always enjoy our time here.
The only reason that we’re not giving them five stars is because the staff is not always very nice, it depends who is working, but since we love the shop, we don’t care and we keep going, but customer service definitely matters alot for a business.

Let me preface my review by sharing that I moved from Southern California where I was spoiled rotten with flea markets and antique malls. Since having moved to Portland, I can honestly say the antique finds in Southern California were much more abundant. I am giving Monticello 5 stars since I am only taking into account other antique malls I’ve visited in the Portland metro area.
With that being said, Monticello is a true antique treat! The vendors update their stock several times a week. I was outfitting my shop with fixtures and frequented Monticello a couple times a week and would see turnover every time.
Prices seem very reasonable to me (again, compared to what I was paying back in CA). I’ve bought a few rustic/​primitive looking tables each one around $ 120-​$ 150 and a beautiful antique dining hutch for about $ 300. I’ve also purchased the odd dining room chair for $ 45-​$ 65 for my mix-​n-​match dining room.
I rarely leave empty handed since the booths in this antique mall are so varied and there are a lot of small things under $ 20 like vintage dishes, glassware, small framed art, and vintage linens.
There aren’t any vendors that focus primarily on vintage clothing or vintage jewelry. They’re peppered here and there, but I do wish there was more of it! This antique mall is mostly for décor furniture.
I find the furniture leans towards early 20^th century antiques, rustic/​primitive looking pieces, shabby chic, and industrial chic. Very rarely do I see anything mid-​century.
Parking has never been an issue. I always park in the neighborhood nearby and if I am purchasing something that I need help loading, the helpful staff is always happy to assist.

they have a lot of really neat things here, i think there is something to appeal to everyone. it’s one of those places that you can just spend a ton of time in, finding something new and interesting every time you turn around (and then spotting something else that you didn’t see before). there’s even a lil café in back where you can read and drink coffee. i’d absolutely recommend this place

This is a huge antique marketplace with so many different things to offer. It’s beautifully staged & decorated. You can’t help but be inspired! I was a little bummed that their blog/​web site said they were having an end of the season sale on the weekend that I visited but it turned out to be the weekend beforehand & someone forgot to update the dates on their site. Oh well, I still really enjoyed looking at all of the treasures. Each booth is individually operated & priced by the vendors. I noticed that some vendors were high priced and staff were not willing to deal on prices… which was a surprise to me. However, I found one vendor booth with fantastic merchandise & her prices were really fair. I purchased a vintage birdbath and it was exactly what I was looking for! So, you might have to spend a little time searching some for a good deal, it was worth it for me.

Unfortunately as wonderful and cool as this antique mall is… the management is callous and rude and shows little respect for the neighborhood that has supported it for so many years. When your bottom line becomes more important then respecting and honoring your patrons feelings and concerns no matter how unique and special you think you are your business is a failure.

Great variety and, for the most part, the prices you would expect… and probably be willing to pay. There are a variety of setups… from small ‘booths’ along the inside booth walls, to larger booths in rows, to the «Salvage Garden» which is a large back room full of all kinds of larger treasures!
I appreciate that they are kind of choosy about their stock. Items are clean and nicely presented. Easy to see and access.
I have my eye on a hutch… but need to decide soon. My guess is that things move fairly quickly there.
Already texted my sister to make plans for an antiquing day in PDX!

If you love antiques, old books and coffee, This will be your one stop shop. Very cute and oh their drinks are delicious:)

My roomies and I love coming here for a special coffee or Chai (iced or not). If we happen to have to time to kill we’ll browse the antiques. we LOVE the setup. They have it set up like little rooms and it’s almost certain you’ll find something interesting or at least get some inspiration.

Wow, what an amazing place this is, I could have spent hours upon hours in there and that may not be enough time.
But the upside, if you are into photography like I am, they’re great about letting you snap away till your hearts content!
The only down side is the staff is virtually nowhere to be found when you need them.

They had loads of great stuff! Lots of cute shabby chic furniture. I, however was unimpressed with the pricing. When I came across a rusty soap dish for $ 22 I was out. I did a lot of scoffing at how expensive things were. Their outside area had some great tables that really only needed some sanding and a fresh coat of paint — but they were asking ridiculous prices, all at least $ 120 for pieces that would wit maybe 3 people. Maybe I’m just out of touch with how much vintage furniture goes for. I wouldn’t come back unless I wanted to pay an arm and leg.

Monticello is one of my Mom’s favorite antique shops, in December she brought me in for the first time. First we had lunch in a cute little café inside of the side entry, while the service was pleasant, the food was not very good.
The mall itself is very large with a huge amount of vendors (I would guess 50 or more). It was fun to see what they had near Christmastime. I snagged some cute vintage Christmas
it is with many antique stores, many items are not truly antiques, some are reproductions, some are clothing items from The Gap (seriously). Overall the whole place was not too crowded with items and generally well curated. It took us a solid 2 hours after lunch to get through the whole place. I will return.

I have long been a regular to this antique mall! They all pretty much know who I am when I show up to shop! Love all the clerks, LOVE the merchandise and have found wonderful things for my rustic home! The shows they put on are fabulous!!! Especially Christmas!
There is a nice little restaurant called Montys inside which makes great sandwiches and desserts and coffees! They offer free wifi too! T
The antique mall is HUGE! If you can’t find something here I would find it absolutely hard to believe! Prices are good and honestly not over the top!

This is my new favorite store. I can (and have) spent hours here. So many amazing treasures. There is a great variety, and I always find something that I just can’t live without.
It’s a little on the spendy side, but worth it.

I’m a home owner with a yard, and I come here sometimes. for my yard and garden bling. so many cool ideas and projects inside, its easy to spend boat loads of cash here. There are your typical antiques, doo-​dads, and whatchmacallits, here too. Fun place to go. Free popcorn, so this could be a cheap date for young hipsters.

I rarely make it to Monticello, mainly because it’s out of the way for me, but when I go, I don’t find much, but what I do find is always a mega score!
Monticello is very well laid out, the dealers keep their spaces well maintained and fabulous looking. Most of the employees are nice, a few are a little rough around the edges, but working at an antique mall can run you ragged. They have an excellent system for opening cases since they have designated employees for such duties and someone is always at the counter.
With regards to the merch, I don’t care for most of it, it’s all a little too shabby chic for my tastes, but there is always a wonderful jewelry selection and rarely a piece of vintage clothing or two. The place is pretty wonderful during the holidays! So many dealers put out stellar vintage Christmas items for sale.
I cannot comment on the café as I have not been there.

Scored big time here! You seriously have to have lots of time as you head down the trail for exploring. It’s a huge place and it’s of course exploding in fullness of stuff. There are doll heads, and aprons from long ago, as well as costume jewelry, antique jewelry, furnishings, garden décor. This is one of those marketplaces where people rent a space to sell their goodies.
I found myself some costume jewelry and at a good price. I was also able to get in there and look at the items instead of having to ask someone to open up a locked glass case. I also found a big watch, and still at a decent price! I did see an older pocketwatch, but it was in a case. Sure enough, when I asked to see it, the price was what kept it locked up.
It’s a timeless wonder of eras and make sure you actually can pass some time here to enjoy it.
