Great portion sizes and very cheap. My friend and I come here once a week for lunch and have never been disappointed in the food or the service.

3 of us went to eat lunch here and only spent $ 30. And we ate. A lot. The shrimp with asparagus was really tasty. Got to go boxes and were given a whole box of free rice and soup to go. The lady is so nice! Great customer service!

3.5 stars really… For inexpensive Chinese food this is pretty good. Large portions and taste is what you expect from Chinese food. That being said the quality is a little low, but then again you get what you pay for! This is a great take out and rent a movie type food. The lady who works the front was super nice though.

The people that work here are very nice. However, I do not like the food. Its the type of Chinese food that is cheap food with huge portions. I have a friend that loves the food, but I think he just likes it because of the huge portions. If you want good Chinese food go to Hunan Pearl. It will cost more money but its well worth it.

I walked into Kuang’s expecting a decent lunch special, and I was quite surprised at what I received! For $ 6.50, I got a generous portion of Szechuan beef(more than I could eat), pork fried rice, a full pot of tea, and my choice of soup. The quality of the egg flower soup really surprised me! And having a pot of tea made this the perfect spot to relax and recover after a long morning and a long week. Thank you, Kuang’s Kitchen!

Personally, I don’t tend to frequent any szechuan food fare often, so take this review with a grain of salt since I am not necessarily a connoisseur. This place is good. Relatively typical menu, with a variety of choices, and a staff that seems to genuinely care. For take-out there always tends to be a line. So plan for a little bit of a wait or call ahead! Depending on time of day, parking can be a bit crowded since the lot is small and there are other establishments there. I’ve never had an issue getting a spot, but at least once, it was the last spot available at that moment.

Quick and friendly! Stop right after class for a quick meal before my next class started. Very convenient location and good price for the proportion they offer. Will definitely be back for more, and bring some friends.

This was the BLANDEST Chinese food I have ever eaten. When my boyfriend had to salt his curry beef and I had to drown my lo mein in soy sauce to actually taste anything, that should’ve tipped us off to not bothering to eat. The fried rice was still white, so obviously no sauce was added. Also bland. I can make better at home! I’m happy that we didn’t have to pay a lot for our meal… I would’ve refused!

This place has ok chinese food with huge portions at a very reasonable price. Incredibly friendly service! It seemed like most folks get their food to-go. When we went we were the only ones dining in. We still got great service even with a stream of folks coming in for their takeaway food. A-OK.

Good food, huge portions, reasonable prices, quick and friendly service. We normally don’t seek out Chinese food, but I was telling my wife a couple weeks ago about my childhood and always going out to a Chinese restaurant on New Year’s Day. She loved the idea and wanted to continue the«tradition,» so I did a search on Unilocal, which yielded Kuang’s as a result. She got a chicken stir fry dish and I got Kung Pao tofu. We both found our choices tasty. I thought some of the reviews might be exaggerating about the portions, but they are not – we ate our meal and had enough left over for 3 additional meals, no joke. Add to that the reasonable prices and friendly service, and we now have another regular stop in our local«rotation.»

If you are looking for humongous portions of solid good Amer-Chinese food, this is your place. Seriously, 1 entrée serves 2 – 3 or more. They use a lot of fresh ginger and garlic, which was a nice surprise. The owners are delightful! They make you feel like you are a guest in their home. More than most restaurants of any caliber! I liked the Gen Tso’s chicken and the orange chicken. Albeit, heavy. We also tried a Mongolian beef dish which was good and had tender beef and not a heavy battered or sauced meal like the others. Pork fried rice was generous with pork, egg and veges. It was a tad dry, but tasty! Great flavors not unlike like East Coast Chinese food. Great bang for your buck and they are always busy with take out and eat in. There is good reason for it. You can feed an army for a pittance.

Kuang’s Kitchen is highly rated in Unilocal among Chinese restaurants in Portland, so we wanted to try them out. They’re located in a small strip of other businesses including a 7-Eleven store and another restaurant. We got there a little bit before five o’clock and saw several people waiting for their to-go orders. The lady at the front counter was busy helping all those waiting customers but gave us a friendly greeting and told us to have a seat wherever we wanted since there was nobody else eating in the dining room. When she was able to get away from the counter, she brought water, tea, and menus, and chatted with us. She was constantly busy answering the phone and helping customers who walked in for to-go orders, while also waiting on us.. .but she was always very friendly and efficient. We ordered Chicken with Black Bean Sauce and Ten Ingredient Chow Mein, which is soft noodles stir fried with beef, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. The Chicken with Black Bean Sauce didn’t come out as I had expected. The sauce was a reddish color, had a somewhat tangy taste, but did have Chinese black beans in it. Although it wasn’t exactly how black bean sauce usually tastes, it was still flavorful in a different way and I still liked it.(From the color and the taste, I would have thought that it was Chicken with Tangy Sauce.. .with some black beans tossed in.) Ten Ingredient Chow Mein could have used some more vegetables, and the beef in it was a bit chewy, but it was very flavorful also. The portions of both entrees were absolutely huge. There was plenty to take home. Overall, there were some minor things that made them fall a little short of my expectations, but the friendly service, reasonable price, and gigantic portions made up for it.

