Specialties

Since 1948 Lansing Linoleum Co., Inc. has provided material and installation of floor coverings in the Portland-Metro area. Our reputation for training and expertise in the specification and installation of resilient sheet floorings, vinyl tiles, laminate floors and ceramic tile for both the residential and commercial market is excellent.

Our work with Marmoleum, the original sheet flooring developed in the 1800’s, is well known and respected in the Portland remodeling community.

Given the depth of our knowledge, we also make a great source for technical support when you would like to select and install your own flooring.

Our showroom features samples of Forbo Marmoleum, Armstrong Marmorette and Johnsonite Harmonium fx. Sheet vinyls include Armstrong, Congoleum, Tarkett and Mannington. We provide countertops in granite and man-made quartz products as well as laminate. Custom laminate (Formica-type products) is also available.

Come in and see us to talk about your next project.

History

Established in 1948.

Sargent Glenn Lansing settled in Portland when he left the Army after WWII. During the occupation in Japan he was a construction foreman in charge of re-buiding efforts by his unit. On the strength of his military training, Glenn began work with Black Frost Floor Covering as a dispatcher for the crews. His brother Mick was a floor mechanic and trained him in installation.

He began doing his own jobs nights and weekends, and the post-war boom soon brought enough business to open his own shop. He began in a store near 122 and SE Stark, but moved to the present Lansing location about 1950.

Glenn was company president and chief estimator until his death in 1982 at the age of 55. Since then, the store has been managed by daughter, Kathleen Lansing with son Don Lansing in estimating full time until last year when he scaled back to two days per week.

Mark Urell, also a retired Army NCO, joined the company in 1990 and is now the primary estimator and company president.
