Wanted to re-​do our couch cushions & pillows. The ladies that assisted us were super helpful. We got foam, batting & polyfil. The green foam is amazing!!! It’s like a new couch. PLUS the gals offered info about grabbing coupons online. Great cell reception so I downloaded a bunch of coupons. Saved money to boot. Thank you so much ladies.

great selection on fabrics. the cutting corner was very busy but luckily the pre cut/​rolled ribbon sufficed for me… good location very close to a Walmart and Ross. would come back

Horrible service! Was waiting in line just to cut 2 fabrics and the sales associates either didn’t have any concept of time or were just plain slow. We live close by but will not be coming back. Ever. Completely dissatisfied.

We stopped in this store one night because it was closer than Michael’s and we had never checked it out. We found a few items that we wanted to purchase in the clearance area. The price on the shelf did not match the price on the little sticker on the item (I assume it was the original price) since we were not sure what the price was we double checked the tag and verified that the product description and UPC matched the items that we were buying. We also picked up another non-​clearance item from the store, shopped around a bit, and then checked out.
Later, while unpacking our items we checked the receipt and noticed that the total was much higher than it should have been. We discovered that we had been charged more than double for all of the clearance items that we had purchased (not the price on the sticker or the price on the shelf… some random price) and had also been charged more than double for the non-​clearance items as well.
We went back to the store with our receipt and the items to show them what happened. We were not upset at this point, we understand mistakes happen. The store clerk was very uncaring and unhelpful. She acted like we were putting her out just bothering to come back in, never once apologizing or expressing any sympathy. She then completely blindsided us by refusing to adjust the prices of the clearance items that we had purchased pointing out to us that the store policy indicates that all sales on clearance items are final. We pointed out that we were not disputing that and only wanted a price adjustment so that we got the items for the prices that they are listed for at the store. She again refused any adjustment and said there was nothing she could do, it was just store policy. We tried to explain to her that they can’t just charge a random price at the register that the customer is not aware of and does not agree to and then just say, too bad, all sales of clearance items are final.
We offered to show her where we got the items so that she could see that the prices they had charged really were incorrect but she said it would not matter anyway because there was nothing she could do. She also refused to verify the price on the non-​clearance item we had purchased or check the shelf price for that item either, telling us that if we didn’t want it at the price they had charged we could have our money back on that item but she could not adjust it.
I really can’t say whether this overcharging is intentional and fraudulent or just the result of management and staff that are incompetent and unconcerned but either way, this store is definitely to be avoided at all costs. At best they are unhelpful, rude, and deceptive. At worst they are fraudulent and borderline (if not outright) criminal.

46 people standing in line, 2 cashiers working… both moving at a snails pace. Why do they even have 7 registers if on what I’m assuming is their busiest day of the week (Saturday) they only have 2 registers open? It took us 56 minutes to get from the end of the line to the front. Hire more people, Jo-​Ann, until then… I’m not coming back.

I was never impressed by a store that has only one employee who smiles, which is the long-​haired mat at the cut counter. But my lack of being impressed turned to shock when I went with a friend and used coupons. The running joke is they give those to like candy! So I use them. The woman at the register actually YELLED at me, claiming *I* am the reason prices are so high and I’m selfish for using so many coupons. My friend and I, both normally very outspoken people, were stunned and couldn’t even say anything. No one expects to be yelled at for using coupons. If the company had a problem with coupons, they could give out fewer, or have a limit to how many can be used at a time, like Hancock.
I didn’t go back for a long time. When I did, it was because they had two boxes of 1″ black horsehair braid in stock, which I needed. On the website, the is advertised as $ 64.99 per box (
), and it’s 50 yards. I also had a couple 60%-off coupons. So I made the drive, about 45 minutes that time of day. When I got there, I found the UNOPENED rude cashier, Karen, insisted I had to pay $ 2.99 per yard instead because they say it’s corporate policy to nor price-​match the website, and the max discount on a box (they weren’t charging me the box price though) was 50%. So, rather than $ 64.99 times 2 boxes minus 60% for each two coupons ($ 52 even), they would, at best, sell be the braid for $ 2.99 times 50 yards ($ 149.50) times 2 boxes ($ 299) minus 50% ($ 149.50). I was absolutely NOT willing to pay almost $ 100 more! So I set the other stuff I had on the counter to pay for that stuff only, and that b*tch (no milder word can possibly describe her, when you read what happened next) accused me of THROWING stuff at her. Uh… there are cameras above the registers. Don’t you DARE accuse a customer of assault when there is a camera right there that will prove who is lying. She then refused to ring up those purchases, told my 5-​year-​old she hopes she doesn’t grow up to be like me, and told me to get the hell to using that word.
You want to talk livid? That’s what you get when you tell a CHILD you hope she doesn’t grow up like her mother, after accusing her mother of assault, an allegation that can easily be proven to be a lie. At that point, the gloves came off, and I YELLED to get the f’ing manager there, NOW. I was fed up after being told the online pricing doesn’t apply, being accused of assault, being turned down for the stuff I wanted to buy, and then her saying that to my child. The manager came over, told me that, as a courtesy, he’d honor the 60% off, but, as that was still $ 119.60, about $ 67 more than the online pricing with coupon, I said HELL NO, and left.
I’m not taking a chance on that store again.

