Please don’t waste you time or hard-earned money at this knock-off«Irish» pub. Let’s start with the ambiance. The owners must have run out of money before being able to finish their vision of the place… or at least I hope this wasn’t the actual vision. All of the booths, tables, and chairs need to be replaced. They’re old, dated and create a very cold ambiance(especially since they’re placed on concrete floors). Although the quality of the live music was great, the empty, hollow space is not conducive to such loud music. After the live music finished, really nice Irish music played for about 5 minutes before the bartender allowed a drunk friend to climb on the stage to change the music. We proceeded to listen to cranked up Reggae, then Metal, to «I Will Survive» and back to some Metal music. A couple different patrons from the bar proceeded to get on the stage to adjust the iPod music to their personal liking. I thought this is an Irish pub…(?) I think we’re dealing with an identity crisis here. Someone call Dr. Drew. That brings up the waitstaff. The bartender climbed the ladder behind the bar only to hang and swing from the rafters on the ceiling to impress his 5 friends at the bar. My first and last experience here was clearly unpleasant and I only wish I could get my $ 45 back. If I wanted this type of «service» I would have gone to a frat party. Save your money. You’ve been warned…

Great food, awesome service. They even have toys for the kids to play with at the table. We will be back!

Two stars for the food. Both times we have been, we waited upwards of 40 minutes for food, the whole experience from drink to check lasting just under two hours and this was including the several trips to the bar for service. If you need me to come up to the bar, maybe go full Irish pub and have customers order at the bar when they need something. The service was much more congenial the second time around. I gave it two fair shots and am now going to remove it from my radar.

After hearing the service wasn’t the best from other Unilocal reviews, we decided to sit at the bar, and happy we did. The bartender was personable, and got us what we wanted. Nothing against the waitstaff, but it didn’t seem like they were super motivated on this particular day. The burger and beers were good. The wings were covered in too much sauce. I would go back though. I had the kilted burger which had a little heat to it.

Yesterday was my fourth trip to Kilt. Like the first, the service is slow. I mean SLOW. I went at happy hour(5:15) and it took 15 minutes just to get a pint of beer. And the pub was not that busy. Now, it’s also worth pointing out that although Kilt has a pretty impressive set of beer taps, only 1 is on sale at Happy Hour. What kind of Happy Hour is that! The 2 Kilts IPA on sale is OK, but there are better IPAs on their beer list. The food is just OK. I do like their old school burger, which happens to be on their HH menu. But yesterday I wanted to try their fish and chips. It was not that good. The fries were great, but the fish was meh. But it took till 6:05 and one pointed message to the server that I was going to leave in 5 minutes if I didn’t get my food. How can it take 50 minutes to get food(we ordered right away upon seeing our waitress). I cannot understand this. The service is slower than McMenamin’s which I thought was the low bar. Not any more. Now, I should say that the waitress comped our food because it took too long, but the meal was supposed to be a quick outing and it took way too long. One other thing worth mentioning: the music. It’s LOUD. Did you hear me? Not if you were sitting across from me at my table. The band starts at 6pm every night and once they are playing you can forget talking to your family or dinner companions. Indeed, the reason we went early last night was to be done eating before the band played. That did not work. The music itself was OK, but I want to talk to friends at dinner, with perhaps a little background music. I really want this pub to work, since I have lived in the hood for almost 30 years. But I must say I don’t think I’ll be back. I can’t wait that long to get my food and drink. And they have to solve their loudness issue.

I stopped by on a super warm Sunday afternoon for a drink and maybe a bite to eat. Unfortunately drinks were persona-non-grata outside thanks to some variety of recent liquor board violation. That sealed the deal; I didn’t want to drink inside when the weather outside begged to be enjoyed. The drink I had was stiff. The service was average, if a bit slow. I can imagine this being a cozy spot to hit up when it’s cold out, a solid winter weather pub. The menu would support that; it’s full of heavy choices.

These bartenders are open minded eccentric ppl who really make you feel so at home. Their menu is great! The place is a little slow which is undeserving of what they are providing. The have a couch and theater room, live music, free pool on Fridays, two happy hour times, last one is 10 to close. And toco Tuesday for $ 2 and free pool. Pluse live music and karaōke. This should be a thing… experience this environment. Serious recommendation.

Corned Beef and Cabbage in May? Yes… and it was good!!! They also had Castletown performing Keltic, Classic Rock, Blues, and more on stage. I was walking by on Woodstock and saw them setting up in the makeshift stage. Kilt had 23 beers on tap. There was a nice range from PBR for $ 1.50 to my Laurelwood Tree Hugger Porter for $ 4.75. I was hoping to do a Taster Tray, but they didn’t do them at this time. I did sit not knowing if I should go up to the bar or wait to be served. I finally turned around and made eye contact with a server and she came to the table. Still, I liked Kilt and found the staff to be friendly. Looking forward to returning for another night of music and eats.

