Really don’t like to write reviews under 3 stars, but good grief. Portland has some really shady and incompetent people working in construction. We need more people writing on Unilocal!:)
I hired Craig after the electrician I’d hired «recommended» him as solo guy who does decent work. But he did not do good work. Let’s get the initial beef out of the way…
His initial quote was insane. They are almost NEVER HONEST.
My poor dad who hung drywall up until the year he died would turn in his grave and be so ashamed of what his profession has become being overtaken by scum like this.
Anyway, reasons for 2 stars:
* Terrible quality. I needed the ceiling and one wall done. Like, less than 200 square feet total. But even with that small of a job, he borked it and drywalled right over the only one of two electrical outlets in my kitchen. He also covered one of the valves on plumbing, that had not been capped… and technically, he butted the drywall right up against the pipe (and the valve, knocking the valve), so I about had a leak inside the wall that HE CREATED: the potentially disastrous kind of leak you don’t notice until it’s overflowing in between your walls.
Thank goodness I’d had a plumber on site around that time, and he was able to help me catch the disaster and cap the pipe. This was, of course, after Craig had ran to the bank with my check. Oh, and the electrical outlet he covered up means I now have to pay the electrician all kinds of extra $$$ to rewire. Baloney.
* Terrible value. He made it sound like I’d get to pick the texture, but instead he just did this ugly, flat texture that has some random «pockets» in it… but not enough to really look random, just like spots poor workmanship.
The only reason this isn’t a 1 star review is that he did do a pretty good job cleaning up (some of the guys i“ve hired leave trash strewn all over the place), and the finished product isn’t completely awful.
But the carelessness with respect to the plumbing and electrical components of my house (he bragged to me that he used to be general contractor — HA!) and the general douchebaggery for ridiculous quotes brings disgrace to the Drywall profession.
I would not re-​hire or recommend him or his company to anybody else.