The level of customer service here is seriously lacking. Evidently, the people who work here seemingly hate their job. Which leads me to believe that management must be severely lacking also. Which therein makes me wonder if Jo-​Ann as a company should get anymore of my business, because as a business culture in retail they should be customer focused, it’s that simple. I gave it one star because I usually leave with what I need, but I always seem to leave completely irritated with my experience. The other day, I was getting some fabric cut and I for the life of me couldn’t get the woman working the counter to even crack a smile or communicate with me. It got to the point where it was as if in that 5 minute period, it was my goal to cheer this woman up and at least get a smile out of her. It didn’t work. Get it together people of Jo-​Ann.

They didn’t have any of the things I was looking for (maroon fabric paint pen or sharpie, and jewelry making kit (non-​bead jewelry.) Also NO clerks on floor to assist customers. Check out area is very confusing, you are supposed to wait in one long line on the other side of a wall of shelves for the next available cashier, but because the line is so far away from the open registers, people just cut in line and go straight to the closest register. They also charge to use a shopping cart.

If you feel like being treated like crap and want to have security called on you for no legitimate reason, then Joann Fabrics at Eastport Plaza is your place to be. Lessons that I learned from shopping here recently:
1. The store manager aka Cathy likes to be inconsistent with store policies and the price match policy.
2. The store manager aka Cathy will talk down to you like a child and also speak to you as if English is your 2^nd language.
3. The store manager aka Cathy likes to abuse her security power and will threaten to call security on you if you tell her that she is being rude.
4. The Store manager aka Cathy will force you to complete your transaction with her, even if you want to go to someone else. When you try to take your stuff and finish with the next cashier because you cannot tolerate her rudeness, she will hold a death grip onto your items and you will end up playing tug of war with her.
5. The Store manager aka Cathy will bash on you with her next customer and make you look bad.
Yes, I experienced all of the above on Friday 2÷6÷15 all because I presented a coupon that met the requirements of the price match pledge. I tried explaining to Cathy 3 times which coupon I had and I could not get a whole sentence in without her cutting me off and firmly telling me YOU.CANNOT.USE.A.COUPON ON SALE ITEMS! The tone she used was inappropriate and therefore I told her she was being rude. She then threatened to call security on me to escort me out. Since when has it ever been appropriate to threaten a customer with security when the customer is doing nothing wrong but trying to explain that they have a competitor coupon that is good for the entire purchase, including sales? Please help me understand how this can be seen as threatening and why it would require security to become involved? I did not raise my voice, I did not cause any distraction to other customers in the checkout line, I did not pose any harm or threat, and I did not use profanity. I’m still confused!
Anyhow, it appears That I am not the only one that has felt the wrath of Cathy. I’m surprised that Joann continues to employ people like her, considering the number of experiences reported on here. I wonder how many other experiences go unreported? I can’t imagine even imagine what it is like to work for her. No wonder why employees there seem miserable. I sent a long letter of complaint to customer service, received an apology, an offer of a $ 25 gift card, and an email apology from the other store manager Ben Silverman. They handled the situation well, but I hope they hold their word and provide proper training and take corrective action with Cathy. I wasn’t the first customer she has treated like crap and sure won’t be the last.

I stood around in the framing department for fifteen minutes after I was told someone would «be right with me». Nobody ever came. Understaffed, to say the least. And the cashier, when I left (buying only one of the things I came for since nobody would help me), didn’t ask if I found everything I needed (I didn’t). Pretty terrible through and through.

For my first time at this store, I was pleasantly surprised! Friendly and helpful staff who took the time to answer my questions. They have an interesting selection of fabrics! I found some really cute prints to make a friends baby blanket. Thanks Joanne Fabrics!