We saw this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We actually live pretty close to another Chinese restaurant but neither one of us enjoys going there for various reasons. Kuang’s Kitchen has the friendliest staff, delicious food, great value. We absolutely loved this restaurant and look forward to going back. We ordered the Sesame Chicken, General Tso’s Chicken, and an order of pot stickers. Both dinners came with rice and they even gave us a small order of hot and sour soup. There was so much food that we both had more than enough for lunch the next day.

This place was a little diamond in the rough. I wasn’t expecting too much, but it really surprised me. The people were really nice, and the service was great. It does totally help that when we went in we were the only people there, but still. And the food was amazing!!! The General Tso’s chicken was the best I’ve ever had; the breading was crisp but the chicken was perfectly moist and the glaze was candied on. Also, the proportions were insane, I got a whole plate of rice, chow mien, and an egg roll plus I got a whole plate of chicken, it was insane. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Let’s get something straight about this place. If you’re coming here expecting super authentic Szechuan food, the kind you will pay $ 20+ per plate for at a fancy restaurant, then just move along. What you will get here, is huge portions, delicious food, and excellent service. I read the reviews about them having large portions but was skeptical. I ordered the dinner meal which came to the tune of about $ 10. Imagine my surprise when this huge plate of food comes out, along with two smaller plates… not to mention the soup I had previously that also came with the meal. Needless to say I had to get a to-go box. The quality of the food is really nice especially if you’re comparing it to a typical place or an all you can eat buffet. However I’ve got to say that the General Tso’s was some of the best I’ve ever had. It wasn’t very spicy, but you may have to specify if you want it hot. Regardless it was crispy and juicy, and was quite pleasing to eat. The service here was truly wonderful. The lady that took our order took a bit to get to us, because it was just her and they had tons of take out orders going out, but we waited patiently and about 10 mins later we got the order in. After the order was placed, the food arrived pretty quickly. She was very friendly and helpful, and even helped place our leftovers in the to-go boxes for us. I will definitely be coming back again with my family and friends.

Kuang’s kitchen is THEBEST. I’ve had Chinese food far and wide, and have lived in China for several years. The redeeming qualities for this restaurant isn’t its«authentic food» or quality. That being said, for its price Kuang’s cannot be trumped. The portions are HUGE. One dish for $ 6.95 can easily feed two. Complimentary soup and egg rolls/bbq pork slices with every lunch. Hot tea for every customer. Expedient takeout if you order ahead. The lady that runs the place(who is often the waiter) genuinely cares about her customers, and will regularly dish out soup on the house. Everyone there is incredibly friendly. If you want value Chinese dining Kuang’s is the place to go!

KUUAAANNGG’S! This is my new Chinese joint, seeing as how it’s walking(not wokking) distance, and I prefer to pronounce it like Kirk hollered Khan. Funnyness aside, it’s a great American-style Chinese joint! Huge portions, very affordable prices, and friendly owners. I love it — especially the kung pao chicken and the dry sautéed green beans. If you’re hungry, perhaps a little low on dough, and wanting a tasty Chinese food fix, look no further than KUUAAANNGG’S!

I am still searching for a great neighborhood Chinese restaurant. This one is getting close, but still not quite there. Definitely Chinese-American style here. We’ve been twice now. First time we ate there and enjoyed the friendly service. They were pretty fast too. Second time I got take out. I called my order in and it was waiting for me when I got there 20 minutes later. Their food is good, imo, but not amazingly great. They certainly give large portions, so you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. Over our 2 visits, we tried the dry sauteed string beans with almonds, Mongolian beef, General Tso’s chicken, and Pork with tangy sauce. They seem to be pretty heavy-handed with the Five Spice powder. We really did not care for the General Tso’s — it was fried, and heavy with sweet red sauce that overwhelmingly tasted of Five Spice. Which I like a lot, just not THAT much. We noticed it in the Pork with tangy sauce too, but it wasn’t quite as strong. The pork had a lot of julienned veggies and a lot of sauce. Mongolian beef is pretty tasty, but it’s pretty oily. And they over-tenderized the beef, more than I prefer at least. The beef had a lot of sliced onions too, but good flavor, though not hot. Green beans were again the best of the dishes we tried, but I had to add a little salt. The almonds are a different touch, and I kind of like it. On all of these, I ordered them extra spicy. Didn’t happen. I guess they are just catering to the American palate. If it sounds like I didn’t like Kuang’s Kitchen, you’re wrong. It’s good, and I’d go there again because it’s not too far away for me, but I’m not going to crave this stuff.
