Jackson Hewitt Tax Service

30 days still no refund or word back no real help when u call for it. Cant tell me nothing but its processing. It was processing 3 days after i did them really 26 days later still processing. I say its there fault but they are not doning anything to help but wait with me.

I was just here getting my personal and business taxes done, and had the worst experience ever.
First, I was with Scott Weinert, who did the majority of my taxes for me. He seemed super helpful, informing me about all of the deductions available since I work from home. He sent me home with homework so I could check out all my bills and deduct everything I could for home office expenses. By the end of the appointment, I was getting a small refund, and I couldn’t have been happier.
Then, I had my second appointment with Mary Elisa Johnson, delivering all the homework that Scott has requested. In addition to not being ready for us, and not being educated on where Scott and I had left off, she was extremely rude. She didn’t acknowledge us when we walked in, no greeting, no nothing. Since the place was empty, it was really strange to not even be acknowledged.
Then, we got her all caught up with our situation, and she discovered that Scott had entered in some tax information in the wrong place, and I went from getting a small refund to owing $ 5000. She then went over all the deductions that Scott told me get, and revealed that I couldn’t claim a lot of them now.
All that aside, her demeanor lacked tact and basic humanity. Every interaction with her was condescending, talking down to me, and treating me like I was stupid. Why would I have taken the time to gather so much specific information about bills, medical expenses and mileage if I wasn’t specifically told to do so?
I strongly questioned her about why I could have two appointments with two different people working at the same company and get such wildly different results and recommendations from them. Had I not come back for my second appointment, I would have gotten a small refund, then six months later, a letter from the IRS saying I’d owe $ 5000. I asked her about what kinds of training Jackson Hewitt workers get since her and Scott were definitely NOT on the same page with what is allowable for business expenses, and asked how am I supposed to trust this return or anything her or Scott has done since they’re both so different.
She offered up no apologies, insisted the problem was my lack of understanding, and said that she’s only human, and that’s why they offered the «gold guarantee» should there be problems with the return.
Needless to say, I’ll be getting a second look elsewhere because I don’t trust that this return will be correct in any way, and I don’t plan on returning to this place either. Rude service, uneducated employees – I’ll bad mouth this place to everyone who will listen.

I was told by the tax preparer that I owed the state of Oregon over $ 500. I knew that couldn’t be right, so luckily I was able to get a second opinion without paying Jackson Hewitt. Surprise! I was told I owe $ 18 by a family member’s accountant. Clearly the woman working did not know what she was doing, and $ 500 is a big mistake to make for someone like me. I would NOT recommend going here.