I and my partner were just harassed and then kicked out by one of the employees our first time Joann Fabric! What?!
I myself suffer from chronic fatigue and some spectrum panic disorders. Although in retrospect my decision was questionable, in some frame childish. The place seems open enough… The lights are on, chairs laid out, no door nor signs of business posted. However, I can’t say I’m best at my mature decision making.
Anyway, after strolling through their fabric and crafts section, (jersey knit is my favorite!) I ducked in to a chair of their classroom on the main floor. «I need to take a seat»
Five minutes transpire of the two of us speaking quietly about its convenient location! Oh, it’s in a nook on the ground floor, not even in the back, I wonder what kind of services they offer, as I try to collect my lurching stomach and dizzying head. «Maybe it’s because of the heat?» he suggests? «God, you may be right». Removing my winter coat might be a good move.
In comes the manager.
Her: You’re not supposed to be back here
Me: I know, we were just taking a seat
Her: You need to leave right now
Me: I will, just a moment
Partner: We’re leaving
Her: No, you need to leave or I’m calling security
Partner: We’re literally leaving right now!
What a harassing tone, my lord! We were complying! In fact, we turned around after her 10 seconds later as she left after her last word. I don’t know what she thought the situation was, whether she thought we were homeless though we are clean, though I am on the spectrum and dress like it, whether removing my winter coat was just too risqué, but she did not handle it properly.
We hear her yelling to one of her employees «Have you called security yet?» as my partner and I resume browsing peacefully, just looking at each other in amazement.
We decide to get her name, my partner introduces himself by stretching his hand out as she retorts «NO TOUCHY!» and thrusts her finger towards his face, and insists that he had «gotten smart with her» and threatens to call security again when he asked for her name, all in front of another clerk.
Mall security does in fact arrive in response to the first incident that was 110% under control. And insist that we leave the store that instant, in spite of our compliance.
We never did get her name as we were rushed out of the store as if we were delinquents. It is allegedly «Cathy»
I’ll tell you one thing, I feel 100% mortified and 100% unsafe to shop at this location. Stay away. There’s a locally owned fabric shop on our very own Alberta street that’s far superior. Get her removed from her position. If you’ve had experiences with this woman, please come forward.

Unless you’re looking for fabric or sewing supplies, I’d go elsewhere. And I’m not even sure it’s a good place for that. However, their craft supply and knowledge about such things is dreadful. The store isn’t well-​staffed and the staff that you can find aren’t very helpful.

45 min wait to cut fabric. Always understaffed. Never a pleasant experience unfortunately

Slowest service ever! And good luck finding an employee if you need help finding anything! The staff working the fabric cutting area act as if they have all day. Come on people! Hurry it up!

I wasn’t going to write a review on this particular store, but today I will do just that, after talking to the store manager about my product.
They do not TAKE REMNANTS BACK, know this once & for all, but the fabric remnants I bought was ready made for skirt or top, and half of the fabric top was elastic, so of course I can’t cut them up for the products that I make!
When I explained to the manager, that they’re cheating their customers, by HIDING the elastic on their remnants, instead of exposing them, she barked @ me.
I called this particular store, because they’re closer to me, even though I bought the fabric @ another store, but THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME REGULATIONS.
Negative for customer service! The stars are products I’ve seen & selections, and the displays on their stores.
Todays is the LAST TIME I’ll be shopping here!
I have a receipt to exchange or return a product. I read everything printed on the back of my receipt: Returns Without a Receipt, All Returns, and Returns WITH A RECEIPT.
Since I have a receipt the following stated:
«If you are not satisfied with your purchase, simply return it along with your receipt. A full refund will be offered in the original method of payment, or as a merchandise exchange, or on a merchandise return card. Check, and debit card transactions are treated as cash payments. Cash refunds may not be available for amounts over $ 100. Gift cards and merchandise return cards are not redeemable for cash unless required by state law. A gift card will be given as the return tender for all returns made using a gift receipt».
I would gladly exchange but they didn’t the the product I wanted! The manager was telling me I have 90 days! But where in my receipt said that? She said it stated ONLINE. I didn’t purchase that ONLINE! Why didn’t it say that on my paper receipt, when I bought the product in person? Because THEY LIKE TO PRANK THEIR CUSTOMERS!
I’m done!

