Very lovely shop, beautiful quality linens. Wonderful healthy soap and lotion options. The staff is exceeding friendly knowledge and willing to help. Worth stopping by to browse, shop, and enjoy a coffee or tea.

Samir and the gang sell nothing but the best stuff here from the textiles to the soap and even food stuff like olive oil. Everything I have purchased here while not cheap was worth every penny. I never knew a thing about turkish bath towels before but I’m so glad I picked on up here. I got a linen version and it’s amazing! The main thing beyond the clearly superior quality of this hand made item is that it dries really fast and hence doesn’t get nasty, which is a huge step up from the usually terry towel that gets gross in a few days for me. I could go on about the towels alone but lets just sum this up and say that you need to check this place out for it’s amazing selection of textiles and other imported things like kitchen gear, turkish tea/​coffee pots, soaps and olive oil.
Just go by, it’s awesome and it’s run by a really good guy that cares deeply about where his products come from.

Loved, and I mean loved this store! Since I’ve moved to the Village I wanted to go in but for one reason or the other I haven’t. So during First Friday I did. Oh My!
All the soaps, lotions and the towels! Paradise! I want everything in there. I had to restraint myself from getting it all.

Great place to go gift shopping for friends, family, and yourself. So many colors of pestemal towels to choose from, took me forever to decide. The prices are high, but so is the quality. Cara was very helpful & patiently checked the stock for various colors.
The sale room has great deals on towels and bedding right now, They also have a lovely room next door filled with gorgeous copper tea sets, brightly painted tagines, jars of preserved lemons and more.

Snuggled in the quaint Multnomah Village, Indigo Traders is a trip. A trip away from Portland into another continent.
The Façade of each little shop in Multnomah Village has their own design and color scheme. Indigo Traders’ is my favorite. Bright Blue and Happy.
The scent upon arrival is also my fave. Coffee and Soap. I’m all about smells. And these two scents are both relaxing and invigorating to me.
They recently acquired the space next door to expand on. It provides a deeper space to stuff more items. My fave side is still the coffee side. The walls are covered in tiles and appears more foreign.
The owner and all the shop employees are very kind and helpful. I always enjoy my visits. The owners travel to Turkey and Morocco for their wares. Which include soaps, lotions, artistic pottery, clothing, linens, towels, and TURKISH COFFEE!!!
Well, truthfully the coffee is locally grown, but internationally inspired. LOL.
I like to take my time and poke around a bit. The shop owner or employees will make you a little cup of Turkish Coffee. So fun. I strongly recommend one should pop in just for a cup of it.

My sister and I, after grabbing a quick snack at Baker & Spice, decided to visit this store. There was a sale going on and my interest was piqued by all the pretty scarves and dishes.
The woman in the store was friendly and inviting telling us about the «evil eye» and the style of dishes. They have pretty linens and dishes, delightfully scented lotions and soaps, and some serious scarf selections.
The sale made the reasonable prices just that much better. I was really glad that they also had a scarf selection for men. This shop is well organized and well kept by the people that work here. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful selection of Turkish towels, that can be used for many other things than bath towels. I experienced the hovering salesman, which I admit made my experience less pleasant, and I bought less as a result. I just chalked it up to a cultural difference. I have been to Turkey and shopped there. That is how a shopkeeper in Turkey sells his goods, by constantly showing you more stuff that he wants you to buy. I would have bought more if he’d have left me alone for even five minutes.

I wandered past Indigo Traders during a recent visit to Multnomah Village. The store specializes in textiles, ceramics, and various sundries from all over the Mediterranean. The store space is small, but the colours and selection are stunning to look at and sometimes feel. This family business is worth a stop and for me a repeat visit for a few gift ideas that I didn’t previously realize!

