Jantzen Beach Liquor Store

I was intrigued by my fellow Unilocaler’s «booze must be bought» list. Very clever. But I had to disagree about my beloved Jantzen beach liquor store. I like this place just fine. They are professional, they rarely have a long wait, I believe they sell cigarettes at a low price, and they have just about everything — including the booze you get to make a long island ice tea without buying 3 or 4 liquors! Who knew? Not I! Just add lime/​lemon juice and coke. Mmmmm
And mostly, bestly and greatestly — they are open Sundays — which neither kenton nor St Johns is, dagnabbit!
Plus — they have given me free shots/​samples once in a blue moon. So 3 cheers (and 4 stars) for Jantzen Beach liquor store. A place where I have never been held at gunpoint, seen anyone held at gunpoint or even seen people yeilding weapons of any kind.
Now — I should take an entire star away for the A-​holes in the parking lot — but I won’t. It’s not the lot — the lot is fine and dandy and big. It’s the folks driving in and out of it who aim to kill you, or at least take up handicapped spaces without cause or warrant and other douchebaggery!

Paging Gus Van Sant! I’ve found the location for your next gritty Portland film. Picture this: a grimy, florescent-​lit liquor store, complete with stained blue utility carpet and staffed by grey, broken women of undefinable age. Gets robbed so often it’s reliable entertainment on those Saturday nights they, oddly, stay open later than any other liquor store in the state.
After your anti-​hero steals a traveler of Double Dickel and a pornographic lighter, he can escape next door into any one of the three generic sports bars (ie, lottery gaming farms), or maybe he can shoot some H in a stripped down Monte Carlo in the parking lot of the nearby Target. You can do something meaningful with the glowing red bullseye, yes?
