TERRIBLE customer service. They acted SO put out when you ask them to do something that would require a little extra work or to actually do something more than take your money. Bad attitudes. Definitely somewhere I would never look forward to going to.

I was in a bit of a mental overload planning a wedding in just 2 weeks and I went to Michaels to buy a few items. Sarah was fantastic!!! She went all around the store helping me and had great feedback and ideas! I left the store just a little less stressed and just wanted to say thanks!

Seriously? I went there to get 6 small pieces of glass cut, 6“x 6″…after much calculatoring and ciphering the price was… wait for it…$ 93.00. I said 6INCHES not feet. «Well that will be three pieces of glass, two panes per piece and 30.00 per sheet.» Well this will be me… walking out the door and going to my local Pearl Ace Hardware where those 6 piece cost… again, wait for it…$ 8.75. End of story.

GREATPRODUCTSELECTION, BEAUTIFULANDCLEANINSIDEEASYACCESS. But oops this is where the good ends. A total of 2 people were on duty. Nobody on the floor to help. All this great stuff nobody around to answer questions. Essential in a crafts store unless you want to spend 2 hours meandering and figuring things out for yourself. Very weird checkout area. Had to follow a maze to get to one of the registers. MEMOTOMICHAELSCUSTOMERSERVICEMATTERSNOMATTERHOWGOODYOURPRODUCTIS. Business 101

With a store that has 20 million items and no one wants to talk to you or help you because they have millions of things to do. It makes it hard for customers. Grrrrrr.

What’s with all you haters? Honestly, I think your inner hipster is getting the best of you. Yes, this is a chain, and yes, it’s in Jantzen Beach. But they have mostly anything and everything you need for almost any project. They are not the cheapest place in the world. But they are the cheapest place around, and they are far cheaper than the beadworks and other boutique stores — whom I adore, but seriously… If I paid their prices all the time, I couldn’t even afford to be creative! They are picky about their coupons — downright nazi-ish. Make sure you have the right coupon of the right date. But when you have to have that one thing to finish your project — you’ll find it here. I asked one staff member for help today, she was nice but didnt try all that hard. While perusing the jewelry section, I saw an associate busting her ass for some customers… that was cool. Bead gallery beads were 40% off today plus I had a coupon for 15% off that!!! Psych!

It’s alright, the staff isn’t very helpful but they’re quite friendly at least. They’re stuck all the way back of the complex so they’re easy to miss. At least they have more parking then they will every use in a thousand years.

Consistently do NOT have enough cashiers — lines up the wazoo and wait time is too long. Last time I was there I watched a manager tell a customer she«couldn’t help her» when she asked the price of an item(which I believe was marked with the original price but the percentage of discount was in question). There was one poor little gal checking(and obviously trying to get through people as quickly as possible with a line of 5 – 6 people) and the manager was just walking around doing various tasks. That was it for staff that I could see. I couldn’t believe it. Get on another register, yo. If your register system doesn’t allow you to price check something(or for the love of Pete, scan it and void it) then your system is not a good one. I’m still just stunned that the manager said, «No, I can’t help you with that» to the customer and then didn’t even bother to open another register. Wowsers, Michaels.

It’s all great, just a couple«oopsies» plenty of staff walking around… I felt like I was being watched in every aisle I went to like I was a thief but never once was I questioned if I need help because yes I did need help it was more so of me having to ask them«can I help you» haha it was a joke in side there. I finally asked for assistance on a frame. Check out was extremely slow when I was only buying two things they had a line and one clerk kinda disappointed. Great stuff inside te store!

BEWARE! Michael’s does NOT accept returns on items that have been opened. They do accept returns on things«in their original packaging» — what this means is that if you are like me and you bought a picture frame that was purported to fit your picture, and then you took it home to put your picture in the frame and found out that the dimensions of your picture are a scoosh too large, that you cannot return the frame. What ever happened to trying to «the customer is always right?» or working for someone’s business? Not there. However, the guy behind the framing counter, was super helpful and considerate.

Michaels is an arts and craf… scratch that Michaels is a craft focused Wal-Mart? Naaaah Michaels sells… stuff Some of it is even arty There we go! What I bought there: Dried flowers(6 bunches, about $ 25) fake fruit(3 pieces, $ 11) a diet coke(12 oz, $ 1.00) a single candle to match the one I broke.($ 2.00) The reason I struggled so much with how to classify Michaels is that is is too big for a arts crafts style store — at least the ones I’m used to, and yet dosn’t have the selection of a true large capacity type volume retailer. For example, they did not have pussy willows(a favorite dried flower). So what you end up with is a TJ Max style craft focused retailer. This is a good — nay a great place to come when you want to put some finishing touches on a home, and you don’t want to pay Pier 1 type prices. Vases, baskets, ribbon, candles, simple garden, and small metal kitchy stuff can all be found here. The downside is that it is a low end retailer for help, clientele, and for some quality of goods. For things like ribbon, or a tea lights — who cares? But if you needed a specialty item well — Caveat Emptor.