Admittedly, I was skeptical. As I SHOULD be. This location has been plagued 3 times in a row with disappointing places to eat. Kilt is fine. The idea of an Irish Pub seemed cheesy. With a town like PDX, known for craft indie brewery goodness… that would have been more my speed. But. we went to Happy Hr. I was curious about Irish Nachos. That was my main draw checking it out. In the bay area I use to crave the Irish Nachos at Rosie Mc Cans in Santa Cruz. Tender potatoes topped with green peppers, sour cream, salsa, and douse it with a lot of malt vinegar. YUM. Here it was actually regular potato chips with similar topping, no salsa, and some cheddar cheese sprinkled. Eh. It was okay, I just am not so sure the chips work so well, some real potatoes would be way better. For $ 5, it was a $ 5 meal. The big tato goodness in SC was $ 7. They did not screw up the tator tots(that is something prior establishments could not even get«right»). Plus they were $ 2. if I have a tato need, I will come back. The grilled cheese my wife got was quite good. The tomato soup, while chunky, was not the best we have had. The $ 9 was a little more than we would have liked to pay for such a simple dish, but it was not on the happy hour menu anyway. The thing that should be adjusted is the beer. It is $ 4.75 for a Pint regardless if it is happy hr or not. Please. drop a buck during Happy Hour? I DID have a good IPA. The selection was quite decent. The biggest gripe is while we sat outside to eat on a nice day, some Dimwit started to smoke a cigarette. For one that is illegal to do. Another, there was an infant with us just 3 tables away from them, and right next to that table a barely 5 month old baby. The people next to them got up and left with the baby. The guy smoking kinda looked over with a smirk. he KNEW he was doing a very inconsiderate thing. The wait staff? Nothing. Did not even let him know it was a non smoking area/establishment. Please let people know they cannot make other people uncomfortable with nasty cigarette smoking just because they feel like it after a couple of pints. Not cool. Not thoughtful. It SHOULD be common sense when babies are right nearby. but anyway, Nip that crap in the Budd ASAP before it becomes a big issue. The waitress was nice. She misinformed us when I asked if there was a lower price to pints of beer(aside from Pabst). I did not make anything of it when the bill arrived. But she should make sure before over promising. Adjust the beer for happy hr, make sure patrons are not breaking the law and smoking at the tables… we will frequent here for a Pint. I like the booths. good job making it feel more inviting inside and also,(with exception to the smoking issue that did occur, SRSLY!), thanks for creating a family friendly establishment before 8pm.

Kilt has some pretty decent eats. I’ve tried the wings, beans, noodles, burger and mac/cheese. All were tasty. Beer selection is good. Service is good/friendly, they just opened so don’t be in a rush. But for Woodstock, this and Delta are good options for home style food. Also the live music was great. If your a local, it’s a worthy spot compared to all the other failures in that same spot.

I went in here with my dad tonight for the first time and everything about this place was FABULOUS! And the waitress was super sweet and bubbly, my dad & I had a awesome time and we will for sure be back. Kilt is awesome! They listen to the locals, they know who the mayor of Woodstock is, and they listen to their customers on social media. How many places have you been to where the owner knows who the Duke on Unilocal is? My favorite food items here are the Kilt Burger, Irish Stew and the wings. Tuesday Taco’s are spicy good and the beer selection is awesome! The music(Junebugs, etc…), the games and the staff are all top notch and that’s why I keep coming back. I think this place will do great!

We spent an afternoon here. I hadn’t seen the reviews on here yet, but folks seem to be complaining about nothing. Overall, we enjoyed the new spot. Staff was friendly, live music was good, and the food was tasty. It’s kid friendly too, which is great. Also, they’re showing Timbers games on a huge screen with big couches. Excited to catch one here! Really will be a nice neighborhood bar, and I recommend giving them a chance. Many of the reviews seem to be overly nit picky, giving 1 stars for things that are not necessarily terrible. Yes, poor service is annoying, but worthy a single star? Not so sure. The raw chicken, that is another story, but in our time there, everything was amazing.

If I could give Kilt a negative star rating I would. I get this is a bar that serves food but still, the normal bar rules should apply. The physical space was very odd. Half booths spaced very strongly around the room. It was freezing cold(so cold I had to get a full Columbia jacket from the car to feel comfortable). There was a huge flying beetle bug on our condiment rack that my husband had to capture and release outside. I had a manhattan that wasn’t too bad. My husband had a beer. To eat I had the corned beef tacos that was pretty much lunch meat on flour tortillas. My husband’s sausage plate was some cold cut style sausage, bread, and a lot of cheese. Strange. The service was really slow. I had to ask for water and our server was pretty inattentive. I think the most appalling part of the service was the server that was playing Golden Tee video game the whole time we were there. Now, he could have been off shift but he was still in ‘uniform’ so it was aggravating to have things being so slow and watching staff play video games. All in all, a VERY disappointing experience. Maybe this location is just jinxed? Save your money… go some place else!

