Minott’s Flowers

Let me start by saying that Minott’s has a beautiful storefront in the Old Port and my older sister spent several thousand dollars here for her bridal arrangements a couple of years ago. Now that I am engaged, I felt it was time to start looking for a florist and naturally came here first because i figured that if my sister liked them I could try them, too.
I had a walk in appt with a bridal consultant there, Melissa, in January. She was more than pleasant and we spent about 45 minutes putting together centerpieces. She took notes and gave me her email and info to look through. A few days later I emailed her with very detailed instructions for what types of flowers and how many of everything I would need, etc. I wanted to get a quote and be able to put a deposit down to book my date with them. After a week, I emailed again with no response. 2 weeks later I still had heard nothing and called several times — either getting an incompetant employee or no answer at all. I called Melissa on her cell phone. I emailed a third time. Another 10 days after that I received a call from her on my cell phone while I was trying on bridal gowns so I asked if i could call her back in an hour. She said yes and when I called her back, she had no recollection of meeting me, my desires, my requests, my wedding date, what flowers I wanted, had not received any messages I left via phone or email… I was taken aback because we had spent nearly an hour chatting about the wedding and bouquets. She said she would look up my file and get back to me the following day. That was in mid February and it is now March 30 and I have not heard a peep from them.
That said, I have gone to 3 – 4 other florists for quotes and am sorry that Minott’s was so incapable; they are going to be losing out on a lot of money.
The lack of respect and service given to the customer at Minott’s is completely unacceptable. Don’t be fooled by their nice store and loads of in stock flowers and ‘can-​do’ attitude. In reality, the employees here are a bunch of poorly managed and disorganized schmucks who can’t tell their right from their left.

I had a disappointing experience with Minott’s. They could not have possibly screwed up an order more had they tried. Not only did they have backward the address information — they called my friend to ask how to deliver flowers to ME; they misspelled multiple things on the greeting card, and when I saw the flowers, they were not what I had asked for and were missing the key flower I had requested. I am not sure, had my friend not notified me someone was trying to deliver flowers, they would have ever sent the flowers at all. Furthermore, I had authorized a $ 50 arrangement plus delivery and was charged over $ 70. I called to complain and the manager was respectful and apologetic; I am waiting on a full refund that has not yet occurred.

I love supporting local biz so this review is a bummer to write. I am very very disappointed with my recent gift buying experience at Minott’s and would encourage anyone who needs flowers in Portland to go elsewhere.
My boyfriend and I live out of state so we went to Minott’s website to have some nice plants sent to our moms for Mother’s Day. We chose what looked to be some cute little plants in pretty vases.
After placing our order, I received a message saying that the plants we chose were out of stock and a substitution was needed. Understanding, I called back and was told by the staff member who took my call that no, they were not out of stock and my order would be delivered the following day.
The next day, I received ANOTHER message stating that the plants were unavailable. I called back and the shop was closed. I was really nervous since it was the day before Mother’s Day so I left a message saying a reasonable substitution was fine and the priority was on time delivery.
So… on Mother’s Day, my boyfriend and I each received calls from our Moms thanking us for the plants and massages. The problem was… we didn’t send them massage gift certificates! Minott’s attached a promotional COUPON for a massage with our GIFTS! How tacky is that??? Not only that, our mom’s sent us pictures of the plants they received and they were straggly looking and in clay pots not the vases we picked out! There was no identification tag for the plants or care instructions.
To top it off, when we called to express our frustration that our mom’s received ugly gifts and promotions for Mother’s day, the owner was really rude and unapologetic.
Save yourself the hassle and get your mom something nice at a more customer friendly business.

If I could go lower then 1 start you would know it… I recently placed an order online and after it was shipped late and with the wrong flowers I thought it was bad enough; right? WRONG I called to see what kind replacement flowers could be sent to my mother after she received an UGLY plant that the owner sent without permission and said «either you love them or hate them!» WHO BUYS FLOWERS THEY HATE? On top of that she was RUDE and disrespectful to her customers over the phone! I would hate to have to walk in there and I would hate to have you waste your time as well. Call 1800 FLOWERS or Vose Smith because this place is terrible!!!
OH YEAH WITH EVERY DELIVERY ORDER THEY SEND COUPONS TO PAY FOR A MASSAGE??? MY MOTHER RECEIVED A COUPON FOR MOTHERS DAY!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

What a wonderful experience! I browsed online and picked out some flowers for a good friend who is a new first time Mom. She called me about a week later to thank me — the flowers were still gorgeous. Super fast service, great product, I will definitely use them again!

When purchasing from Minott’s Flowers’ online store, don’t be surprised if something other than what you ordered is delivered instead. I don’t live in Maine so I had to use their online services and when something else was sent instead of what I thought I had paid for, I called with hopes of having their mistake corrected. Well the owner informed me that the mistake was mine, because I didn’t read their disclaimer on their website that says that they are able to subtitute something else without letting you know about the change. When this happens to you, forget about calling to have this corrected unless you want to hear «we appreciate your business, but we have a disclaimer on our website that you overlooked.»

Meh… I recently used Minott’s as the florist for my wedding. After paying a significant amount of money for red and orange dahlias, dahlias, dahlias. What I recieved were a variety of lillies, roses, gerbera daisies and a very small smattering of dahlias in shades of pink, yellow, peach, red and orange. I was very specific and recieved an estimate reflecting my requests which included words like «lush» and «vibrant». However, on my wedding day, while the flowers were lovely… they were not at all what we had discussed with the florist, not to mention… a bit sparse. (We had huge round tables of 10 place settings and the centerpieces were tiny). Ah well, nothing could have truly ruined this perfect day, but just a heads up to all brides looking for a florist… I would look elsewhere.
06÷30÷09− This is how our issue was «resolved», after multiple phone discussions with Minott’s, we recieved a fair re-​imbursement from the company regarding our issues. This included an additional phonecall to remind Minott’s to send us the $ we agreed upon. As a side note, all employees at Minott’s were cordial in all of our discussions. I feel that my review was fair.
