Amazing food but they are closed! New place and not so good. :( I wish I knew where the cooks went.

I just waited 25 minutes for my not so good Tom Kha soup. It’s too sweet and not worth the wait. I’m not sure what’s going on on here. I’m not goin back.

Not sure when it happened, but it looks like the cart changed owners, and the food/cooking style also changed. The pad kee mao used to be plentiful with fried tofu having a lovely, meaty texture and good flavor. Now, it seems the dish is prepared with a ton of really strong fish sauce and a lot of oil and the tofu is just soft white chunks barely cooked. Definitely not a fan anymore.

I don’t like Thai… I love Thai. Probably the best Thai Foodcart in Portland. They’ve given me free drinks and rolls on the past for no particular reason. Just a good place.

Comfort food, sun or rain. This is one Thai place where I’ve found that you can actually differentiate between the spices in the different foods. The variety is large as well. They’ll even make it without fish sauce if you’re vegetarian(which can be a rather strong taste here). And on a hot summer afternoon I even got a free popsicle from the friendly owner while I waited :) Yummy food, check them out!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was open even though Unilocal’s hours listed it as closed. In any case, there was only one person working the cart and he had about 8 orders queued up. The fact that so many people were willing to wait for this Thai cart’s food kept us interested so we ordered as well. The prices are now $ 6 for most food, and the menu says $ 1 Thai Iced Tea, which unfortunately he was out of. We ordered a Chicken Pad Thai. The guy inside was very rushed, but extremely polite to everybody. It took about 25 minutes to receive our order. Unfortunately, I have to say I’ve had much better. I’ve only been here once so I can’t say if this was due to his busyness or if the food was close to norm. There was too much tamarind paste to the point that the dish was straight up red, and the dish tasted overly tangy. The egg was slightly burned as well. If I had spent more time in downtown, I might opt to try again just to give the nice employee the benefit of the doubt.

Best Thai food around(and I’m talking from Gresham to Forest Grove and everything in between)… The others here just don’t compare to the flavor, quantity and freshness.

«I Like Thai» should change their name to «This Thai I NO Like.» I was debating between this place and the Thai Basil cart right next to it. I went with this one because of the reviews. This choice was incorrect. The drunken noodles(Pad Ke Mao) was awful. It was the greasiest and sweetest drunken noodles I’ve ever had, and I’ve had tons from various places. Why so much sugar and oil? My lips look like I’d drank motor oil(or wore as much gloss as I did my teenage years hahah) This is not a dessert, no need for excess sugar. Many places grease it up, but his place greased *and* sugared this dish like there is no tomorrow. I likely won’t try them again after reading that the chicken fried rice contained very little amount of chicken in another review. Next time I will try Thai Basil next door. I’ve been to the restaurant version in L.O. and it was OK, better than I Like Thai. I realized since then that E-San Thai cart is at the end of the street. That place is da bomb! I love their restaurant and will definitely try their cart too ;)

One of the best Pad Kee Mao dishes around. For $ 6 also! Add another dollar for a Thai Ice Tea. For real? How does Portland do this?

I used to come to this food cart all the time — it was one of my favorites. Over time, the dishes have changed quite a bit, and the food is really inconsistent. First off, the portions have gotten a lot smaller — also, the noodles get really gummy and there have been eggshells in my food… The plus of I Like Thai is that they’ve maintained the $ 5 price, but I don’t go here as often because I’m not sure what to expect.

I decided to order there because I was in a hurry, so in the situation, the food carts are good, right? It was a chilly night and waited for more than 30 mins. Other guy wanted to cancel his order but they said they’d just started making it, so he had to wait. There were other group of people. They were complaining, too. They apologized every customer. But I think they should tell people when they order how long they might wait. Thai eggplant was ok. It was too sweet and oily. With this long wait and this taste, I don’t think I need to go back.

Thai eggplant(hot): wasn’t very hot at all. The eggplant was oily but tasted good so I will accept that. I like that they offer brown rice and don’t up charge for it. I got two drinks and a dish that was big enough for two meals for $ 8 plus the few bucks I stuffed into the tip jar. I would have given this place a solid four star review but I am knocking two stars because of the CRAZY wait I had for my food. It took over 50 mins for my food to come out. I’m not even joking. I kept track because after I ordered I checked in on Unilocal. What gets me is no apology for the wait or even a warning. Just sucked big time. It was lucky I didn’t have a time constraint other than the gnawing hunger ever growing inside my tummy or I would have had to go back to work or wherever hungry. I told the guy working that next time he should just give people a heads up if they are lagging. No big deal. I would then just order and walk around and not stand like a famished dog ears perking up as every order is called. Or I could have went to another cart that could get me my food faster. I know they work hard and the food was good, however it is really lame to stand in the heat for close to an hour(seriously not even being dramatic) for my meal without even an apology or warning. Never. Again.

One of my two favorite«$ 5 Thai» carts. Pretty much everything I’ve had from this cart has been tasty as hell. Comparing I Like Thai to the neighboring $ 5 cart, the ingredients are better, the flavors are more interesting, there is an option for brown rice, there is a hotness scale(I go second to the top!), and if you order spicy, you usually get a tea tossed in for free! Only downside is the crazy long line and wait times during the lunch rush, which is when I’ll default to the«other» place. Also, I haven’t had it lately, but I think it might be $ 6 thai now(judging by the big red 6 on their sign). Still my favorite cart I’ve found so far.

What’s not to love about cheap, delicious, and generous portions? This place totally rocks! I had the pumpkin stir-fry with brown rice and a Thai iced tea. This cost me a grand total of $ 7. I got about two and a half meals out of it. The stir-fry was delicious — a little sweet, a little spicy, and full of great Thai flavors. The brown rice was perfectly cooked. The tea was refreshing and wonderful, especially for only $ 1! Next time I’m in Portland, I totally plan to hit this place up.

It is SOHARD to pick a food cart to eat at, with so many interesting looking places. But in the end I had to go with the one called«I Like Thai». Because, well, I do. And THEN, I had to pick a dish, but I went with Pad Thai, a classic and my favorite. Everything is $ 5 and the portions are huge. I was barely able to eat half of mine, unfortunately. It was good. My favorite part, though, was the guy at the window entertaining me with an «Epic Rap Battles of HIstory» video while I waited for my food and making me laugh. I had seen the video before, but not at a food cart. Fun times! I feel like I made a good choice.

— Locale Destination — It’s on SW10th St and SW Alder St, Portland, OR. It’s in a block of food carts, downtown. All the carts I saw were cash only, but there’s ATM right by them. Very quick service. — Gluttony Expedition — Food item cost $ 5. Good price! Thai iced tea: $ 1 for Thai ice tea! Others charge $ 1.50! — Conqueror’s Deduction — I love Thai foods and eat them a lot. Since there’re so many other choices, I didn’t have a chance to try their foods this time ;(Next time!

The portion size is HUGE! For $ 5, it’s like an all-you-can-eat once you sit down to open your container. The Pad Thai was tasty, but not the best I’ve ever had. I appreciated that they were quick, friendly, and the food is served(sanitary) hot! Mmm. There was a little too much of an oily texture for my taste, but the tofu was perfectly cooked. I look forward to going back to try the Pad See Ew.

Two words: Cheap and delicious. Granted I’ve only tried one thing on their menu(Pad See Ew), but it’s yummy and is a lot of food for $ 5. It usually lasts me about 2 – 3 meals, but I’m a small person, so don’t get your hopes up if you’re a big eater. It takes kind of a while for them to make the food when you show up around noon like the rest of the people in Portland, but patience is a virtue, and will make your food taste THAT much better.