I’m a little torn on how many stars to leave, but, I decided 3 was fair. This trip was good, but, my last few have definitely left something to be desired.
First, I drove to this store for 4 weeks in a row because I needed a particular product that was out of stock (they seem to always be out of a lot of yarns). Each time I asked about it, I was told that it was coming in on the truck the following week. It never came. I ended up driving to Vancouver.
Second, I bought a toy/​coloring book set for my son’s birthday. It had been opened, so, it was marked down to $ 3.24 instead of $ 12.99. Not only did the girl ring it up at full price, she used my 40% off coupon toward it, so, I ended up paying more for another item, too.
Third, when I took the toy/​book back in so they could fix their mistake, there was only 1 person on shift who knew how to handle that kind of return and she was on break. I ended up waiting at the front while the girl at the return desk sweet talked her into coming back from break to do the return. I don’t blame her for wanting her break, but, I think the store should have more than one person per shift who knows how to do price adjustments.
This really is a good store, but, the customer service is a little… scarce. The store is beautiful, well-​lit, and big, but, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you pretty much have to tackle someone to get any help (unless the man who seems to run the cutting counter is there; he’s great!). I will go back because it is fairly close to my house and they have a bigger selection at this store than the one closest to me, but, it isn’t my favorite JoAnn’s.
I do love JoAnn’s because of the coupons, but, I always wonder why they don’t just put the prices a little lower and eliminate the coupons. I know I only buy when stuff is on sale or when I have a good coupon. Hmmmm…

There are certain people here I really like, I stop by every once in a while to get craft items past 6:00 and there was a guy in the fabric department around the fleece that was super nice, as was the cute lil’ old lady helping me cut the fabric, and the cashier with gauged ears (which I’m very happy to see a corporation allow!). There’s also usually a blond girl cashier that I see most every time I’m in and she is always very sweet.
But when I’ve been in at earlier times of the day I’ve gotten short attitudes or just ignored, probably because they’re busy.
Everybody was super nice today though :)
Prices suck unless you bring the 40% coupon or are having a sale, which are often & you can get emails about and shiz.

I come here to kill some time if I am in the area and I have time to kill before the sweetheart is off work. Keep in mind, this is JoAnn on SE 82^nd. It’s pretty sketch here so it’s okay if you see that the shopping carts are locked together. That’s so they don’t go wandering away.
In the center of the store is where you get your fabrics cut. It seems that the store layout evolves around this station. It also seems that every time I come here, the line is long and that is even with three cashiers at the till.
I never ever see anyone on the floor. If you need help, you’ll have to hunt someone down. They’re either at the cutting station or at the cash register.

I held back from saying something NOT VERY NICE to the 2 customer service reps at this location today, I really wanted to say, «Ladies, if you don’t like your job QUIT»… but I didn’t!!!
BUT SERIOUSLY, if you don’t like taking care of customers, DON’T GET A JOB WORKING WITH THE PUBLIC! IF YOU DO BECAUSE YOU NEED TO PAY YOUR BILLS, YOU SHOULD AT LEAST TAKE SOME PRIDE & AT LEAST TRY TO DO A GOOD JOB, AT YOUR BEST!
So I was supposed to pull this # from the ticket dispenser at the counter, while I was pulling out # 63, they called on the intercom, # 64.
I told her I got # 63 right here. She pulled the # 63 off my hand and threw it in the trash (HARDLY). ;(Once I pulled # 64, she did it again! OK WTF is going on!!! A lady without a # cut in line in front of me on the other side of counter. WTF # 2! The rude customer service # 1 left me and helped her! Ok, fine be that way! :(
I was trying to do the right thing, so I pulled # 65 and stood behind the lady that cut in line, I gave her about 3 big steps so that she didn’t feel like I was giving her attitude or something, since I got all day and was a happy clam today.
The rude customer service # 2, looked around & saw me, I was the only one there, other than the other lady (cut in line). CS#2 walked away and called for # 65 (when I waved the ticket and smiled at her). NOT GOOD ENOUGH, she stood there and just stared at me! WTF # 3. So I asked her, was it necessary to call the # even-​though I already announced that I got it. She didn’t like me MORE NOW. hahaha Anyway, I asked about sewing machines. She dismissed me and didn’t give me the time of day because she was so busy (DOING NOTHING) and she didn’t have any knowledge about sew machines nor classes that are offering there!
It was so weird there, I left not long after that because I was afraid that I was in the twilight zone or in a zombie land or something. I have a nice brain, I don’t want to get eaten. hahaha
