History

Established in 2015.

My experience in the bankruptcy field goes back to 2005 as an intern at the Bankruptcy Court in Seattle, Washington. From 2006 – 2008 I was privileged to be a law clerk for The Honorable Leslie Tchaikovsky, Bankruptcy Judge (ret.) in Oakland, California.

In 2008 I saw many people in need of quality assistance, I knew that I could make a difference as a consumer attorney. From 2008 through 2014 I represented consumers and small business owners in Oregon and Western Washington in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. During that time I managed one of the largest Chapter 13 practices in Oregon assisting people facing a wide variety of challenges.

My goal in opening Mertens Law, LLC, is to truly help clients with issues I saw regularly going unaddressed.

In 2015 I put my dreams into action after training with nationally recognized attorneys I am excited to offer comprehensive strategic representations to my clients no matter the financial challenges they face.

Business Owner

I graduated in 2006 from the University of Washington School of Law with High Honors. I also have a degree in math and statistics (cum laude) from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN (minor in interpersonal communication).

I am an attorney of over nine years in the area of bankruptcy and consumer financial matters. I trained with nationally recognized attorneys in the fields of student loans, suing debt collectors for automated dialing and abuse, credit reporting, and mortgage litigation.

This is my passion — helping consumers and small business owners with quality legal representation.

My goal is to not only help you overcome your challenges, but to pursue relief you are entitled to, and put you on track to achieve your goals. I will always communicate your options and strategies clearly and honestly.

In addition to my practice, I enjoy hiking with my dog, Charlie, spending time with friends and family, attending live music, and cheering on the Blazers, Seahawks, and Mariners.