Two words: Raw Chicken… I know I said, in my previous post, that I’d wait a couple months and try again, but I just got back from the coast, didn’t fee like cooking and figured since it was an early Sunday night, it might be less crowded and therefore quicker service. Wrong… The place was less than half full and yet it took over an hour to get my burger and two kids chicken strips. My oldest daughter took a bite of her chicken and it was raw! RAW!!! I went to the server, showed her the chicken and she asked if I wanted to talk to the owner. I said yes and she got him. I showed him the chicken and said«you could kill someone with this». He never even looked at me. He grabbed the plate, said in the most casual tone, «oh, sorry ’bout that» and disappeared into the kitchen. 20 minutes later, my server brought new chicken strips. They were not comped and my daughter felt sick just looking at them and we left without her eating. Needless to say, I will not be returning here again. I’m pretty sure all the good reviews must be written by friends and family of the staff. Some friends of mine showed up about 10 minutes after I got there, and they waited over an hour for their food. The server told us that we should feel lucky because she had one table who waited over two hours for their food. She said there were three people working in the kitchen, but she didn’t know what their problem was. I did get a chuckle though when we had waited 15 minutes before a server asked us what we wanted to order, but she hadn’t given us our menus yet. That was entertaining :) For your own safety and sanity, just stay away from this place. There are far better places to go on Woodstock.

Great addition to the neighborhood! The owner is focused on catering to the neighborhood and that is so important. Solid menu with both Irish fare and traditional pub food. Beer selection is very solid, but definitely skewed towards Irish and malty beers. May need to add a few more IPA options to satisfy the hopheads in Portland. Service is very good and the owner is busting his butt as a server in the first weeks of this new adventure to ensure it succeeds. Mad props for that!

I am reminded of a truism from my career field: «Be careful what you complain about, because it will be replaced with something worse.» This is the third pub-style establishment to occupy this space in the last couple of years, and each one has been worse than the one before it. We gave it a try with an open mind. Granted, it was a crowded Saturday evening, but once we self-seated as the sign asked us to, we waited 15 minutes before a waiter approached us with: «You guys doing okay?» We said we’d really like to order some beer. The beer menu was nothing special or unusual, but I found an old standby. «Any appetizers or anything?» «Well, we’d love to see a menu!» «Oh, uhhhh, okay, hang on…» A few minutes later, My wife’s beer came, and I was told that they were out of my selection. Also out of my second selection. Once we finally ordered, we waited about an hour before the food showed up. The french fries were cold. ’nuff said. On the positive, the«Squeeky» something I ordered was tasty, but I finished it still quite hungry. The beer that I finally settled on was from the Laurelwood brewery, which actually has a restaurant about a mile away, in Sellwood. So, aside form the slow service, unremarkable beer list, tiny portions, high prices, limited family-friendliness and generally generic ambience, it’s not too bad… In the future, I’ll be going to the Lutz, Roma’s, and the Laurelwood, each of which has something way above and beyond what I found here.

Painting a huge cafeteria green doesn’t make it an irish pub. TV’s with pinball machines and fake plants come on guys. what a disappointment. Our server Amy was great. My pint of Guiness was short about 1 ½″ not acceptable. The music was not irish/celtic or anyways near and it was their first saturday nite! My tomato soup was great but the cup was half full, my grilled cheese had more bread than cheese… so much for my nine dollar kindergarten lunch. The waitress did bring a small cheese sample and our first round of guiness was comp’ed because our food took forever… of course they’ll get better because the crowd will move on. sad. south east is still needing a real irish pub! Fenders and mickey Finns just the same with a new name…

I know they’ve just opened, but get your shit together. The ambience is lacking and the layout is horrible for sound. I could look past all of this if the service was even remotely good… …Stood at the bar for over 10 minutes waiting to order a beer, left bar without a beer. Went back to the bar 10 minutes later to try to order a beer and it took another 10 – 15 minutes to get a beer and the Guinness was lukewarm. My friend ordered a drink and food before I got my beer and her food didn’t come out till an hour and half later and her drink didn’t come till after she was done eating her food and numerous attempts flagging down the waitstaff. So many bartenders and waitstaff, yet they all run around like chickens with their heads cut off. If you’ve got a line of people waiting to order drinks and there’s more than four bartenders standing around pretending to look busy, it makes customers pissed. *ONLY go here if you’ve got a lot of time on your hands and patience… a lot of patience. ***To all the people writing me telling me that Guinness is supposed to be served at room temperature… You’re wrong or haven’t had a proper Guinness. I LIKEALLMYBEERCOLD. ***I’ll go back in a month, since they haven’t been open for that long and hope service has changed drastically.

We live close by so we decided to check out Kilt tonight since it was their grand opening. To be honest, we didn’t expect much BUT we were pleasantly surprised! Our waiter was great(although it did seem that others had a few kinks to work out since it was the first night they were open). We had some delicious wings and tots, which happened to be a great deal with the happy hour specials. The live music started about thirty minutes before we left and it was fun! The best part-the huge projection screen in the back with couches! I can not wait to check out the cult classic movies! We will most definitely be back and I am really excited that Kilt has moved into the Woodstock neighborhood!
