Lulu’s Vintage

THE nicest girl owns this shop.
I came to Portland for 3 things… beer, vegan food, and vintage.
I was given a map to all the good vintage places to shop and had a nice chat with the owner.
Bought some cute little cloth napkins and was on to my next adventure!

I love the way this store is curated– it’s organized, beautiful and every single thing inside is something I want, incredibly «wearable» AND reasonably priced. The owner is as sweet as all get out and always such a pleasure to deal with.

I love this little shop! It’s not very big, but has a good variety of different kinds of things from dresses and coats to some housewares, without feeling overstuffed. Nice selection of jewelry, hats, and fancy purses for parties. And very colorful too, which is hard for vintage stuff (I find a lot of vintage shops to be pretty much all navy or black or other neutral colors). Owner is also really nice and clearly cares about the quality of her items.

I’m not sure that I walked into the same place that these other five-​star-​giving ladies did. Honestly I was disappointed by the offerings.
Of course it takes time to hut down authentic high-​quality vintage items, and the owner has done her homework. Still, I didn’t see anything terribly wearable… or anything that warranted the high prices. Oh well. I’m sure that the retail rent is sky high in these parts…

Lulu’s vintage was the highlight of this particular trip to Portland.
It is rare that a vintage shop exceeds my daydreams of vintage findings but Lulu’s quickly exceeded expectations. The goodies are aged to perfection. The stock is excitingly unique and obviously hand selected by buyer who cares about quality. The store remains fresh even with a location that must draw in more than the occasional gawking Seattleite.
My purchase that day was small, a single pear scented bar of soap, but the experience was exquisite. As a long time fan of Lulu’s blog (check out the second tab on the website link!), I was delighted not just to stumble unknowingly into the store but also to find that it exceeded my wildest expectations.
Lulu’s is simply a required stop for those seeking vintage magic.

My sisters and I wandered into this shop while they were visiting Portland. Upon hearing that they were from out of town the sales person handed us a map of vintage shops in Portland and directed us towards some of her favorites. The store has quite a bit of artwork from local artists that are all rather unique, and very reasonably priced. We were able to buy a couple smaller prints from local artist Shannon Buck for only $ 5 each. The store was very clean and had a great selection of vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories. You could tell that each item was carefully handpicked and deserved a spot in the rather small store. We really appreciated their kind demeanor and great customer service. Definitely worth checking out, there are some treasures inside.

I saw this store (kitty corner from Powells Books) while in Portland and so glad i stopped in !! It is so cute, well organized and affordable. The owner, Lulu is friendly and knowlegeable. knows and loves her Vintage !!
Go go go to Lulus and find a treasure or two or three.

The clothes are in excellent condition and well-​chosen, they drape and flatter the body beautifully. The garments, hats, and purses are truly one-​of-​a-​kind.
I walked out with a treasure (more accurately, I wore it out the door) and less than five minutes later in another clothing shop I overheard someone whispering to a friend, «I want a top like HERS!» I turned and sure enough, they were looking at me. I beamed and said, «I got it at Lulu’s Vintage!» as both of them continued to gush.
As any fellow vintage lover knows, we love those moments.
My best advice is be sure to talk to Lulu. She is amazingly sweet and helpful, and when she asks how you are and where you’re from, she is really interested in the answer. Sounds like a small thing, but it means a lot. She encourages you to try on clothes (although I rarely need encouragement), and at one point three customers were wearing these vintage treasures as we shopped. She is also a teasure trove of information about everything vintage, and writes a successful blog on the subject.
I have spent many hours in many vintage stores in Portland but Lulu’s is by far the best one.
