Lisac’s Fireplaces & Stoves

I saw a commercial on TV for these guys, and decided with all of the other negative experiences we’ve had trying to get a gas or wood stove installed, we’d give these folks a shot.
Since we’ve been looking, we’ve experienced either poor customer service, or severely long wait times for callbacks, and information. I’m not sure why in Portland it is so difficult to find a company that will sell and install a wood or gas stove, especially, when in some cases you’re spending nearly $ 4,000, as we are.
Anyways, we walked into the location at around 10:15 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and we were greeted within a minute by a sales rep. He was very informative, and helped us pick out a gas stove. One of their recommended contractors, Dan, was extremely helpful, as well, in terms of pointing us to gas vs. wood, and verifying that Lisac’s was a reputable company.
All in all, I can say it was pleasant working with Lisac’s in the midst of many other unpleasant experiences.
I’d recommend them to a friend, for sure.

We bought an expensive, double sided fireplace which is beautiful, and because we were doing a complete remodel opted to have our contractor install the fireplace. About six month after installing it, we called Lisac’s because we had some minor questions. We called several times, only to be told they were really busy and someone would call us back. We finally talked to someone who told us because we had a contractor install the unit they couldn’t help us. I was surprised by their lack of willingness to help since we had disclosed the fact that we were having our contractor install the unit when we bought it and they said that was not a problem. We love the fireplace unit we bought from them but customer service and support after the purchase was completely lacking. Didn’t inspire any loyalty from this buyer.

I’m surprised about the negative reviews, although I didn’t have a lot of work done. I called Lisac’s to get an oddly-​sized valve gas cover replaced. Andy was great and very responsive! When he found out that the aluminum cover couldn’t be replaced, he tried to get it replated for me. When we found out that it couldn’t be replated because it’s aluminum, he had it painted and it looks great! Andy probably called me at least 4 times to give me updates throughout the process. Also, they didn’t charge me a dime for the painting! Great service!

Both Milwaukie and Airport way locations might benefit from a lesson in manners. After calling several times to try and schedule repair and being put off for the «scheduling manager.» Still no call back, I won’t be back.

This place has a lot of fireplaces and stoves; it’s an older building with lots of character. The owners (Rudy and Paul?) are very knowledgeable, and very down-​to-​earth; they helped me figure out what I needed, and kindly educated me concerning some pre-​conceived notions I had about stoves. They showed me a lot of different lines, and helped me figure out what was best for me! I’ll definitely be back.

DON’T BUY A STOVE FROM THESE GUYS! We recently purchased a refurbished gas fireplace from Lisac’s. It wouldn’t even heat the small front room in the house. It was supposed to heat approximately 950 sq. ft. The owner Paul refused to take the stove back and claimed it was working fine. There are lots of other stove places around. I suggest you use one of them for your heating needs.

We vote each and every day with our pocketbooks. Something to keep in mind on this election day. Every four years our «vote» seems monumental and yet the actual results at the larger level are to a great extent out of our control.
Therefore, I take great comfort in knowing that in my retail life, I can research the issues, compare the candidates, document what I’m promised, ensure they actually deliver on those promises and provide pretty direct feedback. Similar to my political views, I’m not particularly beholden to a particular party. Sure, an endorsement from a friend (real or Yeep) or a relative will move something higher on my list, but ultimately the choice is mine. After all, my requirements and desires may not be the same as yours. Just as I don’t vote the same way I did when I was an 18-​year old single girl with no plans and few responsibilities.
The current project du jour in the K household is a new fireplace. And, as is the case with every project, I’m particular and have «special needs.»
The «lightbulb moment» when I decided what I want, what I really, really want, was at the 2012 Street of Dreams. It is a showcase of the best and brightest of interior design and household goods. Mr. K refuses to go with me and every year probably dreads my return with grand plans and ambitions for the homestead.
If there is something I particularly like, I make note of the vendor. Lisac’s provided many of the fireplaces and also had the endorsement of a friend who recently upgraded their fireplace. Now, this friend said they preferred the Airport location, but I thought I’d try this store that is closer to my home. Besides, how much difference could there be?
The low rating is very specific to this location, which ended being a disappointment on many levels. Customer service (this relates to the time waiting to be assisted as well as the assistance or lack thereof provided) was poor. This location is relatively small, the products are traditional, with very little of the new and innovative that they excelled at displaying at the show. It essentially took 45 minutes to tell us you should really go to the other location, but not on a weekend, because they are busy.
Lisac’s is probably the best source for what we want, so I’ll eventually give them another try. But, just like politicians within a particular party can vary widely and have their own interpretation of the party line, not all retail locations are created equal. This location does not get my vote.

I called them after missing last year’s boat: one of my condo neighbors rallied five other owners to get a special deal bringing the individual cost way down. This year it wasn’t as GREAT a deal but certainly better than other local fireplace service companies.
Andy worked with me as I lined up two other people in our building. Not only was the work done quickly and to our satisfaction (we already had the positive reviews from our five neighbors), but I got a clear tutorial from Adrian on how to work the previously mysterious controls.
Good job! We’ll be sure to have them out again in a couple of years!