My home is filled with items from this store, but the atmosphere just seems to be a little less inviting lately.
If you are looking for a unique gift, love having a personal shopper at your elbow, and have plenty of money to spend then Indigo Traders is your place. If you are looking for a leisurely, no-​pressure shopping environment that caters to people of differing income levels, Indigo Traders is not the place to go.
So about the no pressure thing: The sales staff hover much too closely, offering a stream of rave reviews about all the wonderful (but pricey) items. I know the towels are amazing, yes I have tried the olive oil soap, uh-​huh the bowls are beautiful — you’ve had the same inventory in here for a long time and I just told you I come here often, but still you are following me around the store with the same pitch you gave last time I was here.
Then actually purchasing my items resulted in an uncomfortable experience last time, which made me feel that the cashier was more concerned with making an extra dollar or two (I had a chinook book coupon) than having me leave happy. Apparently none of the gift baskets I picked out as ummmm gifts were valid. .. The savings would have been small to me, so that wasn’t my issue, but last year when I went coupon Christmas shopping I bought the exact same items here.
The store expanded (to another location across the street), and then went back to only having one location, so I hope that the newly awkward shopping environment lessens for shoppers as things settle back in at Indigo Traders, but I think I will try a few new places to finish out my holiday shopping this year. A bonus: perhaps my family will be pleased to not have the same soaps and towels this year.

A really great place to get unique gifts. Also, Turkish bath towels are every bit as awesome as they are made out to be. I pop in every so often to check out the clearance corner for xmas goodies.

The salesperson, Dan, was a total sweetheart. I came in 10 minutes before closing but was not rushed at all. He shared his enthusiasm for a couple items I was looking at but never tried to «sell» me. When I perused the gorgeous pashmina shawls on sale (75% off!), he offered to go look at their stock to find any particular color I might want that wasn’t on the shelves. I walked out with 4 shawls, two lovely seaglass dishes and a cute carafe of recycled glass. Some of their items seem pricey, but if you believe in fair trade and sustainable wages, this store is a kindred spirit. Next time, I’m going to check out the Turkish towels!

Wife and I stumbled on them after a lazy breakfast at Fat City in Multnomah Village. They specialize in Mediterranean stuff and it comes from all over the world and each and every item has a story to it that reminds you the world is a small place and we are all connected.
We first ended up in their towels, soaps and lines store (they have two right there in the village) and ended up getting schooled on soaps and towels (who knew such a thing existed) by a very educated and beautiful young lady. We bought a soap «sampler» for $ 15 and have not bought shampoo in months as we now use all of their olive oil based bars of soap. Of the five bars in the sample pack, each has a story and comes from a different place in the world. Then we learned all about towels… who knew… the towels were amazing as well, whole story to them, but ended up not buying one that day. They have another store, across the street that is more kitchenware, dishes, bedding, blankets, etc and it was here we met the owner (totally cool guy who made me a Turkish Coffee) and we bought some spices and wife and Mom bought some cool scarves.
Flash forward two months to my 40^th birthday and my Mom purchased me a new sample pack of soap and a «shower towel» for my present and by far, best gift in years! I love this towel, it is eco-​friendly in so many ways and it is just one of those you have to use it to believe it kind of things. Bottom line, my new favorite store and yet another store that makes PDX one of the coolest towns on the planet.

What a beautiful store! I want to move in and try all the yummy soaps and towels and scrubs. There are two stores, across the street from each other, and I only allowed myself to explore the Bath store, as the products were too scrumptious and expensive to really indulge. I asked the owner/​sales lady questions about the Turkish Bath Towel, the peshtamel, and she answered them without being pushy or condescending. The only problem I had with Indigo Bath was that there were too many colors and patterns of towels to choose from and I couldn’t get one of each! So far, I love my new towel and Greek olive oil soap, and think I may have found a new addiction!

Interesting variety of mostly Moroccan imports: tagines, textiles, foodstuffs, soaps, and clothing. On my last trip to Indigo Traders one of the salesguys was a bit too persistent for my taste. I like to take my time when looking at things I might buy, and he kept coming over to tell me a bunch of stuff about everything I was looking at. I think he told me that almost everything I was considering was selling well, too. This became suspect after a while. I guess you can’t blame the guy for trying, though. Both my friend and I walked out with bags in the end, and we like what we bought, but I might sneak a peek through the window before I go in again, just to avoid the aggressive salesguy.
